Escape
This is another Toriyama masterpiece, a short
story which was published in a monthly jump magazine.
It starts off with a terrified young girl
sprinting away from something desperately, panting and wheezing, but still not giving up.
She jumps down a small hill, and continues to run on forward, fleeing from this unseen
enemy.
She doesn't even stop for a quick breath,
although she suddenly has to halt to a stop when a huge dragon walks in front of her. She
barely manages to avoid it, and decides that now she's stopped it'd be best to take a rest
and regain some energy.
She sits down with her back against a small
ledge, almost completely breathless, contemplating over the situation, and realizing that
she is the only one who remains. The others have probably all been found by the enemy. She
hears voices and is terrified by the prospect of them finding her, before she accidentally
gives a small can a slightly nudge with her foot, alerting her evil hunters to her
location. She can't believe that they have already reached her, and looks on in horror as
they rapidly approach her now revealed hiding place.
A shadow comes into view with a sinister
voice figuring out her exact position. She gasps in overwhelming fear as she comes to the
realization that it is now all over. A head pops round the ledge in the form of some sort
of goofy looking creature smiling idiotically. He announces that he's caught her, annoying
the girl greatly.
The two join their comrades, and begin to
discuss who's next in the game of tig, giving the story a bizarre twist at the end. |
