Are You Single? Find Love
Humble Beginnings
Part Three
This section explains how each and every character
from DB/Z/GT was introduced into the series. It can serve as a great reference
guide on any character's origin, and might fill in some things you did not know.
In addition, the episode number is included (maybe I'll update it with manga
chapters someday as well)
41. Uranai Baba - After defeating the Red
Ribbon Army, Goku needs only one more Dragonball - yet his radar won't pick it
up! Bulma tries fixing it, but nothing seems to be wrong. Master Roshi says that
the only way they will be able to find the last ball is by contacting Baba, the
world's greatest psychic, who can find anything lost with her crystal ball.
Yamcha, Goku, Krillen, Upa, and Puar travel there only to find that the fee for
fortunetelling is 10 million zeni - however, they can avoid the fee by defeating
Baba's five fighters. (DB:69)
42. Grampa Gohan - The last
of Baba's five, he is introduced with a mask on, hiding his identity. However,
Roshi and Goku still sense a familiarity about him. Goku fights him for a while,
and has his greatest weakness, his tail, exploited in the fight. Afterwards,
Gohan takes off the mask, and Goku gets a rush of emotion from meeting his
long-lost (and dead) grandfather. Bulma tells Gohan what his grandson has been
up to in the last year. (Gohan is earlier seen in the five fighters 'locker
room' complaining about his costume to Akku-Man) (DB:73)
43. InoShikacho - During
Goku's 3 years training under life, he comes across a town plagued by the
monster InoShikacho. In reality, two martial artists are going from town to
town, letting the monster loose on the people, 'killing' it and asking a reward,
thus making money. This monster was once Roshi and Tsurusennin's pet. (DB:82)
44. Tien Shinhan - First seen
hoarding InoShikacho from town to town for cash, at people's expense. He is
later seen confronting Master Roshi's pupils at the 22nd Worlds Tournament, in
which he competes. (DB:82)
45. Chaotzu -
First seen hoarding InoShikacho from town to town
for cash, at people's expense. He is later seen confronting Master Roshi's
pupils at the 22nd Worlds Tournament alongside Tien Shinhan. He later competes
in this Tournament. (DB:82)
46. Master Shen - Otherwise
known as the Crane Hermit, he arrives at the 22nd Worlds Tournament to challenge
his longtime rival, the Turtle Hermit. Roshi accepts the challenge from the
annoying Shen, who has brought his two best pupils, Tien Shinhan and Chaotzu.
(DB:84)
47. King Chapa - Goku is put
up against King Chapa in the Elimination Round of the 22nd Tournament. Jackie
Chun is worried, for King Chapa won the 20th World Tournament without even being
touched. Goku stil manages to defeat him, despite Chapa using his eight-handed
technique. (DB:85)
48. Man-Wolf - As the
Announcer calls the eight finalists together, one seems particularly furious
with Jackie Chun. Although he won't tell his reason, he seems upset that he is
stuck in a wolf form as opposed to a an form, and blames Chun for this. Tien
Shinhan and Chaotzu later figure out that because Jackie Chun destroyed the moon
at the 21st Budokai, Man-Wolf is stuck in wolf form. (DB:86)
49. Panputto - During the
drawings, where he is first seen, he remains mostly quiet. He draws into the 4th
match versus Goku. Later, we find out he is a famous movie star. (DB:86)
50. Master Mutaito - When
Krillen is found dead after the 22nd Budokai, with the sign of King Piccolo left
on a piece of paper nearby, Roshi goes into a flashback about this demon. Roshi
and Master Shen once studied under Master Mutaito, one of the greatest fighters
of all time. When Piccolo's forces arrived, Roshi and Shen fought the minions,
but coud not defeat Piccolo himself. This is where Mutaito comes in - he fights
Piccolo but loses. After much training, he comes up with a new attack, the Evil
Containment Wave. Mutaito captures Piccolo in a denshi jar, then dies in the
effort. (DB:102)
51. King Piccolo - He is
first seen in Roshi's flashback as well. He fights Mutaito, winning the first
match, but is then captured in the Denshi jar for hundreds of years. In the
present, he is found sitting on a throne in Pilaf's airship, declaring that he
will gather the dragonballs to wish for eternal youth, then overtake the world.
(DB:102)
52. Piano - Piccolo's right
hand man. Like in the rest of the saga, he follows all of Piccolo's orders,
although when we first see him, all he is doing is standing by Piccolo's side.
Fun. (DB:102)
53. Tambourine - He is first
seen flying back towards Piccolo and Pilaf's airship, carrying a list of
Tournament participants and Goku's four-star ball. He had just recently murdered
Krillen, stealing the dragonball and the list. He is unknowingly about to be
confronted by an angry Goku. (DB:102)
54. Cymbal - Piccolo decides
he needs another minion to find the dragonballs, while Tambourine hunts down
Martial Artists. Thus he creates Cymbal, spitting him out as an egg, which
hatches. Cymbal proceeds to go after the one-star ball, near the ship.
(DB:104)
55. Yajirobe - After losing
badly to Tambourine, Goku finds himself lost in the woods and starving. He comes
across a large fish being cooked on a stick, which he eats. However, he is then
attacked by a mountain man who is upset that his breakfast was stolen. Goku and
Yajirobe fight awhile over this, until they are confronted by Cymbal.
(DB:104)
56. King Furry - East City is
in celebration, as it is the 20th anniversary party of King Furry, the world's
ruler. However, in all the festivities, explosions begin to be heard, as a
rejuvenated King Piccolo and Piano invade the King's Castle in hopes to take
over the world. The King is given one choice - announce resignation or die.
(DB:113)
57. Drum - King Piccolo
leaves King's Castle to have some fun, destroying West City. That is, until he
is confronted by an angry Tien Shinhan, wanting a fight. Piccolo, feeling lazy I
guess, creates another warrior, Drum, to fight Tien Shinhan. Drum shows
dominance over Tien Shinhan - until the warrior decides to attack Piccolo
himself, instead. (DB:119)
58. Piccolo Jr. - In their
final fight, Goku rips through Piccolo Damioh, creating a large hole in his
stomach. Piccolo, knowing he is done for, spits out another egg into the
mountains, transferring all of his power to this creature. The egg is discovered
by an old woman and old man, who watch the hatching of Piccolo Jr. He proceeds
to burn their house down. (DB:123)
59. Mr. Popo - Since King
Piccolo destroyed Shenron, Goku is told by Korin that the only way he can wish
his friends back to life is by meeting Kami, the creator of the dragonballs.
Goku uses his nyoi-bo to reach Kami's lookout, where he finds Mr. Popo. Mr. Popo
tells Goku that he cannot meet with Kami until he defeats him. Goku is unable to
do this. (DB:124)
60. Kami - Since Goku is
unable to defeat Popo, he is told he must train at the lookout until he can, in
order to meet Kami. However, Kami decides to show himself anyway. When Goku
first sees him, he jumps into a frenzy, because Kami looked so similar to King
Piccolo. (DB:125)
61. Shen - Really Kami in
disguise, this is a participant in the 23rd Worlds Martial Arts Tournament. This
nerd-like guy seems to win all his preliminary bouts by sheer luck, even when
defeating Yajirobe. He ends up in Match 4, fighting Yamcha. (DB:135)
62. Anine - Goku and Chi-Chi
are about to get married - until the Ox King's palace is overtaken by a huge
fire, trapping the Ox King inside. Goku and Chi-Chi travel to the end of the
Earth to find the source of the fire - a giant furnace which keeps bad spirits
from entering this world. Anine, the fire's caretaker, says that there is no way
to put out the fire without endangering Earth - until she sees Goku's Bansho
Fan. (DB:152)
