Pojo's DBZ Website Review
Site
Name: Pojo's DBZ
Layout
- 7/10
Nothing
too flashy, just the rudimentary fundamentals that I've come to expect
from all Dragonball sites. It has incorporated the sue of shtml, which
makes the whole layout look a lot neater than it would have been
otherwise, and the top banner is done fairly well. It isn't the best
I've ever seen, but it's certainly not the worst either. Everything is
arranged neatly, and easily accessible, with them placed into
categories, dependent on where they would best be suited. If they
would have put the links in alphabetical order, then it would be a lot
better, but I suppose it works fine as it is. Each of the pages are
well designed, and everything lacks the untidiness that many lesser
sites possess.
Content
- 9.5/10
This
site is full of content. There are tons of links to different parts of
the site, with varying, well-written information, and clever little
pages to keep fans amused. The information is accurate, and well
presented, and it is also a huge part of the site. Pojo's had all the
mandatory information that one would expect from a high-quality site,
along with intelligent extra's, such as innovative pages like training
locations, and character appearances. It is no surprise that this site
is second in the top 50, as I am still reading through its content,
even after the numerous times that I've been there!
Updates
- 8/10
There
seems to be a new update every time I return to the site, with
excellent content additions, and fascinating news articles. The bulk
of them are about card decks, and toy news, but the rest is all good
and interesting for the average DBZ fan. It doesn't have as many
updates as some sites, but it does have a lot, and they're all of an
average size. The maintainers obviously work very hard on keeping it
up to scratch.
Multimedia
- 8/10
This
is a hard one to rate. I must remember that comparing this to some of
the better sites in terms of multimedia will demean it a little, yet
if I compare it to some of the lesser sites, this looks amazing. My
reasoning for this is that Pojo's has a lot of movie clips, pictures,
music videos, etc. If this is the case, then why do I have doubts
about giving it a high score? The answer is simple - The quality of
the multimedia is barely average. The screenshots are of an appalling
quality, obviously taken from third rate fan dubs. I believe if you
are going to have something look as tacky as the aforementioned
screenshots, then you shouldn't add them at all, until you get a good
copy of the video/realmovie.
The
movie clips are hardly the best quality either, but there is a wide
selection of them, each portraying interesting events. I downloaded
one where Guldo gets his head blasted off by Vegeta, which was cut out
in the dub. It is an excellent source for unseen movie clips, there is
no doubt about that, and they are all enjoyable. The music video's are
good too, with some made by Switcher, who know works on this site. The
only thing that lets Pojo's down are the low-quality screenshots, as
everything else is impressive.
Originality
- 8/10
This
is a highly innovative site, as I have already mentioned. There are
many sections that I've never even seen before on any site, let alone
a Dragonball one. Pojo's are the creators of many great ideas which
have been emulated and copied, and it shows, as they portray every
clever section on their homepage, including 'What if...', 'Song
Parodies' and 'Dialogue Scripts'. Much of their material is done by
fans, but they were still the original creators of the sections.
Another
thing worthy of note is that nothing has been taken from other sites,
only from fans. This makes Pojo's almost completely original, and if
you exclude the fan content, it means that this site has created
everything themselves, which is quite an accomplishment for such a
large site.
Overall
- 8.5/10
An
immensely enjoyable site, and one that I would recommend to everyone.
It is one of the few sites that deserves its position in the top 50,
and the hard work put into it shows. Some of the best information and
original material on the web, including quality multimedia and scans.
This is one of my favourite sites, and one that I visit almost every
day. I suggest all you do the same, as you are missing out otherwise.
