Chapter Three

With Ken busy at Caps. Corp. working on a high tech new spaceship to get the team around the solar system, Goku and Jr. decided to search for the three star Dragon Ball on Earth. Who would think such a familiar face would be holding on to it? "That's a pretty big mansion!" exclaimed Jr. "I wonder who it belongs to." They calmly walked up to the fromt door and rang the door bell. When the door opened, Goku's jaw dropped. "Master Roshi!?! What are you doing here?" asked the surprised Saiyan. "What am I doing here? I live here! What are you doing here Goku, you old dog?!" replied the kame-senin.' He invited them in, and they sat down on a couch in a living room. Goku told him the whole story, and introduced him to Goku, who in turn, was introduced to Roshi and turtle, as well as Gamera© "So, you're off to space again, eh boy? Well, you should be used to it by now, you've been there so much already." said Roshi. "I know, and I plan on training Jr. here pretty hard on the ship. So, do you have a Dragon Ball to get us started off with?" asked Goku. "I sure do. I found this in the ocean one morning, 50 years ago, and from then on I knew you would return, Goku. We all missed you. Did you here about the big battle about 70 years ago, with those-..." "Shht!!!" Goku interrupted. "Jr. doesn't know yet." "How did you find out?" "Ken told me. How tragic..." "Well, Vegeta fought long and hard. I bet you're kinda jealous, eh Goku? He finally got his wish." "He deserved it. He trained far harder than I ever did, and finally became the strongest." Jr. was so preoccupied with the turtles that he didn't here a word of this secretive conversation. As Goku and Jr. left, they felt a great sense of pride about them. They had found their fist Dragon Ball in a new quest, and couldn't wait to get more. "Where are we off to now, goku?" asked Jr. "To Karin's tower, to get senzu beans, and then to Dende and Popo, to learn the rules of these new Dragon Balls." "Dragon Balls have rules?" "Don't worry, they've been broken many times before." answered Goku.

Karin was very surprised to see Goku again after so many years, like Roshi. They were given a dozen bags of senzu beans, five to a pack. They knew how to use them sparingly. When they reached Dende and Popo's palace, they got a very similar reaction from them. They told the story again for the third time that day, and asked about the rules for the Dragon Balls. "I'd like to tell you, Goku, but the truth is that I didn't create this set of balls.." "You didn't? Then who did?" "From what I can pick up, you did." said Dende. "What are you talking about? Are you saying I created these Dragon Balls special for myself while I was gone?" "Yup. There aren't any rules until you make them. Why don't you make some up right now?" "That sound great!" said Goku. "Now remember: these balls are a symbol of your strength, and they can't do any more than you can." "Ok, let's see, I want to have four wishes, and that no one with an evil heart can use them. I want them to be in-operable for one year after the wish is made, unless any amount of wishes is saved up. Saved wishes can only be saved for three years, and after that, they will be erased. How does that sound?" asked Goku. "Sounds great! But you forgot to name your Dragon. He can't be summoned without someone saying his name." "Alright, how about...- Gohan!?" yelled the Saiyan. "Sure, that's it! You have your own Dragon Balls now!" said Dende. All of a sudden, the tree star ball began to glow, and eventually stopped. Dende explained that this means that the Dragon Balls are perfectly functional, and ready for collecting. Goku and Jr. said their good-byes and flew away to Caps. Corp. where Ken had completed the ship, and was ready for take-off!
