A-Kon - Day 3 Journal Entry : June 3, 2001
Today was a relatively short day for me. I felt I had seen everything I
wanted to see and only wanted to get autographs. I picked up Josh at 10:45 A.M.
and went to the convention. We get there at 11:30 and Kyle tells me they have
moved the autograph signings outside the dealer’s room. We get in line and
get Dameon Clarke (Cell) and Mike McFarland’s autographs while the two
entertain the crowd with their voice talents. Clarke stayed in character the
whole time, signing items with “You Suck! Cell.” It was very funny.
A line
started for Chris Sabat and Meredith McCoy’s signing, which was taking place
3 hours later, so we hopped in line. Josh ended up first and me third. At 1:30,
it was announced that the signing was taking place elsewhere so there was a mad
rush to get to the new place. Somehow, I ended up first in line and Josh about
30th. Sabat and McCoy arrived at about 2:10 and started signing. Meredith McCoy
looks just like her character, Android 18, except with longer hair. Mike
McFarland joined the other two to sign autographs. Sabat excited the crowd with
Vegeta lines and started signing like mad. I only got two things signed by the
actors and had to go to the end to get more. The line was unbelievably long.
After waiting another hour and a half, I got to the front and got the rest of
my things signed and took a group picture of the three actors.
By now it was
4:00 and time for my last shift. I worked the loading docks, directing traffic
on where to go. At 6:30 I was cut loose and my weekend at A-Kon was finally
over. Overall, I did miss a lot of events that took place after 7:00 P.M., but
I was so tired after my shifts, I really didn’t care. A-Kon was awesome; I
met a lot of new people, and have a lot of memories. I will definitely attend
next year.
