Dragonball Z Episode
206: Gohan is Surprised Too! Goten's Explosive Power
(original, Japanese episode)
Piccolo is in a deep trance as he prepares
himself for the tournament. Dende says Piccolo’s ki is very large, but
Piccolo is worried that he isn’t strong enough and must prepare for Goku’s
arrival. Krillin is also training with his wife, much to his dislike, as she
pushes him to fight harder so they can win the prize money. Goten and Gohan eat
their breakfast and head out to train. They jump from treetop to treetop in a
hurry to begin, but as Gohan looks back, it appears he has lost his little
brother. Goten yells from behind a rock, appearing to have made a new friend in
a baby dinosaur. Gohan notices his brother’s innocence, the same that Chi-Chi
had described in Goku as a child. Gohan tells Goten he is going to begin his
training and flies off. In the underworld, it appears that Dai Kaio is upset
that Goku has been granted a day on Earth. Goku continues to train himself with
weighted bricks attached to his wrists and ankles. Lord Kaio seems very
impressed in how strong his pupil has gotten, and can’t wait to see Goku
fight in the Tenka-Ichi Budokai. Granny recommends that Dai Kaio train Goku
now, but he refuses, responding that he has something important to do.
Back on Earth, Gohan focuses, ready to train,
but just as he is about to make a move, Goten breaks his concentration to show
his brother a bug. Gohan tries to focus once more, but again Goten interrupts
to show off a lizard. Gohan scolds his brother for getting in the way. Finally,
Gohan gets off his attack, demolishing a large mountain, but Goten again
screams out, as he has caught a huge dinosaur by the tail. The T-Rex shakes off
the young Saiya-jin, almost sending him into a cliff, but Gohan is there to
make the save. He again scolds Goten and tells him to sit and watch. Gohan then
trains himself, throwing a barrage of kicks and punches, but he feels guilty
for punishing his brother. He asks Goten to help him train and gathers a load
of rocks and draws a line a few feet away. He tells Goten to stand behind the
line and throw the rocks at him so Gohan can work on his reflexes. Goten is
scared he will hit his older brother, but lets one fire, just missing the very
surprised Gohan. Gohan is quick to move Goten back a few more feet. After Gohan
gets the hang of Goten’s strength he tells him to scoot up, but Goten stops
throwing. Goten asks if he can change like Gohan, into a Super Saiya-jin. Gohan
starts to chuckle and says it takes years of training to reach a Super
Saiya-jin, but he is quick to eat his words as Goten transforms into an SSJ.
Gohan is shocked at his little brother, and asks him to spar with him. Goten
reveals that Chi-Chi has been training him, and a flashback is shown of Goten
and Chi-Chi fighting. Goten turns SSJ and knocks his mother down. Chi-Chi
thinks her son has turned into a punk and starts crying, making Goten feel bad
about transforming. Gohan and Goten begin to spar, with Gohan on the defensive.
Gohan flies into the air, but Goten doesn’t follow. He complains that Gohan
is being unfair since his brother can fly and he can’t. Gohan says he will
teach him how to fly, delighting the younger Saiya-jin. Out of nowhere, Videl
flies over the training ground on her way to Gohan’s house. He remembers he
was supposed to teach her how to fly as well, so he and his brother rush home
to greet her. Gohan warns Goten to not show Videl how strong he is and to not
transform. As they hurry home, Goten says Trunks is a little stronger than
himself, so Gohan says with enough training, Goten will also be able to fight
in the tournament. Gohan is also worried that these two young kids may surpass
him in power if he isn’t careful.
It appears that Chi-Chi and Videl are already in
an argument when Gohan arrives. Chi-Chi accuses Videl of showing up to ask
Gohan on a date, which Videl denies. Chi-Chi then accuses Videl of trying to
trick Gohan into marrying her at the tournament. Videl asks why would she do a
thing like that, and Goten responds that Chi-Chi married Goku at the
tournament, which prompts another flashback of those events. The two females
continue to get into each other’s faces, as it appears Gohan will never get
to train in peace.
