Summary:
Preliminary Rounds Survival
People now start to draw numbers for their spot in the preliminary rounds.
Krillin is number 71 in the second block, last part, Goku is in the first block,
the second block too, and Yamcha is in the first block, but the first part. Goku
asks Jackie Chun where he's at, in which he reveals to be number 178 in the
fourth block. Krillin is excited to hear that, since that means they will all go
to the finals if it works out right. The head referee then starts to announce
the rules and regulations of the Tenkaichi Budoukai, including that eight people
will go to the finals, out of 182. They will be chosen out of the preliminary
rounds, which they will do now. The fights will be one on one with a referee
judging the fight the whole time. The rules are, no hitting below the belt, no
crying, no weapons and no protective head gear. If you go unconscious, fall out
of the ring, or kill someone, you lose. After hearing that, Goku waves good-bye
to Krillin, saying good luck.
At the first block, the referee asks for the first number and the second number
come up to start the rounds. Yamcha steps on the platform, saying that this will
be easy. Goku wishes Yamcha good luck, while the fighter of Yamcha hopes that he
loses horribly. The referee announces the start of the match, making both
fighters go into fighting stances. Yamcha's opponent then goes in for the
attack, but Yamcha sees the kick a mile away. Yamcha goes in for the
counterattack, hitting his fighter in the chin, knocking him out. Everyone is
impressed, except for Goku. The referee announces that number two is the winner
by knockout! Goku tells Yamcha that he really has improved, creating a huge
smile on Yamcha's face. Yamcha then points to Krillin, telling Goku that he's up
now. Goku sees him, saying he'll do well. A huge fighter looms over Krillin,
making Krillin act very politely, saying that may the best man win. The fighter
smiles, saying he doesn't hurt the little baby too badly! Krillin switches
moods, asking if he was calling him a baby? The giant throws his hand down to
grab Krillin, saying that he will crush him! Krillin grabs his finger and
changes his body weight to make the huge man go over his head. The man doesn't
see it coming and flies quickly into the wall, knocking him out!
Goku tells Krillin that he has improved successfully after three years of
training! Krillin agrees boastfully, saying that it's only natural, since
trained so hard. Tenshinhan then comes up, asking if they actually made it past
their first round? Yamcha asks what that's supposed to mean? Goku is confused,
asking what he means? Krillin tells him that they did and they will win in the
finals, so he had better watch out! He tells him that Tsurusennin's team is
going down! Tenshinhan tells him to calm down, saying that this is only the
preliminary rounds. If they actually meet later, then he will show no mercy and
win easily. Tenshinhan smirks, saying that of that eight people, he will go the
finals, but he doesn't know about them. Yamcha flicks him off, telling him to
take his garbage elsewhere. Tenshinhan makes on more remark, saying that he's
the number fighter! A referee asks for number 99 and number 100 of the third
block to come forth, allowing Tenshinhan to leave, saying that he hopes they
will meet so he can beat them badly. Yamcha tells him that they will win, while
an angry Krillin is furious, seeing that that loud mouth idiot tried to do that.
Krillin vows that he will not make him world champion! However, they do want to
see him fight, which Krillin offers to his friends, so they can see if their
"friend" is actually good.
Goku tells him that he is and will win easily. Krillin asks if that's true, but
will be answered shortly, since the referee has announced Tenshinhan's fight to
go! Tenshinhan is fighting a sumo wrestler, who goes in for the first attack.
Tenshinhan smiles, while getting into a fighting stance. Before the wrestler can
even touch Tenshinhan, Ten pushes air off his hands into the wrestler, making
him stunned, until finally falling on the ground. Tenshinhan is walking away,
even before the fighter falls, making the referee announce that number 99 is the
winner by knockout! Every other fighter that has watched can't believe their
eyes, seeing only air won. Yamcha tells himself that all he did was four
punches, and Krillin adding that he did two kicks too. Goku is excited to see
this, while Krillin asks if he really wants to go against that guy? Tenshinhan
tells himself that those idiots won't even make it past the preliminary rounds,
much less him.
After a while, Goku finally has to fight. Krillin and Yamcha both watch, yelling
for him to win since he's been gone for so long! Another fighter, King Chapo,
steps in, bowing to Goku. King Chapo tells Goku that he won't win against this
great fighter. On the sidelines, people point and stare, asking if that fighter
is really King Chapo? Yamcha overhears this, telling Krillin that that's King
Chapo, an extremely great fighter! Krillin questions him, while Yamcha explains
that he trained greatly, coming into the Tenkaichi Budoukai several times,
almost becoming the winner. He's trained really hard now and is presumed to not
want to lose this one! Krillin understands now, making Yamcha further explain
that eve if Goku has trained this hard, he may not win. He tells Krillin that he
just has no chance. The referee signals for the fight to begin, making Chapo and
Goku taunt each other.
