Review:  IL2 is part of a rare breed, a game that lives up to the hype! From your first quick dogfight to a huge air, sea and land battle, IL2 just screams quality and attention to detail. I can’t emphasize enough just how good this one is.

You want planes that genuinely handle and perform differently? You got it

You want battles that rage on about you, including on the ground? Got it again

You want some of the most genuinely exciting and sometimes scary dogfights I’ve ever seen in a simulator? Got it again

You want unrivalled damage modeling, with seemingly endless ways to send a pilot speedily towards the ground? Yep, there it is again

You want a real a challenge where bullets actually have to hit your opponents' plane rather than a big box around him? This is getting predictable

However much I play IL2 I'm always finding great new stuff about it. On top of that this is the most playable out of the box game I've bought all year, probably last year and the one before that too.

As I type this there is an add on out today that'll allow yet another flyable plane, and this one has hardly been out yet. This makes me think IL2 will enjoy excellent support which is yet more good news.

If I could find one criticism (can't give it a 10 now after all), it'd be that the career mode is pretty weak, with only canned missions that you have to complete to move on. However, there already is a fan made dynamic campaign generator available so that's no big deal. The game is so good that scripted missions hardly bother me as much as I thought they would anyhow.

In conclusion, IL2 really did remind me why I like simulators... this fun with a computer usually involves $9.95 per month. Not bad for a game I think....you decide.
