Summary:

Sage of the Karin Tower
Goku has now reached the top of the Karin tower and crawls his way through the small hole up the top. He pants and weaves for air, looking around for anyone or any water for that matter. He looks in some barrels, but then a voice tells him to come up. Goku walks out of the room and sees some stairs, so he ascends them. He walks up, asking for the hermit to give him the water. A cat standing there congratulates him for making it up, and rather quickly too. Goku walks up to him, asking for the hermit master, making the cat say that he is him. Goku is surprised to hear this, not knowing a cat would be a hermit! Goku then asks if he can have that water that multiples his strength, making the cat say that he must be talking about the sacred holy water, which is there. He points to the center of the room, where there is a vase on a pedestal. But, the cat wants to know something, which is why he wants to get stronger, when he's already strong as it is.

Goku tries to explain, making the hermit say that he doesn't have to speak, since he doesn't seem to think that speaking is good for him. Goku asks how he will know, making the cat tell him to be quiet. The cat stares at him, then says that he must get stronger to beat Tao Pai Pai. Goku screams out how he knew that, making the hermit say that he can read minds! The cat agrees, saying that his motives are pure at least, while Goku goes to the vase, asking if he can drink it? The cat tells him that he can drink it, if he can. Goku doesn't understand, asking if it tastes bad? The cat tells him that it tastes okay, he will just prevent him from drinking it. This catches Goku off guard, but catches him more, when the hermit jumps for the vase, and hits Goku with his staff.

Goku asks why he did that, making the cat say that he can drink it, if he can. Goku gets angry, saying that he'll do just that. Goku jumps, while the cat jumps too, and in mid-air, the hermit hits Goku in the face, making him go back. Goku yells out that he said he could drink it! The hermit explains that he said he can drink it, if he can get it. Goku then points over in another direction, trying to make the cat look. While the cat is looking, Goku jumps for the vase, but is smacked in the face, with the cat standing right there. Goku cries in pain, while the cat explains that he cannot trick someone who can read minds. The hermit picks up the vase with his staff, telling Goku he can have it now. Goku then tells him he made him mad and wants it now! Goku leaps for it, until they appear to be jumping all over the room, with Goku trying to get the water. Eventually, Goku wears out, saying that the old cat is fast. The cat scolds Goku, saying he may get it by the time he's dead. He's only reacting to his moves, not reading them. Goku pants, saying if he weren't starving, he could get it.

The cat questions him, saying he'll let him eat then. The hermit then throws Goku a bean, telling him to eat up. Goku yells out, saying it's only one bean! The old hermit explains that many have suffered over those words, since that is a senzu bean! It an leave a person full for ten days and keep them at great strength. Goku questions it, but eats it anyway. His stomach swells up, making Goku a true believer about it. Goku flexes his muscles, saying that he will get that flask now! The cat feels so bad for himself and they re-start the fight. Goku jumps for the water, but the cat jumps just in time, making Goku feel totally backwards. He looks back, seeing his incredible speed. They keep on going for hours and hours, until Goku is practically dead in the water.

Goku, while on the ground, asks if he was the first to come up here? The cat explains that there was one, about 300 years ago. Goku then asks how old the cat really is? The hermit explains that he must be around 800 something. Goku stammers on those words, asking if that's really true? The cat tells him to respect him, but also goes on to say, the other person, was his mentor. Goku doesn't understand, making the old cat say that he can tell who his master is, since he has Muton Roshi's moves.  Goku can't believe that, knowing that his old master came up here and got the water to get stronger! Goku, mouth open, can only say that he must be really famous. The cat explains that he should now be addressed by Karinsennin, or Karin! Goku has one last question, which is how long did it take Kamesennin to get the water? Karin puts up his hand, with three fingers extended. Goku thinks he means three minutes, but Karin corrects him, saying three years!
