Goku now has Raditz held captive, while Piccolo charges up a Special Beam Cannon. The heroic Gohan collapsed after his life-saving head-on attack on Raditz. Goku cannot hold on to Raditz long enough; he cannot withstand Raditz's struggle to get out of his grasp. But Goku holds on, and finally Piccolo's Special beam Cannon is intact and ready for fire. Piccolo suddenly realizes that the blast will take out Raditz, but Goku will go along with it. Since this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance, Piccolo reminded himself he had to do it, even if Goku was going to die. He asked Goku about it, and Goku reluctantly agreed, since it was Earth's only hope. Suddenly Piccolo had an idea. Since Master roche was in posession of the dragonballs, they could revive Goku after his death! Piccolo smirked at raditz and told him that they are going to revive Goku anyway after he dies. Unexpectedly, Raditz laughed. he had his scouter on record to his comrades, vegeta and Nappa all the time. So Piccolo's message was instantly transmitted to Vegeta and Nappa, two evil saiyans, which made them know about the dragonballs. Raditz told them that these two saiyans were to reach earth in precisely a year. Piccolo got frustrated, and sent the blast, running through Raditz and Goku. The two saiyan brothers hit the deck at the same time, lifeless. Now that Raditz was out of the way, they rejoiced. But they still had to dispose of Vegeta and Nappa, and to add to the problems, Goku, the strongest fighter on Earth was gone..

Goku was transported on to SnakeWay, a desrted, never-ending passage to nothingness. This passage led you to different dimensions. The passage was above cloud cover, and if you fell down, who knows what will happen to you? Goku finds out that at the end of this passage, which is hard to believe there is an end, there is a small dimension owned by the greatest Martial Arts Fighter, King kai. Goku takes an expedition towards the planet, and the scene switches off back to Master Roshi's. After witnessing Gohan's shock-attack on raditz, Piccolo discovers that Gohan is actually a great warrior, and could prove useful in the battle against the saiyans in a year. So Piccolo takes Gohan to an arid terrain, and trains with him, trying to access levels achieved by no one, to try and levelize their powers with the saiyans approaching Earth. Meanwhile Vegeta and Nappa arrive at a Planet called Arlia. vegeta and Nappa later on dispose of the planet, finding it useless. They persist with their journey towards Earth, to obtain Earth's Dragonballs.

Piccolo abandons Gohan for a short while, so he can buy some time to meditate and try to exceed the powers of the saiyans, it's not possible, but still Piccolo believes he can. In the suspense from Piccolo, Goha occupies himself with playing with dinosaurs. He befriends a dinosaur, and when another dinosaur attacks it, he heals it. Meanwhile Krillin goes out to fetch his friend Yamcha. Yamcha is playing a professional baseball match, when suddenly everyone gets ina fight and Krillin just drags Yamcha out of the stadium and informs him about what happened about Raditz etc. Krillin implies that they need to do some training, and Bulma suggests they go to Kami's Lookout to do some training there. Yamcha and Krillin agree, and go to Kami's Lookout using Bulma's advanced aircraft. When they arrive there, they encounter two mysterious warriors by the name of Tien and Chaoutzu. These two also seek training from kami, so yamcha and Krillin decide to train with Tien and Chaoutzu.

Gohan is incapable of training alone, so Piccolo returns to train him a bit more, until he is strong enough to manage things himself. But during the training, where Piccolo is acting a bit harsh and leniant towards him, at night, the full-moon appears. Some of you might know that a saiyan evolves into a Were-Monkey, a sort of giant primate when the full-moon's light enters their eyes. Well, a half-saiyan half-human has that capability too. Piccolo sooner finds out the secret of a saiyan when they look into the moonlight. Gohan transforms into an Oozaru, and begins to trash everything, giving Piccolo a bit of a scare, nearly squashing him. But Piccolo restrains Gohan's uncontrollable attack by blowing up the moon itself. From lack of moonlight, Gohan's form cannot operate so he degrades back to his normal form. Meanwhile Tien, Yamcha, Krillin and the clown Chaoutzu continue their training, as Goku nears King Kai's dimension by sprinting across SnakeWay in style.

Again, Piccolo abandonds Gohan, after ripping his tail off Gohan's body, as a saiyan requires a tail to morph into an oozaru. In the desert lands, Gohan awakes from consciousness, and finds a loyal, lonesome friend, a robot. He plays with the robot and finds it very fascinating, but suddenly it is killed(I can't remember, lol). Gohan cries in grief, as a friend of his passes away. Gohan begins to move across the land, trying not to think about the robot as he perspires in the hot condition, while Piccolo meditates.
