I'm a bit on the moody side and I respect peoples
opinions. This editorial was not intended to offend anyone but to open their
eyes. The 70's were the years when sex, drugs were the fad. Now, it's business,
money and love. I've read some editorials and read one that indicated that most
websites forgot the meaning of "for the love of DBZ". Although sites
may seem to be webpages that dedicate their work to DBZ, most of them gain
profit of their website or look only to be popular because rejection in life
seems to be the main theme of their life. Many of you may or may not agree with
me about certain things but these are MY opinions and if you have anything to
add to what I'm about to say then please reply with dignity and intelligence.
Everything could be categorized into categories. I figured I'd attempt to
categorize the different type of Dragon Ball sites out there. There are 6 of
them, The Normal, Pure Shit , Wanna be site , Wanna be site stage 2 , Close to
perfect , Close to perfect 2.
The Normal
These websites are potentially good. The layout
may be great or plain but it's simple and pose no problem to the surfer. The
website is slick, organized and nice. The webmaster is friendly and replies to
all e-mails unless he/she receives 200 + mail in one day, which is completely
understandable. The webmaster/webmistress is most likely not to care too much
about his/her hits but check it from time to time. A pretty average site if you
ask me.
The Pure Shit
The title speaks for itself. People want to start
a website. Their first one most likely won't be a success although there are
exceptions. The layout makes you want to vomit, unoriginal content is flashing
everywhere and you see the " please vote for me if you want more
multimedia. More votes = more work ". Some of these site have some bit of
intelligence and don't add background music. These type of websites have room
for improvement and it's how most people start out.
The Wanna be site
These DBZ sites look great at first but once you
get to know the webmaster(s) and the site better , you will want to run away.
These are the type of websites that wants to have it all. DBZ information,
multimedia, humor and anything that's everything. If they see a certain thing is
becoming popular on a website, they will try to do something of the same nature
but better. I did say TRY. The webmaster usually says he'll have THIS up by then
but makes up an excuse when the due date arrives. Why didn't I say webmistresses
? I honestly find that girls aren't greedy, they are fun loving and some of
them, bitchy. They don't rip off anyone unless they are younger then 10 years
old.
The Wanna be site Stage 2
These type of sites are exactly like the original
"wanna be site" with the exception of a couple of things. They
actually do have a lot of stuff but are mostly unorganized. For example, they
have an information section. Under that section you see a long long list of
information. They try to make as much pages as they can. Some of them are
repetitive but the more the better. Why ? If you examine carefully, 99% of these
type of sites have joined top sites that count each visitor and hits. By having
a lot of sections, people want to check what it is and most probably will be
disappointed. By visiting 10 pages, the visitor gave the site 10 more hits on
the top site. These people care about the popularity of their site and
themselves. They crave for more hits and they want to be everyone's number one.
They will most probably copy something from other sites and claim it as their
own. They would copy another sites work and edit it a little bit to make it look
like theirs. These are the type of webmasters that I literally want to destroy.
Close to perfect
These websites are original and have lots to
offer. No copied content and the webmaster/webmistress MIGHT be obsessed about
the popularity and hits but it is not likely. The only cons about these type of
sites is one simple thing. The webmaster. The webmaster is full of himself and
although he may not think it, he ranks himself in another level, a superior
level. These people are the Vegeta's of websites. They don't like much people
and they usually want to ban with people who own popular sites and share their
same point of view. They don't want anything to do with small sites and they
enjoy the spotlight. They are hard working people but their personality could
prove a problem.
Close to perfect 2
These websites are a mixture of " Normal
" and " Close to perfect 1 " websites. These websites are almost
perfect but have one problem. Too much people love them. It's quite difficult to
get in contact with them unless you meet these people in real life. They are
packed with e-mails and they try to answer as much as they can. They love DBZ
and their site is truly for the fans enjoyment. It is just hard to communicate
with them but it isn't their fault. Respected, adored but hard to get a hold of.
These are the general type of DBZ sites I've
grown to love and hate. If you don't find yourselves in one of these categories,
please by all means e-mail me right away. It's not okay if you copy someone's
work, edit it and take it as your own without the permission of the author. The
popularity can get into someone's head sometimes and make them an evil person.
Being popular can change your outlook on certain things and make you seem like a
bad person. I leave you with a quote from Final Fantasy 9.
"Someday I will be queen, but I will always
be myself "
