Dragonball
Episode 96: Kuririn's Great Attack
(original, Japanese episode)
The battle rages on between Kamesennin’s two
disciples. Kuririn kicks Goku to the ground and lands with a big smile on
his face. As the crowd looks on in shock, Puar starts praying that no one
gets hurt. Oolong says Kuririn will be fine, because you can’t hurt an
eight ball! Bulma whacks Oolong over the head for the terrible joke.
Goku and Kuririn stare each other down, and then Goku compliments his friend on
his increase in power. Kuririn realizes that Goku is just having fun while
he himself is trying to survive. Goku says, “I’m going to crank it up!
Don’t die!” Kuririn urges Goku to bring it as Tsurusennin complains
about the fight dragging on. Goku runs full speed at his bald counterpart
yelling Kamehame—then leaps into the air and yells, “HAAAA!” as he fires
his energy wave into the sky, propelling him straight at Kuririn. He
punches Kuririn in the face and sends him flying. Kuririn hits the ground
with his eyes about to roll into the back of his head. The crowd stares in
disbelief as Tenshinhan notices Goku has been in some serious battles.
Goku tells the announcer to start the count, and he gets to six before Kuririn
springs to his feet.
Lunch roots for Kuririn, but Tsurusennin claims the match is boring. He
doesn’t want to see a match between friends. Chaozu blames himself for
the match, but Tsurusennin says the Turtle school had an easy drawing.
Lunch yells at the Crane elder to shut up and watch.
Kuririn and Goku go into another flurry of kicks and punches and they seem
evenly matched. Tsurusennin continues to complain just as the fighters
reach a stalemate. Kuririn decides to all out attack and lunges at Goku
with a punch, but Goku sidesteps and throws a chop to the back of Kuririn’s
neck. Kuririn flops to the ground but bounces back up and starts running
around Goku in a circle. He then stops and to strategize. He says,
“If I take him head on, I’ll lose.” Kamesennin is amazed with his
students, saying that even Kuririn is at a master level in fighting.
Kuririn then decides to attack Goku with Goku’s trademark move, the Kamehameha,
but as he charges, Goku tells him to stop. He tells his comrade that the
move won’t work on Goku and it will just be a waste of energy. Kuririn
fires it anyway, but Goku blocks it with his hand. As the smoke clears
Kuririn has disappeared. Goku looks around, and his friend appears behind
him and grabs his tail. Kuririn screams that he will be victorious because
he has a hold of Goku’s weak spot. Tenshinhan looks surprised, and
Kamesennin compliments Kuririn’s thinking. Kuririn squeezes the tail and
Goku starts to fade toward the ground. He finally falls on his face and
looks as if he is out cold. The announcer starts the count.
Tenshinhan talks to himself saying that Goku is vulnerable and he will face
Kuririn. “Too easy,” he says.
The announcer gets to nine and Kuririn gets excited, but then Goku springs to
his feet and flips over Kuririn, then dropping his opponent on his head.
Everyone is amazed. Kuririn asks how that was possible and Goku says he
strengthened his tail in the three years of training. A flashback is shown
of Chi-Chi grabbing Goku’s tail and him going limp, then another of Gohan
doing the same thing in a tournament. Kamesennin remembers telling Goku to
train his tail, but it would have been no east feat. Another flashback
shows Goku training with a pack of monkeys that hang from each other’s tails.
Kamesennin again compliments Goku’s dedication to training and admits Goku has
no weakness!
Kuririn again attacks and hits a sucker punch to Goku’s face. Goku
claims that was a dirty shot, but Kuririn says, “All’s fair in war.”
Kamesennin then sees Goku’s true weakness; he is too sincere and dedicated.
Goku looks mad, and an intense stare down begins. Kuririn then attacks
wildly with a flurry of kicks and punches, much to the encouragement of Bulma
and Lunch. Goku continues to dodge the attacks, but Kuririn lands a brutal
punch to Goku’s chest and sends him spinning to the ground. Goku gets
back up and spins like a top till he disappears. Kuririn can’t find his
opponent, and neither can the crowd. Tenshinhan admits even he can barely
see him, but Goku is moving extremely fast left to right and getting closer and
closer to Kuririn. Finally he reappears and scares the hell out of Kuririn
with a scary face. Kuririn falls backward in fear, but falls out of
bounds! Goku is declared the winner. The crowd and the announcer
claim they loved to match but it was such an anticlimactic ending.
Tenshinhan thinks otherwise. What the crowd couldn’t see was Goku punch
Kuririn eight times in the chest and then kick him to the stomach to knock him
out of bounds. He just moved so fast that no one saw it. Tsurusennin
and Kamesennin can’t believe the skill of Goku. The final match is
announced to take place the next day as Goku helps Kuririn up. Kuririn
asks how he fell out of the ring and Goku tells him he will show him later.
The sun begins to set and the two fighters meet up with Lunch, Bulma, and
Oolong. They compliment Goku and Kuririn and decide to go eat as
Tenshinhan looks on. Who will win the championship: Tenshinhan or Goku?
