The Future Of The DBZ Web Community
The DBZ web community has faced a rapid decline
in recent weeks, and I think it’s clearly obvious to anyone, Webmaster or
regular fan, that if this keeps up then there will be no hope left for quality
DBZ sites on the internet.
Recently we have seen a fall of a few of the
greatest DBZ sites due to bandwidth costs, and various other reasons such as the
fantastic DB3K, and the legendary Dragon World. Planet Namek is another one who
are striving to avoid this terrible fate, and barely managing it so far.
They’ve had to remove pretty much all of their multimedia, making the site far
less attractive content wise, although more compact and less space absorbing,
what with the bandwidth restrictions and all. Whilst Planet Namek is still
probably the best site on the web even without its media, it’s a tragedy that
this fantastic source of news is struggling to stay afloat.
If this could happen to the experienced,
well-handled sites, then I guess it could happen to any of them, including ours.
This is seriously bad news for Webmasters, because advertising revenues have
been low lately, and cannot cover the increasing cost of bandwidth on the
server.
In case I’m moving too fast for some of you,
the term bandwidth can be defined simply as the amount of megabytes, or in some
cases gigabytes, that is downloaded from a server. This is forecasted in daily
amounts, and if it gets too high then you have to pay extra money for it, which
is a huge disadvantage of having a popular site. If you comprehend the situation
with bandwidth, then you can be more understanding of why so many sites have
shut down or withdrawn their multimedia.
With so many disappearing DBZ sites from the
Internet, one must wonder which direction the future on the online community
will go. There are many great sites still available to check out, and most of
them still attain their original multimedia, but regrettably if the
circumstances become anymore dire, these may go too.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to jinx
the fate of some of the top sites, I’m merely stating the facts. Hopefully
enough of the DBZ greats can stay afloat long enough to provide quality service
though, and I’m sure that with enough hard work it’ll be possible.
Whilst the bandwidth issue may be the main reason
for DBZ sites having to close down, it is not the sole factor. People have
become bored with DBZ, or less interested in it, some have developed personal
problems, or time-consuming social lives (I’m talking about being out all day,
ever day, not just for a few hours like a lot of people are). These are
overshadowed by the biggest issue though, which is annoying fans.
A lot of webmasters have either temporarily quit,
or completely given up on their site due to obnoxious fans submitting stupid,
pointless, and insulting e-mails which are unconstructive and a complete waste
of everyone’s time. The Webmaster’s have grown tired of this, and decided to
stop working hard to produce content for these arrogant, self-centered sods. It
is because of these people that the community has so rapidly declined, and if
you’re one of those you should be horrifically ashamed of yourself, you’ve
let a lot of others down.
There may be a lot of reasons, as already
mentioned, for a DBZ site to shut down, and quite often it happens, although
this doesn’t mean to say there is no hope in the future for the DBZ web
community. Webmasters will have to work a lot harder, and hopefully can achieve
new levels in terms of quality, whilst still keeping their site up. It is
definitely possible, if not probable that the vast majority of the DBZ sites
will make it through this tough, wallet-destroying time, and go on to flourish
amongst the other great internet websites.
Hopefully the DBZ community’s future will be a
thriving prosperous one, and in my opinion there is a good chance of this
happening as long as the foul-mouthed criticizing jerks can keep their idiotic
opinions to themselves.
