- GameSpot's Videos Up For Grabs/Official Budokai Site Discovered
•Well, most of you have heard about GameSpot's new Budokai videos, but when you've tried to download them, you can't because you didn't pay for membership. Well, DreamDBZ has come through for us all by offering all 6 videos for free. I'm too lazy to post links to the 6 download options, so here's a link to the site: DreamDBZ. DBZonPS2.com has also made these videos available, and are of lesser quality (which is good for those of you who want smaller files), and you can find them in the video section. So here's a link to them too: DBZ on PS2.

Also, DreamDBZ has reported the existence of an official site for Budokai. The URL can be found on the back on the Budokai box, and here's a link:
Official Budokai Site.
Unfortunately, the site was supposed to open yesterday and still hasn't lol. But I'm guessing it'll open soon, so keep checking back there.

- Budokai release today
•Dbz Budokai was released in the UK today and i went straight to the shop and paid around $70 for it and so far i am not dissapointed.
Ive only played story mode so far but this is how it works in story mode (the game follows the story line ever so well with awesome cut scenes):

You go through story mode as Goku and you battle everyone that goku battles, although the game does switch to other characters sometimes when Goku cannot participate. It goes: Cut scene, battle, cut scene, battle, etc, but you do some training in the spaceship on the way to Namek (blocking vegetas Ki's, blocking attacks etc), and as you go through story mode, every character you beat, you earn for the duel mode (one on one battle), but you start off with a base of 5 characters (Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Tien, Krillin). You also gain skills, attacks and you definately can to super saiyan.
You cannot make your own characters but you can customise your moves (i haven't explored this part yet).

World Tournament:
You have to try to get to the final and win to make a large amount of zenni. It starts of with 8 competitors and you have to knock each other out of the ring or KO them and procede to the next level. If you are runner up you get 5000 zenni if you win it 10,000 zenni.
You dont get money if you finish anywhere else and there are no continues.

Now i see why story mode was so small! (At first) I thought once you complete story mode with goku, thats it, but after that you can be different characters and complete the story mode as different characters.

Skill shop:
2000 zenni for a ki move, 2000 zenni for an item, 2000 for a non-ki move, 3000 to get a random move thats usually always new, 1000 to get a recommended move.

Theres something that you can unlock but i dont think i should release its name as there will be no secrets but it allows you to do a few tasks and submit your score online (i am not gonna give the url out :D).
Mr. Satan is awesome! He has this great move which is one of the best in the game, it's called "present for you".

Theres a choice of 3 arenas in duel mode, 8 arenas after you complete story mode with goku, im not sure if more can be unlocked.

Money well spent!!!!!!!
I'll post more when i get it!

Now, here's the scoop on the how the DB's will work in Budokai...

"Using the Dragon Balls

What would a Dragon Ball Z game be without collecting the Dragon Balls and calling upon Shenron to grant a wish? In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, you have the opportunity to do just that! You collect the Dragon Balls in two ways. The first is by going through the various chapters in Story Mode. Capsules are awarded after successfully completing a chapter and you may be lucky enough to get a Dragon Ball every now and then. The other way is to purchase them from Mr. Popo's Skill Shop. After winning some Zenie in the World Tournament (by placing either first or second), you can purchase capsules from Mr. Popo.

The key to getting the Dragon Balls is to look at the cost of the Recommended capsule. Dragon Balls cost 8000 Zenie, so if the cost is different, exit the Skill Shop, and then reenter it right away. The Recommended capsule will be different. Keep doing this until you have all seven Dragon Balls.

Once you have all seven Dragon Balls, go to the Skill List and scroll to the Dragon Balls. Press the X button. You will be asked if you intend to call up Shenron. Select Yes to call him. Shenron appears and gives you the option to select one of three Breakthrough capsules. A Breakthrough capsule gives you the ability to use all of a character's skills. For a character like Trunks, that means instead of having only 7 skill slots to customize your character, you get twelve!!!"

Thanks to Jason at Infrogames

Sadly, I'm a little dissapointed in the whole wishes thing...it could have been a lot better. Gaining skills isn't much to brag about. It would have been cool if you could wish for hidden characters, new transformations, weapons, or even to create your own character. But oh well, nothin' we can do about it.

You can also find 6 new vids and some new screen shots on GameSpot.

- Poll Update! (about time too)/Akira in New York..
•The results to our over runned trivia poll(What power level was Gohan's strongest attack against Nappa?) are in. Less than half(40.35 %) of the visitors who voted got it right, the answer was 3000. The next poll questions are to gain statistics on our visitors to help improve the site. I will finally have time to add an update or two this thanksgiving holiday, my school(U.C.Irvine) has been really demanding and haven't had time to do much of anything.

Here's the word from DBZGTLegacy.com:
Steve from KH.com sent me this
" ... on December 6, in New York City, get ready for the Shonen Jump America Launch Party, an event so unbelievably awesome in its scope that there will NEVER be another one like it!!!
So why will it be soooooo cool … the original creator of Dragon Ball Z is coming over from Japan…Akira Toriyama himself!!!!! Reportedly it has been years since has left Japan. Can you possibly think of anything more cool ......"
This is the MUST ATTEND event for DBZ of all time!!! If you live in NYC, you better not miss this! Head to www.dbzcardgame.com for more information.

- Another Budokai Poster
•Yup, there's another, but not where you're thinking. Yes, the "real" poster will be included with U.S. versions of Budokai, but if you get your hands on a december issue of PSM, you'll find a nice surprise. A poster featuring 4 of your favorite characters, a catchy little phrase, and some totally awesome never-before-seen screenshots of the game. Unfortunately I'm cheap and don't own a scanner lol, so no pics, sorry guys. And I have to say that I'm pissed because it had the poster, but nothing included in the demo disc >.<, nor in the magazine itself...I mean come on people, how could they not even mention DBZ in the magazine when they had a huge poster in the middle of it? Lol. Anyways, don't go buy this if you want more than just something to hang on your wall.

- Greatest DBZ Event Ever!
•Check this out:
"There have been many, many super cool DBZ events in the past, but do you know about the grand daddy of ALL DBZ EVENTS? Well, on December 6, in New York City, get ready for the Shonen Jump America Launch Party, an event so unbelievably awesome in its scope that there will NEVER be another one like it!!!

So why will it be soooooo cool, and just what is this Shonen Jump we’re talking about? First, the reason that this event is ultra unique is this…the original creator of Dragon Ball Z is coming over from Japan…Akira Toriyama himself!!!!! Reportedly it has been years since has left Japan. Can you possibly think of anything more cool than the creator of Goku, Vegeta and the rest of Z-Warriors in attendance at this event? You honestly could not expect more of ANY event associated with Dragon Ball Z!!! All we can say is Wow! Double Wow! Triple Wow!

Second, Shonen Jump is one of the most popular and well-known Mangas (where the story of DBZ came from before the animated show) in Japan. It’s absolutely huge. Well, this big blowout will celebrate the launch of this very cool publication in America and give a warm “Welcome” to the cool folks at Shonen Jump. In fact, they are running a special promotion. For only $19.95 you can get a one-year, 12-issue subscription! When you consider that the news stand price is $4.95, that’s like saying, “Buy 4, get 8 free!”

And joining in on the fun will be Score Entertainment (the Hummer will be there!), Infogrames – the makers of the DBZ GBA games as well as the upcoming DBZ Budokai, Irwin Toys, the makers of the cool line of DBZ action figures, Viz Communications who produces Shonen Jump and Shueisha the parent company for all things DBZ, as well as our friends at FUNimation Studios!

Now you might wonder, where will it be and when? Here it is:

Friday, December 6, 2002
2:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Chelsea Piers
New York, NY 10011

We will be utilizing the MAIN TENT on CHELSEA PIERS, next to the Skate Park. The MAIN TENT is 4,000 square feet with outer walls at 9-feet and the center of the tent is 14-feet.

Sooo…It is going to be a day filled with DBZ superstars and fun! And Score Entertainment needs your help! We are looking for 60 die-hard fans to help us out with this event by volunteering and becoming a sort of Saiyan for the Day. Besides getting to go to THE Dragon Ball Z event of the century, you will also earn a CCPP II and more. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it will be on a first come, first serve basis. To register, click here to download the PDF and fax it back to us soon!

We are not kidding when we say that this event is the most perfect sparkling diamond of all DBZ events, ever. The question is, will you be there?"

- More Budokai Secrets?
•Well people, nothing official, but I finally spent sometime looking at screenshots of the game and noticed some wierd things.
1- Only 21 character openings are in the player selection screen, but 23 characters are supposed to exist. could there be more hidden characters?
2- If you drop by www.dbzonps2.com and browse through some of the more recent screenshots, you'll notice some wierd things. The one comparison I found that really sparked my curiosity were 2 of the new daily screen shots, which both featured Piccolo. Oddly enough, one of the Piccolo's had a different outfit on (which is captioned by dbzonPS2.com as looking suspiciously like Nail). But, if you look closer at the stats at the top of the screen shots, you'll notice differences in the facial expressions of the two Piccolo's. Perhaps it's some sort of glitch or something, but who knows.
3- Click here. You'll see a screenshot containing a pic of SSJ2 Vegeta and Goku fighting...which occurs after the Cell games. Now I'd love to know why that has been included in the game. The game is supposed to conclude at the end of the Cell Games. They've already pointed out that Saiyaman and Spopovich are in this game, and that saiyans may even go SSJ2...but it seems wierd that there is now the possibility of having 4 characters from post-Cell Games DBZ included in the game. Maybe they'll take it all the way through the series and have just kept their lips shut very tightly lol.
Anyways, this conspiracy crap I've just explained is probably total BS, but hey, maybe I'll get lucky and hit that 1/1,000,000 chance of being right about this stuff. Just thought you guys might be interested. Besides, every question we have about the game will be answered in just 2 weeks ^_^

- Revenge is sweet!
•I'm not sure if you've read this yet and I see no one else posted this, plus that this is the first time I have been on in about a week. Apparently, the guy who cut Toonami's time down last year is getting fired. Or lets just say he's in big trouble. Heres the story...
Jamie Kellner is due for a big payday.
The chairman of AOL Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting division is to get roughly $65 million from the company next year for his stake in the WB television network, The Post has learned.

The expected payout is fueling speculation among insiders that Kellner will take the money and run - or get the boot. But Kellner and AOL Time Warner deny it.

Kellner, along with Time Warner and the Tribune Company, formed the WB Network in 1995. The exec personally owns about 11 percent of the company, and AOL Time Warner is obligated to buy out Kellner's stake next year. Read full story...

- Budokai Producer Live Interview
•Chris Lundeen, associate producer of Budokai, did a live interview with GameSpot.com and gives some insight on the game. Of course for a good portion of it he talks about stuff we already know, but he does reveal a few interesting facts such as how money is awarded, how the capsules work, and a couple other things. There were two major things that caught my attention:
1- A player may collect an entire set of DB's, and once he gets all seven, the player may wish for something from Shenron.
2- Saiyans will not only be able to transform into Super Saiyans, they will also have the ability to go Super Saiyan 2.
If you want to check out the video, then click here.

Also, a few other things. Infrogames has stated that each character's original VA will be dubbing...so does this mean Infrogames sought out the old VA's from Pioneer? Who knows.

Finally, I just thought of a fun little idea that some of you may find interesting. I think it would be a great asset to Infrogames if they actually hired average fans like us to work on upcoming games, but we all know that's not gonna happen. Well, they do actually visit sites like this for pointers on how to design their games, so why not help them make a game the way you want it done? So, if you've got an idea for a DBZ game or just some concepts, send it to me and it will be put on the site later. Then everyone will have a chance to see what you've come up with.

- Budokai Will Release Early!
•Infrogames has announced that Dragonball Z: Budokai will be released early in the U.S. on December 4th, which is almost 2 weeks early! This info is straight from dragonballz.com, it's definitely official. There was something a bit odd though, the first time I went to the site, the news was there, but after that the old ad saying "check back tomorrow" was there. So I dunno, it might just be a glitch. But everyone I asked to check the site got the old pop up...wierd.

Anyways, nothing else is really going on, no word on movie 7. I think there might be some sort of surprise with this one, because FUNi is really keeping a tight lip on its production.

- New Humor, Script Update
•Frank has made an awesome pic where you have to count the amount of black dots on the picture ;). Click here to see

I have upgraded the image gallery script which has become pretty popular! I have seen alot of webmasters using it recently although some of you prefer to take the copyright off... please leave it on, so others can know what script it is. Any way, with the new script you can now search all the directories in your images folder, a few bugs fixed and a few features added.
Click here to download Image Gallery V3.2

Just really posting to move zero's post down, it was starting to gather cobwebs.

Update: The RPG v2.0 is in the works again, i've decided to bring it back so we began working on some bug fixes and more characters. It will be Anime Based(don't worry you can still pick DragonBall Characters) so FUNimation doesn't complain. A lot of the PHP will be updated to fix all the problems we had on v1.0
Now that I have access to the modify account page I re-added our supertop100.com button. -fRaNk

- GamePro Goes Budokai
•I just received this month's issue of GamePro, and I had to open it as soon as I saw it due to the awesome cover: Goku about to nail Frieza in the face! So, I got to the feature section and read through a 3-page article about the game. Aside from some new, and very sweet screen shots, the article settles a few rumors and nagging questions that have been floating around.

It opened with, of course, what motivated the production of new DBZ games: the drewling millions who watch DBZ daily, especially those who were craving something more after the oddly popular, video game failure Dragonball GT: Final Bout.
Later, in a section called The Ki To Success (lol, clever), the game is basically described to have a fighting style "similar to that of Virtua Fighter or Street Fighter"-Chris Lundeen, associate producer of Budokai. Then it basically goes into details about the techniques and moves that we pretty much know everything about already.
Following this comes a section with yet another witty title: Take Your Piccolo. And it goes into an in-depth explanation of how Budokai has been designed to satisfy three audiences: young fans (little kids), older fans (typical college dorks and older), and finally non-anime lovers who are just looking for a good game. This game, unlike the previous two DBZ releases for GBA, will be focused on all audiences, rather than just children. Basically, the brute fighting will appeal to all audiences, while character development, story lines, and famous techniques will help die-hard older DBZ fans integrate with the game to a greater extent. DBZ was even described as a soap opera during the article lol, and that is why the series has such a wide range of age groups watching it.
After that, game controls. No, it won't be difficult to pull off outstanding combos and finishing moves. Meanwhile, players have the option of having the one and only Mr. Popo assist them in purchasing skill capsules. So, you'll be guided through character developement too.
Finally, the article discusses the base for Budokai, which is everyone's favorite crappy game --- Dragonball GT: Final Bout. This game, according to the writer, Four-Eyed Dragon, had an excellent concept, but the PS1 simply did not have the capability of supporting all of the necessary components. So, what we got was a game that was falling apart before it even hit shelves. But now, thanks to the PS2's superiority, the game has been built to the standards that DBGT: FB had been expected of.
Anyways, in my own opinion, this article certainly opened my eyes, and I suggest all of you find some way to read it (sorry, but I'm too lazy to type 3 pages of stuff for you guys lol). It connected alot of points together that helped me make sense of all the things we've been hearing about the game. And WOW, I have to emphasize the incredible graphics...the article displayed several screen shots that very accurately resembled scenes from the actual series...absolutely incredible 3-D animation. Now then...for some Q's and A's:

Why is Budokai only coming to the PS2?
-Only 2 of the 3 systems can support the engine used to run the game: PS2 and Gamecube. And most of Gamecube's users are young children, and Gamecube makes up a very small percentage of the consoles in American households, so production was only focused on the PS2.

I heard rumors that there will be hidden characters like Goten, Chibi Trunks, and Cell Jr. Are there?
-Well, yes and no. In the article, it mentioned Cell Jr. is a character in the game, but it dosen't specify if he will be playable, or if he'll only be computer-controlled in story mode. I did see a pic of the character selection panel with a character that looks alot like Goten, but I'm guessing it was actually Goku lol.

I've heard some rumors that the game developers added online play at the last minute. So, what's the real answer?
-No, online play will not be an option. Sadly, the game began developing over 2 years ago, when online play was just a pipe dream. And now it is too late to go back and reformat the entire game to introduce multi-console play.

Are more DBZ games currently in production?
-Not sure if they are in production, but Mike Cucciarella (producer of all of the current DBZ games) enthusiastically stated that many more games are on the way. So I am fairly confident that we'll hear about a new game within the next 6 months. He also pointed out that he checks message boards and major gaming and anime sites (like this one) for feedback, info, and concepts on how to improve upcoming games.

Can you fly in the game?
-In a sense, but overall not really. If your opponent hits you in an upward direction, you will go into the air, then slowly float back to the ground, but your opponent may dart at you in the air to continue fighting.

Since the game is totally in 3-D, will the graphics suffer?
-No, as already indicated, Budokai can basically be seen as THE improvement on Dragonball GT: Final Bout, and all of the problems have been fixed, including the graphics.

How closely related is the game to the actual series?
-Well, it covers all of the sagas from the arrival of Radditz to just after the Cell games at the WMA with Saiyaman and Spopovich of course. Meanwhile, the original FUNi voice actors have returned to dub their characters, plus original sound effects from the show. Also...clips from the actual show will be included, so you won't just see 3-D immitations of events from the series.

I hope this answered many of your questions, and if you have anymore, E-mail me or post a comment. Hopefully I can answer them with help from the article or from info I have gathered elsewhere.

- More on the Anime Channel for USA
•"We spoke with ADV Films marketing director Ken Wiatrik today to get answers about the Anime Network, and while the company is being pretty tight lipped, we did get a few details.

While previous reports have been that the channel would probably be a pay channel and not basic cable, Wiatrik's feeling were different, "I don't know, but I would hope it would be basic cable. The purpose of this channel will be to expose people to programs and genres that they have not already been exposed to in the past."

What about the programming? Well, ADV's press release merely states "The Anime Network(tm) model is structured around four categorized content areas: Action Zone, Sci-Fi, Comedy Incorrect, and Horror/Martial Arts. These categories are designed to include virtually the entire spectrum of quality anime, while contextualizing content for new viewers unfamiliar with specific titles."

While Wiatrik wouldn't talk about non-ADV shows he did say that not all ADV shows would appear on the Anime Network, but they are looking at airing the following shows: Gunsmith Cats, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Getter Robo, Gasaraki and RahXephon. In fact, RahXephon will probably air on the Anime Network before it is released on DVD. "We will be premiering programs that have no shown in the past. RahXephon will be hopefully premiered on the Anime Network."

- PHP Tutorials added..
•I wrote a script earlier today that I thought would be essential to many sites who now use PHP(not to mention I wanted to show it off). This script allows you to have your own Custom 404 Page without using .htaccess files! The other tutorial I added was a "how to make a cookie" using php. Check them out in the tutorials section. I also modified the "Making a default page" php tutorial so it does the exact same function with less coding.

- A 24HR All Anime Channel for USA...
•Here's what SzR emailed me:
"John Ledford announced that ADV has just made arrangements to have a 24 hour All anime Cable channel (for the USA). I was able to speak to David Williams in production and was told that they have not decided if this will be a pay channel or just a regular channel. They are leaning toward a pay channel because they do not want to air it edited, but they may have to..."

- Special Delivery...
•No, I'm not Mr. McFeely lol, but I've got some stuff for you guys. First, I've noticed many sites are having difficulty supporting all of the DBZ trailers due to their popularity, and thus bandwidth is maxed out. So I had another site I work on, Dream-DBZ, put the trailers on its media server. It includes the "big" trailer, which is about 9.2Mb whole (4.7Mb for each piece). Here is Part 1 and Part 2. It also has the Japanese Trailer, which many of you haven't seen yet.
-Dream-DBZ

Also, in some more news which may interest you greatly, the Z Store will soon release the first Frtuis Basket DVD. It will have 2 episodes and cost ONLY $1.99! But the best part of the whole deal is that along with the 2 episodes, you will get a preview of DragonballGT! I'm assuming many of you will buy it just for the preview lol.

- Another PS2 Game?
•Yes, I sniffed out a clue lol. I, like many of you, receive the infamous ClubZ newsletter. Well, I found a tiny, tiny portion of it that I almost overlooked. I read over the brief description of Chris Sabat, and well...see for yourself:
"Christopher Sabat has been a major force in direction of modern American anime dubbing. He has been the director on over four hundred episodes and movies on many popular shows, including Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball, Lupin III, Blue Gender and Yu Yu Hakusho. His voice work has also been heard on countless commercials, cartoons and video games, including Vegeta and Piccolo from Dragon Ball Z, Yamcha from Dragon Ball, and Kuwabara on Yu Yu Hakusho. You will also hear some of his voices on some upcoming PS2 releases."
Please take special notice to the last word "releases." It's plural, meaning more than one. And I seriously doubt the other animes Chris is working on are popular enough to come to the PS2. So, I'm sure we all have yet another DBZ PS2 game to look forward to. But I'll try to confirm this with some other dependable sources.
Oh yes, I'm the man. :)
