Dragonball Z Episode
190: From Father to Son, Goku's Spirit Passed Down
(original, Japanese episode)
Gohan believes he is done for as the rest of the
fighters hold on for dear life from the winds of Cell’s power up. Vegeta
realizes he is more of a burden than help and apologizes to Gohan for
interfering. Piccolo curses his inability to help his young friend. Even the
inhabitants of Planet Namek can feel Cell’s awesome power. Cell gloats about
his Perfect body, and a flashback shows Dr. Gero working at his computer as
Cell’s nucleus floats in a pod absorbing information. 17 and 18 question Gero
on his new creation, but he tells them to return to their chambers or he will
use his remote. Instead, 18 knocks over some equipment as 17 cuts off Gero’s
head. The head tells the androids their fate of being absorbed by Cell, but 18
just blows up Gero. The androids leave the lab and blow it up as well, but the
computer that holds Cell was left undamaged in the explosion. Cell emerges from
the lab years later and begins absorbing humans. Unable to find 17 and 18, he
steals Trunks’ time machine and returns to the past where he accomplishes his
task of absorbing the two androids. Cell reveals that Gero’s plan was not to
just kill Goku, but create a being that could rule the universe. With the
Saiya-jin cell inside him, Cell is able to grow stronger as he faces death, and
with a cell from Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza, he is invincible. He continues by
saying the Earth would have been destroyed in 10 years, but now that he knows
the instantaneous movement, he has nothing to fear and will destroy the earth
himself. 18 screams in Krillin’s arms as he questions if this is the end.
Cell laughs at Gohan as the entire planet shakes under Cell’s power.
Scenes from around the world are shown of towns
and streets crumbling from the earthquakes created by Cell. Chi-Chi is flipping
out about the TV not working and starts pounding on her father. Baba arrives
with her crystal ball and shows Gohan inside it. Chi-Chi sees the image of her
son with a shattered arm and faints.
Gohan tells Cell to finish him off so he can
rejoin his father in heaven. Goku’s voice is heard and he tells Gohan not to
give up because Saiya-jins never give up. He says that his son is the strongest
Saiya-jin and it is up to him and to use his best blast. Gohan complains that
he has only one good arm, but his father says that doesn’t matter. Gohan is
the strongest in the universe and has to win. The boy apologizes for getting
Goku killed, but Goku says he will always be with him and to get revenge for
his death. Krillin and Piccolo have no idea who Gohan is talking to, and Cell
thinks the boy has gone crazy. Gohan then powers up and pulls his arm back,
slowly saying, “KA-ME-HA-ME-.” Cell yells, “DIE!” and unleashes his
blast, and Gohan answers with, “HA!” and releases the energy wave. An image
of Goku stands behind Gohan with his hands outstretched as if he just fired the
blast himself, a symbol of his fighting spirit in his son. This is the final
showdown, but who will emerge victorious?
