------------ DBZ CCG World Championship Circuit
Score Entertainment, makers of the phenomenally popular Dragon Ball Z® Collectible Card Game, continues to blaze the trail in the gaming world with their World Championship Tournament Circuit (WCC).
“We recently hosted three of our largest Premier Events,” Jonathan Quesenberry, Score Entertainment’s Director of Marketing said. “All three of these events broke the previous attendance record of 121, which was set earlier this year. In just one weekend, the Dragon Ball Z® CCG had 440 players attending the events. All together, there have been more than 1125 top level competitors that have participated in this program over the past 5 months. That is definitely a rarity in our marketplace for an event of this caliber.”
After last year’s successful tournament circuit, the average number of players per event was a respectable 64 per upper level event. This year that average has nearly doubled as it now sits at 113. By way of comparison, there was only one of these events to break 100 players last year, yet this year there have been seven events to do so and the season still has two events left to go.
Without a doubt, the pinnacle of the WCC in both excitement and attendance is The World Championship Tournament, held at Gen Con each year. In 2001, the Worlds event had 126 players. The 2002 event saw a turnout of 302. Considering the growth rate of the program as whole, it is possible that this year’s Worlds could go well above 450 players!
“We are thrilled at the success of this program.” Quesenberry said. “Not only does it continue to support our products year in and year out, but it has also created something that the community has been excited to embrace. I think their support is self evident.”

ICv2 has learned that Rave Master, the anime series based on the manga by Hiro Mashima, will appear on the Cartoon Network's Toonami block in 2004. Rave Master is Kodansha's #1 shonen (boys') manga series. Created by Hiro Mashima in 1998 when he was just 21 years old, Rave Master has already spawned 18 volumes of manga, 3 guide books, 2 console video games, and a hit anime series that Tokyopop will be bringing to the U.S. Tokyopop's Rave Master manga volumes have been frequent visitors to the BookScan Top 50 survey of bookstore graphic novel sales in spite of the fact that there has been no anime series available to date to help bolster sales. In addition to fostering excellent bookstore sales Tokyopop has managed to get the title into Target, a rarity for manga titles.

Fret Not !
05/30/2003 -- 9:30 AM EDT -- SonicMAD
Heya all, well as mentioned the site has frozen (Which is a shame) but fret not DBZ lovers. As far as i know, it appears that only me and SSJ3Goten are the only ones posting, so therefore i would be gratefull if you could perhaps just keep on waiting until we can pull the site back together into an...erm...Un-frozen state! Unfortunatly for us as well, there appears to be a bit of a "lull" within the community, and although plenty of news is flowing in, Movies/Games/Etc... but nothing is actually being released, so...as my role as a games reviewist, im just going to review all the other games out there at the moment (All Anime based hopefully) until perhaps the next DBZ game is released. Now that Sen is gone now, i think that parhaps there will be a position open for all those with web mastering skills, as well as the movie reviews, listings for programs, news possibly, etc...
Contact either me, or possible Sen for either more info, applications and stuff...
FUNimation to re-release DBZ epsiodes 1-53
05/28/2003 -- 7:12 AM EDT -- SSJ3Goten
FUNimation has confirmed that they intend to re-dub, re-master and release the first 53 TV episodes of Dragonball Z uncut on DVD. In their re-mastered releases they will include aproximately 12 episodes worth of material that Pioneer had to remvoe from the show to satisfy the broadcast standards of the time. As for the 3 movies, it seems likely that they will re-do them, but there are no plans right now.
Pioneer Entertainment had originally released material first 53 episodes of Dragonball Z on DVD back on 17 DVDs, along with the first 3 DBZ movies on 3 more DVDs. However on August 31st, Pioneer's license to the material (sub-licensed from FUNimation) will expire. They have officially informed retailers that they will not take orders or returns for the DVDs after August 31st.
