Dragonball Z Episode 7: Gohan Facing the Toughest Training of All

Gohan’s training has begun under the guidance of Piccolo. The first phase if for Gohan to survive in the wilderness on his own for six months. After a strong protest by Gohan, Piccolo flies away. Kami is then shown looking over Piccolo’s actions. He thinks Piccolo’s evil has left him, since the evil Piccolo would never have trained Goku’s son. He tells Mr. Popo that Piccolo now has a conscience, and knows he will die in a year. If Piccolo dies, so does Kami (and vice versa). Piccolo may be trying to leave a little of heritage in Gohan. Gohan’s troubles begin when his shirt gets caught in the wind and ends up on a cliff. After many attempts, he climbs it and retrieves his shirt. Meanwhile, Goku is continuing his journey on Snake Way. He is quite impressed with the power of his send. He then tries to hasten his trip by jumping over parts of Snake Way, but it backfires as he almost falls off the path and into hell. Krillin arrives at Chi-Chi’s in an attempt to tell her about her husband’s death and Gohan’s training. He is trying to figure out a way to tell her when she opens the front door and surprises him. Krillin only confuses Chi-Chi about Goku’s whereabouts when Ox King steps out and invites Krillin inside. He never brings himself up to deliver the bad news, but is forced to stay for dinner by Ox. In the mean time, Gohan is again endangered, as a dinosaur chases him, and just as it seems like he will be eaten, he again powers up and jumps to the top of a mountain. This petrifies him and again starts crying. In a quick but funny scene, Chi-Chi is shown eating like Goku at dinner. Another scene shifts to the netherworld at a bar of some sort (never before scene in America). The guide for Goku delivers his message to Baba to not revive Goku for a year. She says she will send the message to Roshi. Back on the mountaintop, Gohan is complaining of coldness and hunger. After a whip of the wind, two apples fall next to him. He can’t figure out where they came from (no trees), but eats them with more complaining about wanting his mother’s food. Exhausted and hungry, he falls asleep. As it turns out, Piccolo gave Gohan the apples, but he never reveals himself. He claims he will not help Gohan again in the future. What else will Gohan encounter in his training?
