Dragonball Z: The Legend of the Super Saiyan

Dragon Ball Z® -Legend of the Super Saiyan is the first RPG of the DBZ series, that sets you in control of Goku and his powerful allies in an attempt to save the world from the terrifying threat, of the evil Saiyan's. Adventures and quest await Goku, after his son Gohan is captured by his evil and powerful brother Raditz, and it is a race against time for Goku to find some way to defeat, these seemingly indestructible creatures. The game itself is of quality design, and implements some of the best combat systems in any DBZ game to date. The adventure system is also very well designed and it is easy to see how critics, at the time of its release, were very impressed by the performance and style, that this game has defiantly got.

The graphics for this game are a major let down, but that is easy to accept on account of the game being on the SNEZ console. This should not put you off, because although the "roaming" graphics are of poor quality, the fight sequences from the "encounter" mode are fantastic, with special mini movies for those famous attacks, such as the Kamehameha, and Daemon ray! Presentation wise, this game incorporates some cool aspects, that other games of its era simply didn't have. Controls are a little bit difficult to get the hang off, and it will take you a good few try's to get you attack method just right. Sound wise, this game is again on par with the sound quality of other games of the time, so nothing special there. Gameplay for this game is what separates it from all those other DBZ titles out there. Cool and interesting puzzles, a good combat and exploring mode, equipped with special movie like cut sequences are what really make this game, possibly the best title to date.

In conclusion, any RPG ran could get a kick out of this game, and it is a must for any DBZ game fanatic. On the down side, graphically it is quite poor and the adventure itself is pretty short.

Overall game rating 4/5 stars- Good
