- Budokai Remains in the Spotlight
•I checked my mailbox and was surprised to find another e-mail from Jason, Budokai's online newsletter writer. Why was I surprised? - Because Budokai has become old news, I suppose. After several months of hype, people are beginning to see this as another nameless addition to video game libraries. Of course I don't think of this as just another game, but to the general media it isn't really outstanding anymore...or so I thought. Apparently Budokai will yet again be a flagship feature in several gaming magazines, most of which will be releasing their new issues in less than a week. Here's the guts of it:
"Thanks to all of you for the great support of DBZ. We also want you to know that in just a few days, you'll see Budokai again dominating the game magazines-- don't believe us? Check out the February Gamenow and Tips and Tricks, both issues are out in just a few days, with Budokai in a starring role... front-and-center on the covers."
Also, if you signed up for Jason's mailing list, you'll notice a very detailed strategy guide for using Frieza. Just another bonus for loyal fans, curtousy of Budokai's producers.

- Even more announcements..
•Thanks to all those who submitted our site to the Crossfire awards. Unlike last year, this time we won three awards: Most Effort, Best Webmaster and Best Anime Web Site. I would like to say Happy New Year to everyone and I hope that everyone has a happy and safe year to come. The RPG has been progressing and most errors have been removed just a matter of easing out database connections and adding the upgrades. One last thing, I would like to apologize for not having the gaming section up as i've been "busy" playing U.S. Navy Seals Socom online (I'm usually in the Australian Briefing room and my username is Supa_fRaNk for any who want to give it a go). As a new year's resolution i'll try to have more frequent content updates.

- Announcements...
•For the moment alpha/beta submissions for the mmorpg are closed I will sort out the entries and email a select few.
Any webmaster using fusion news I would advise you to remove it from your site(or temporarily disable it) and use a more secure news posting script. Contact the creators of the fusion news script and ask them to make sure all security flaws are fixed cause currently fusion news as it stands has more holes than swiss cheese.
One last thing, I have an original Playstation game of DragonBall GT: Final Bout (JAP) that I would like to sell(I have two versions of the game already). It's not new :( but it runs great. Includes booklet, cd case and I might throw in a back-up as well. If interested email me at webmaster@dbgtn.com and include an offer online or mail in payments accepted :)
UPDATE: I found a bug with the members auto-delete that deleted some newly signed up members so if you can't seem to login and you know for sure that your username and password are correct you will need to sign up again. Sorry to all those affected. If you still have problems just send me an email and i'll be glad to help.

- DBGTN's M.M.O.R.P.G. in the works again!
•I am now going to be choosing a couple alpha/beta testers to start testing and reporting bugs on the revised mmorpg. This new release should be an improvement to our server load from the previous version as well as many new features. You must be a member to become an alpha/beta tester, check out the forum [click here] to find out how to get picked. I will email the people I choose at the end of the day.

I'll try to get some images to go with the review once I finish the character's move list i'm working on. The gaming section we had a few weeks(or months) back will be re-added anytime soon.

- Official U.S. Budokai Site Open
•Yea, it's not much, but I haven't posted in awhile. The U.S. Budokai site has finally opened, and it just has that dragonballz.com look, but it dosen't really tell us anything we don't know. It opened about a month too late lol. Anyways, here's a link: Official U.S. Budokai Site.
Alrighty, that's pretty much all the news I have. But, I have about 3 weeks of vacation time, so I'll probably get a couple new sections up.
And, in case I don't post again for a few days: Merry Christmas!

- topdbz recoded
•I have recoded the topsites so a user isnt connected everytime a button is hit on the topsites, this cuts connects from around 300 at a time to 0, for viewing the button that is. And as a result of this change the topsite (http://www.topdbz.com) is loading alot faster :). It's a working beta version what i am trying out so im not sure if any errors will arise.
I have also updated the mbox script! You can now use it as a comments script for anything!! see the instructions when you download it to see about this function. Also people can't cloak the admin name unless they are the admin. Click here to download mbox v1.03.

- Updates..
•Here are this site's latest updates(it's a good thing AniBulletin was sent out, I wouldn't have remembered them all):
DBZ Budokai Capsule Section
DBGTN recently added a Budokai large capsule section, which lists all of the characters capsules, their price and their rarity, everything! Think of it as a guide to help you while playing DBZ Budokai for the PS2. DBGTN has taken time to give you the best advantage possible while using the capsules in the game. So what are you waiting for? Take advantage of this guide if you have the game. / DBZ Budokai Capsule Section
Akira Toriyama Biography Rewritten
fRaNk re-wrote and re-designed the look of Akira Toriyama's biography. It has been updated with his latest achievements and more. It gives some background information and who he is. For those who don't know yet, he is the original creator of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. He did not create Dragon Ball GT. Anyways, it's a great biography done again by DBGTN. Check it out. / Akira Toriyama Biography
Server Upgrade
DBGTN has just upgraded quite a bit of stuff on the server, including Apache Config, PHP, Firewall, PHP Accelerator and a lot of other stuff that has improved the site a great bit. This means that the DBGNT server is in top notch condition and the site should be loading faster. It shows that fRaNk is working hard to make sure that DBGTN viewers view it in the fastest and most user-friendly way.
Animation Cels Updated
DBGTN has just reorganized all of the animation cels, making specific cels easier to find. This is yet another step to making DBGTN much more easy to use. New cels have been added to the following categories: Android 18, Chi-Chi, Frieza's Goons, Master Roshi and Tien. / Animation Cels

- News...
•Here's most of the important news that has recently been posted:
Official DBZ Budokai Website Launched
After failing to meet about 2 opening date deadlines, the official DBZ Budokai site has now opened and is fully functioning. It is a very interactive site with lots of information on the Budokai and other DBZ Games. Its also a league where you can input numerous scores you've achieved in Budokai and see how you ranked in your region. Once again, a very interactive site, check it out at www.dbz-budokai.com
No TechTV Anime for Canada
Claude J. Pelletier, editor in chief of Protoculture Addicts has informed us that TechTV Canada (available on cable and satellite TV like Bell ExpressVu) will not carry Anime Unleased.
Tech TV Canada informed Claude that, “At the present time we will not be airing the anime program, however our Programming Department is constantly reviewing our schedule based on our viewer's feedback. Your comments do help us to evaluate our programming.”
Very few channels show anime in Canada. YTV is showing a few anime, and canadians can get some more through the American Networks such as FOX and ABC, but most of the better shows in the USA are shown on Cartoon Network which is not allowed in Canada because of CRTC rules. Now, Anime is being shown on a US station that has a Canadian sister channel, but the latter is not showing it.
Claude suggests that anime-starved Canadian fans should let TechTV Canada know that they would like to see those anime shows. Tech TV Canada can be contacted at the following co-ordinates:

Dragon Ball Heads up on Lycos Top 50
Dragon Ball stands astride the list of Lycos's top 50 searches for 2002, ahead of Kazaa and Yu-Gi-Oh. Several of the top contenders for recent years, such as one-time powerhouse Pokemon(41), have fallen significantly or completely dropped off the list.
Go to know that DBZ is holding strong.... Edit: "Lycos has inducted Dragon Ball as the “Web’s Most Wanted” for 2002. As the most searched topic on the Internet for 2002, Dragon Ball becomes the first topic to ever repeat as the top topic on Lycos. This should come as no surprise to our inquisitive fans. You know that Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z are the best, and there seems to be no limit to the amount of information you can find on the Dragon Ball franchise. And, with Dragon Ball GT on the way, we will be opening a new saga in the Dragon Ball trilogy. Thanks for making us number one, again! Keep watching, searching and enjoying Dragon Ball!" Shonen Jump / Viz Article
SFGate has posted an article about the history of Viz Communications and their recent introduction of Shonen Jump to the American market. Its a very interesting article that covers the foundation of Viz, the Pokemon phenomenon and Viz's potential chance to reproduce that phenomenon with Shonen Jump.
More Anime on Cartoon Network
Well it seems as if the new anime channel wasn't enough and with this headline:
Cartoon Network has aquired broadcast rights for Trigun, Lupin the Third and Reign
Excerpts from AOL Time Warner Press Release:
Cartoon Network today announced the acquisition of three animé series that will air during Adult Swim, its highly-rated late night block of animation for adults 18-34. The three series are Lupin the Third, Reign and Trigun.
If-Labs Auction Ends
"IF Labs would like to thank everyone who participated in the auction. It was a huge success not only for the charities but also for our winner.
Congratulations to:
Name: Jamal
Hometown: Biloxi, MS
Final Price: $2075
Jamal became an avid Dragon Ball Z fan about a year ago after watching the Majin Buu Saga, then seeing a commercial for IF Labs really got his attention. He is amazed by the detail and realism in each figure that IF Labs creates. With his sister having a baby on the way, he felt it was a better time than ever for a donation to support the health and welfare of children.
To sum it up in Jamal's own words, "It will be worth millions some day!"
Dragon Ball Perfect edition?
There is going to be a revision of the Dragon Ball mangas that were originally released in Japan. The re-edited mangas will be "perfect", meaning all errors will be removed and images will be re-drawn that were previously published on the originals. In addition, the new mangas will have new pages never before added (i'm thinking to correct all those questions that were left un-answered). According to ZG, all the revised mangas will have a new cover drawn by Akira Toriyama. As of now, only 2 of these "perfect" Dragon Ball mangas were released in japan. The following 2 mangas will be released sometime in January of 2003.
GameSpot's Videos Up For Grabs
•Well, most of you have heard about GameSpot's new Budokai videos, but when you've tried to download them, you can't because you didn't pay for membership. Well, DreamDBZ has come through for us all by offering all 6 videos for free.
DreamDBZ .
DBZonPS2.com has also made these videos available, and are of lesser quality (which is good for those of you who want smaller files), and you can find them in the video section. So here's a link to them too
