Dragonball Z Episode 189: A Nightmare is Reborn. The Absolute Terror

(original, Japanese episode)

As the terrified Z warriors look on, Perfect Cell stands ready to fight Gohan once again. Even Goku is shocked because the only thing he accomplished was killing Kaio, Gregory, Bubbles, and himself. Cell then explains how he survived. There is a small lump of nerves in his brain that act as his nucleus, and if the nucleus remains undamaged, he can regenerate any of his cells and recreate his entire body. A flashback shows Cell blowing up and destroying Kaio’s planet. In the remains of the explosion floats the nucleus and it recreates Cell, but much to his delight, in his Perfect form. He also learned Goku’s teleportation move. Gohan transforms into Super Saiya-jin 2 and laughs at his foe. Cell asks why the boy is laughing, and Gohan replies that he is happy, happy to be able to avenge his father’s death.

Vegeta looks at his dying son, Trunks, as the boy from the future vomits blood. Yamcha tends to Trunks as Vegeta looks back on the events that just took place, Goku’s death, Cell’s blast on Trunks, and Gohan’s promise to kill Cell for his father. Vegeta’s pride gets the best of him, since he is the prince of the Saiya-jin race, and he decides he should be the one to kill Cell, not a low-class fighter like Goku or his son Gohan. He powers up into Super Saiya-jin form and attacks Cell. The prince fires a ki blast that hits Cell right in the chest, but it does no damage. Vegeta goes ballistic, firing hundreds of blasts at his enemy. He stops momentarily and yells that he is the Prince of the Saiya-jins and will kill Cell, then resumes firing at will. When he finally stops, the dust lingers around Cell as Gohan and Vegeta wait to see the damage done. Suddenly, Cell emerges from the cloud of dust and backhands Vegeta, sending him crashing to the ground. Cell tries to finish him off with a final blast, but Gohan dashes in front of it and covers the prince as the blast connects on Gohan. The smoke clears and Gohan is lying on an unconscious Vegeta. He stands up, but blood flows from his shattered left arm that hangs lifeless at his side. Piccolo yells for a senzu bean, but Krillin says they are out. Cell puts his hands together and charges up the Kamehameha, promising that Gohan will die along with the planet. Cell is ready to finish off the young man, but with one arm, will Gohan stand a chance?
