Dragonball Z Episode 5: Goku's Last Chance of Survival

(original, Japanese episode)

Gohan appears to be extremely mad and wants to fight his uncle. Raditz is taken by complete surprise that this four year old is going to fight and by his power. Gohan’s power level reaches 1307, leaving everyone on the battlefield in complete shock. He then bolts toward Raditz, torpedoing into Raditz sternum. His head was able to break open Raditz’s armor and severely weaken him. But, Gohan’s power leaves just as fast it came since his power is based on his emotions. After the attack, his power level drops down to 1. Goku tells Gohan to run, but Raditz won’t allow it and sends Gohan flying with a backhand, knocking the boy out. He tells Goku that Gohan is more powerful than his father, and he is a threat that must be destroyed. Just as it appears that Gohan has met his doom, Goku sneaks up behind Raditz and puts him in a full nelson. Raditz cannot break free thanks to the blow from Gohan. Goku tells Piccolo to charge up the Makkanko Suppo. Raditz pleads with Goku to let him go and he will leave, but Goku is not buying it this time. Piccolo tells Goku that the blast will kill both Raditz and him, but Goku just tells him to hurry because his ribs are broken and he can’t hang on much longer. After reaching a power level of 1480, Piccolo fires a direct hit on Raditz, but the beam cuts through Goku as well. Both men are knocked back by the blow and have gaping holes in their chests. The dying Raditz can’t believe Goku gave up his own life, but Piccolo makes the mistake of telling Raditz that Goku will be resurrected by the dragonballs. Raditz says the scouter on his head is also a transmitter, and he just sent that information to the other two Saiya-Jins. He says they are much stronger than him and will arrive in one year for the dragonballs. Piccolo refuses to hear anymore, and out of anger, finishes off Raditz. Bulma, Roshi, and Krillin then arrive via Bulma’s plane and are shocked that only Piccolo stands. The scene then shifts to a far off planet where we are introduced to the other two surviving Saiya-Jins, Nappa and Vegeta. They are extremely disappointed in Raditz. Nappa wants to know if they should go to Earth. Vegeta, at first, doesn’t want to, but he changes his mind due to the thought of becoming immortal. They decide to go to Earth to summon the dragon for immortality. The scene shifts back to Goku, as his friends have landed and are trying to help him. Goku tells them he isn’t going to survive. With a few parting words, Goku dies. Krillin screams for Goku, upset by the death of his best friend. Goku’s body then disappears. Piccolo tells them Kami, the guardian of Earth, has taken Goku away for special training. What kind of training is in store for Goku?
