- Marketers are using Anime to help promote sales ?
•According to an article at smh.com they are saying that marketer are now using anime shows like DBZ and Beyblade to help promote sales of Food products. This is the article:

***It's the 21st-century version of the spinning top, and children can't get enough. Each top has unique qualities, based on characters from Japanese-style cartoons, which go into battle with other tops. In typical 21st-century style, it's a marketing battle too. These tops are given away in potato chip packets, in a move which encourages boys aged five to eight to keep buying the same brand of chips and build up collections (UNREAL).

In Twisties and CCs, Smith's Snackfoods is giving away Tazo Topz, which feature the dragon-like characters from the Beyblade cartoon. Their rival, Snack Brands Australia - which makes Thins, Samboys and Cheezels - uses characters from another animated series, Dragonball Z.

The small, plastic tops - about the size of a 20 cent piece - follow the massive success of Beyblade's rip-cord spinning tops.

The chip manufacturers have seized the opportunity to use this craze for their marketing. But with children always changing fads, the manufacturers must constantly reinvent their collectable ideas.***

What can these people think of next....senzu beans....heh?

- I'm Baaack! (UPDATE)
•Hey DBGTN Fans, I am back after an extremely long break. I was mainly working on my site, which is down due to Saiyan Invasion's server. I mainly stayed quiet because many hackings were going on and I was spammed and had my site hacked. But I'm back here to do my job. I will be restarting the fan art. I had it un-organized so this weekend that will change that. I'll start making some Adobe Tutorials and maby add some content.

~~~Update~~~
Since this post is useless I decided to add some DBZ news so here it is:
The FUNimation producers are looking for bright new talent. Now’s your chance to shine and give it all you got. This could be your big break. Send in a three (3) minute VHS video tape of you singing karaoke to our new Dragon Ball GT theme song. Get in costume, make a stage, whatever it takes, but make it good. Remember this is your chance to shine.
Winners will be featured in a DVD extra in an upcoming FUNimation video release.
To participate in this contest, performers must submit an audition on VHS format video tape no longer than three (3) minutes in length. All video tape auditions must be postmarked no later than March 10, 2003 at 5:00pm CST. One entry per person.
Send your VHS tape and entry form to the following address:
P.O. Box 48610
Fort Worth, TX 76148-0610
- New contest?
•Well it has been declared Funimation said that they are going to change the contest. Funi is saying that fans can create their own version of the theme song of dragonball GT the winners will be included in future DVD releases as extras. The DVD will also feature the original Japanese openings and closings with the original music.
Funi probably gotten so many hate mails from the Dragonball fans that they probably had to change the contest....
Now if you live in UK you probably have already heard that DBGT is going to be on Cartoonnetwork and now they Cartoonnetwork has said that DBGT is now starting in March 3,2003 *not sure what time* but I hope that the fans over UK won't be dessapointed oover the english dub.....
Anime news:
According to the schedule of cartoonnetwork, they are saying that anime series Trigun premieres on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in March 31 and follow by with Inuyasha.
here is the schedule:
11:00 p.m. - Futurama
11:30 p.m. - Home Movies
12:00 a.m. -*Trigun*
12:30 a.m. -*Inuyasha*
1:00 a.m. - Cowboy Bebop
1:30 a.m. - Reign: The Conqueror
---"i haven't seen the trigun yet but i hear that it's extremely good, i can't wait for trigun and Ruinin Kenshin that is starting in toonami". And the last news is that Lupin the 3rd is going to be now a live action movie, Gerald R. Molen, producer of the Oscar-winning Schindler's List. He has the film rights to make a movie of lupid the 3rd and he is determined to make it a box office success. The maker of lupid the 3rd said that "I'm so thrilled I could fly, I want the film to continue as long as the 007 series." So other words this probably was his dream come true for him. *an updated of Bebop the movie, sony now said that the movie is going to be shown in April 4, 2003.*..........
.......thats for now .....LATZ
- Let the Reviews Begin...
•A topic in my last post was based on the practically dead site reviews portion of our community section. Well, after some encouraging feedback, I decided to put some life back into it. I will begin to review anime sites regularly, meaning a couple every week hopefully. I posted one review so far, and should have a couple more up by the end of the week. There is still the opportunity for you fans to submit your own reviews as long as you're registered members. I will offer unbiased reviews, with a very detailed review system so you guys will get the best reviews possible. I've already selected several sites to do first, but I'll also squeeze in those sites on the waiting list. Only God knows how long they've been on there lol. We're still working out a few bugs, but the whole package should be ready soon. If you have a particular interest in the site reviews, I'm just letting you know that any update concerning them will be posted in the community section.
- Random Stuff
•Greetings. I know, I know, I said I would put up a humor section last weekend, and I haven't...well, I'm sorry lol. As many of you can understand, unexpected things can happen that keep your hands tied. Unfortunately, now that I finally have some time, I'm just not in my "groove" and just can't seem to write anything even mildly humorous. But, I have a few small tidbits to toss to you guys.
First, this really dosen't relate to DBZ, but I figured 99% of you guys are fans of Final Fantasy VII. Well, PSM announced that FF VII will soon set a fad by having a sequel. After promising results from FF X-2 trials, developers have stated that other previous FF games will have follow-ups, probably starting with the series' 7th installment. In movie news, Spiderman 2 will begin production in April, and will feature Doctor Octopus (also known as "Doc-Oc") as the main villian...I was somewhat dissapointed in hearing that. I was hoping for Harry Osbourne to follow up in his father's footsteps as the second Green Goblin...oh well, I guess the 3rd movie will make room for that.
Now then, onto the site. I received a few e-mails over the past few days concerning glitches in the humor section. Hopefully those will be fixed soon. Also, I've been debating on doing a major overhaul of our site reviews in the community section. Unfortunately, it has been frozen, and thus forgotten about. Recently I got the urge to do some reviewing, but I figured before I got started, I would check in with you guys. So, if you'd be interested in seeing my reviews, leave some comments here or drop me an e-mail. Based on the results, I'll decide whether or not to go through with it. Once and if I do start reviews, I will provide instructions for getting your own site reviewed, and other details.
Finally, lately I've been receiving a fairly high amount of e-mail and instant messages about DBZ games, for what reason, I don't know. Most of these were about upcoming PS2 games and other games that are to be released soon. So here are my thoughts on these subjects to clear things up so I won't be swamped with more requests to answer people's gaming questions lol.
-Budokai, in my opinion, won't have a sequel, and really shouldn't have one. If it does, by some miracle, it will only include characters that are post-Cell Games. And it will probably be cheaper than Budokai. A new DBZ PS2 game will definitely be released in the furture, but will probably follow a different format or genre than Budokai.
-The continuation of Legacy of Goku will feature mild improvements, but will basically remain sub-par.
-Ultimate Battle 22 is not a good game, so don't buy it. Save your money for DBZ Legends, which will give you an awesome experience.
Ok, hopefully that'll fill some holes in your brains lol.
- Info on DBGTN Server
•Today I did some work on the DBGTN server to improve the security I increased the effeciency of the apache server along with a few patches here and there to make things run a bit smoother, I added a Server load script to the bottom of the site to show average server load time for 1,5,15 minute interals along with server uptime. The server should run a bit smoother now, I was running generally .5, .9 faster then before so I consider that good, and if we dont have any more DOS's that will help, if we have any more I'll just use SYN cookies and icmp_deny_all in the ipchains so it wont be hit as bad anyway, thats what I've done so far along with Deano fixing the Sig Vote on the Mini-Board along with adding some more features, peace.
