Dragonball Z Episode 131: Our Hero Awakes

(dubbed episode)

The episode starts off with a deserted city, seemingly almost completely abandoned, but with a few strange exceptions, and those are of clothes randomly scattered around the floor. They seem to have been dropped by someone, or some people, all around the whole of the city, with there about as much clothes as there usually are people. It is revealed that these clothes are reminiscence of people who have been absorbed by that dastardly monster – Cell.

A man stands inside a small office room, machine gun in hand, frantically firing away at something, almost aimlessly. A crash sounds, and the target that he was attempting to acquire appears in the form of the hideous Cell. His bullets merely bounce off the brutal monster though, making him laugh maniacally, and slowly advance on the desperately terrified shooter. Seeing that all hope is lost, the gunner attempts to flee, but doesn’t get very far as he stumbles on one of his own bullet shells. Cell then ruthlessly stabs the man, who is currently paralyzed in fear, and begins absorbing his energy, until there is none left. A pile of torn clothes drops to the floor, their occupant now part of what the monster hopes will soon be perfection.

Thinking that everyone has been diminished, Cell turns to escape before Earth’s warriors turn up, but he hears a whimpering, and notices that a women and her little brother are cowering underneath a table. They panic and run, closely pursued by the monster, even though he is barely going faster than walking pace. The young boy falls over, but is quickly scooped up by his sister who runs off with him in her arms. She also trips up though, and hurts herself to the point that it takes her a while to regain her composure. Cell sees that they’re down and darts in, before stabbing his tail down to absorb them both. Unfortunately for him though, they’re no longer there, leaving him slightly puzzled, until he notices that Krillen has shown up, and saved the two. The midget puts the old girl and young boy down, and tells them to leave. The two run to a plane, and frantically begin to start it up.

Meanwhile Cell has immediately begun attacking, stabbing wildly at the bald guy with his tail, and hitting nothing but ground everytime. Krillen knows that he has to think fast, and upon seeing the fleeing plane fly over head, he uses a desperation attack – the solar flare, temporarily blinding Cell. He grabs onto the wheels of the plane, and is escorted away from the blinding white light, leaving Cell alone there to cry out in agony.

Krillen looks down as the light clears, and sees that his opponent is no longer there, and doesn’t notice where he is until the fiend pierces the roof of the plane, and searches inside the girl and child. Krillen hastily flies in, and delivers a powerful headbutt to Cell’s stomach, temporarily phasing him. The monster isn’t stunned for long though, as he delivers a powerful punch which sends Krillen first through one side of the plane, then half out of the other side, with his head sticking out. Cell moves over to him to finish him off, but Piccolo and Tien fly over the horizon, making Cell flee in terror, and escape once again. Once the Namek and human realize Krillen is fine, they curse that they couldn’t catch Cell. They all head back to Roshi’s house dejectedly.

Meanwhile Cell lurks literally just around the corner, smirking joyfully to himself at managing to fool them all.

At Master Roshi’s, everyone loads themselves into a small carrier craft, and take off, compressing their power levels so they don’t get detected by Cell, and can sneak up on him.

A little later on, Chi-Chi goes up to Goku, to find that he is no longer in bed. She fears the worse, and when the house starts shaking she assumes that it’s the Androids. Roshi has the same worries, but when they see that the rumbles are being caused by the super Saiyan himself shooting Kamehamehas across the water, they are overjoyed. He admits that he is in no shape to fight just yet, and needs to train to hone in on his skills, and that he will attempt to surpass super Saiyan, just as Vegeta suggested, leaving the amazing prospect that there could be a level above the seemingly indestructible super Saiyan.
