Dragonball
Z Collectible Card Game
Orange, Beat Down or Lay Down?
Weakness and Strengths of the orange style
Ok lets check the back ground of Orange first. In the early saga of orange you
mainly saw physical attacks. These attacks rose your anger and seem to look a
lot like the black or the red style attacks of today. These cards have not been
widely used and are rarely seen. The lack is partly because of the mastery which
forces you into playing an energy deck. Pro or con you decide.
Orange Energy
We all know this is all that orange is, one
big huge fire ball of energy pounding. Orange has some major abilities with its
orange attacks, some ranging from a mere 5 life or to the huge disaster
inflicting 15 life which we all love or hate. Orange energy is orange, there is
no way around that, with the masteries letting all of those attacks do more
life at a less cost or making it that you can't be hit at all. Orange just
isn't made for the physical beat down world.
Orange and its huge anti non-combat
Orange has one of the largest amount of
non-combat destroyers. Let it be an energy attack that nukes them or just a
drill that wastes them, no matter what, orange has some major grudges against
non-combats. Well, that's about it for the pros. Not saying we need more but
orange doesn't offer us much options, either orange energy or no energy deck
its that pure and simple.
The Cons
There are some major orange problems currently
and we see that through our major events, not a single regional contest so far
has been won through orange and there are reasons why.
Orange and its diversity
As I said before orange is just energy beat
down, and with saiyan, black, red, and blue all meaning to pound you out there
orange just can't seem to hold its power stages long enough to finish the job.
When playing an Orange deck you know for sure that they have an energy beatdown,
and the reason it is that way is because of its masteries. The amount of
attacks can't let it happen any other way. Orange has too many energy attacks
to be a physical beat down, and the masteries in no way help physical attacks
thus forcing you, if you play orange, an energy beat down.
Orange and anger control
Orange has almost no anger control at all,
with tournaments being at least 20% anger, orange just can't take it. With
anger winning in just 3 to 5 turns orange just can't deal enough damage to stop
one of these growing monsters.
In conclusion Orange may have the ability to completely destroy dragon ball
decks, but it just doesn't have all the necessary things to win a big tourney.
I suggest staying away from orange unless you feel like letting someone else
win.

IQ's Note:
As stated by David Orange mainly focuses on Energy attacks because it doesn't
have many good physical attacks but it also has some of the best drills that help physical
attack decks. Maybe we'll see a good Orange Physical beatdown deck pop out and
win worlds, there are things that only time will tell @_@
