Red on the Rampage
Red's Strengths and Weaknesses
Ok we all think the same thing when someone says a red deck, Anger. Pure and
simple red is anger and many decks prove this point true but in this article I
will break down the style of heat, and see what really makes this beast tick and
how to stop it.
What is this style about?
Red, we all think this style is just about
anger pure and simple, but its not. With the cell saga out and all of its new
masteries red got a serious flip side. Red always from the beginning had some
huge attacks, in the saiyan saga almost all red attacks did +3 stages of damage
now with the new mastery you get to remove one of the from the game, just as
the old one did, but instead of anger you get stages. You make those +3 attacks
now +6. Any style that has attacks doing +3 through +9 has a right to be called
beatdown.
About the Red Masteries
Yeah red got a new mastery that helps with the
physical attacks but what happened to the anger? Ok its still there, just now
you got the huge physical attacks but at the sacrifice of the anger. Either way
the two masteries counter balance each other, either slow on the anger or slow
on the attacks. As I said before anger is still there but as any one can see
you don't really want the new mastery if you are going for a normal tournament.
Red is too based on anger now to change it for a normal tournament, your deck
is just too cut up. You want all of those good attacks but you too want all of
that anger. In this case you can't have your cake and eat it too without
sacrificing something. Red's new mastery is all about tuff enough, this goes
great because now you don't need that raw speed to over take your opponent, and
you can focus on killing your opponent with those huge physical attacks.
Red's Weakness
Red has some major draw backs though, like
black it has some major non-combat removing problems, you got the cards that
nuke drills yes. You got a couple of them, but those dragon ball searchers and
those allies still stay there. You now think about playing Red King Cold
Observation. Well, that is good, but if not played at the right time (the right
time being you have 4 anger and can level up) you are stuck at zero power
stages. Your physical attacks do little if any and you can't perform any energy
attacks. Your opponent will be plenty mad at you for taking those non-combats
away from him and he will take advantage of you if he can.
Also red has a major problem with energy, if
you go with red you need energy protection. You can add 3 red energy shield but
those are small compared to a 75 card deck and they don't raise your anger.
Then you think well I will use Trunks he has tons of anti-energy powers, but
like the black style this also makes you play a certain arch type and your
opponent knows what cards to get out right away. Not to mention piccolo the
trained gets rid of your power leaving you completely open to energy attacks.
Red is a good style with the ability to win the game within a few short turns.
Remember if you can't your opponent can and will take advantage of you letting
him tare you a new blow hole. Play it if you wish but remember to watch out for
those db decks (which run blue so you lose a lot of anger) and those black and
orange energy attacks that not only hurt you but may play piccolo the trained
to nuke all of your defense.

IQ's Note:
Red
is currently all about Anger and Physical beat down but once Master Roshi is
released in the Capsule Corp Power Packs we might see a new type of red decks. Will
red show us the real power of allies? 0.o
