| Duke
Nukem (MP) // Time to kick some ass!
|
The baddest, most explosive character is back. Duke
Nukem returns to the PC with his newest game, Manhattan
Project. This game, set in New York, Duke must go around the
city blowing up bad guys and saving the girls. Duke Nukem is
back is better than ever.

After all the great shooters that
have come out, Duke Nukem decided to go back to the classic
version of the originals. This is not a first person shooter,
but a 2d shooting game where you go side to side. But
nevertheless, this 2d shooter has great controls. You have a
standard left-right-up-down movements with a jump, kick, shoot
and throw button. That's all you need. Surprisingly, this game
has solid controls. It kind of feels like the old contra games
but better of course. If you have a controller for your PC
then it would be perfect.
This game is explosively fun. Hmmm, who wouldn't like blowing
up bad guys with crazy weapons. You start with a pistol but
you gradually get better ones. Even though it's 2d, a lot of
things are still interactive. You can climb up ladders, hang
on the edges of buildings, blow up boxes and walls and a lot
of others things. But after a while the game gets too
repetitive... repetitive... repetitive. Your basic mission, go
to the end of the level but make sure you find the girl and
the key cards to get through. It's the same concept over and
over.
The graphics are actually not bad. The levels looks good and
Duke Nukem has never looked better in 2d. But you can notice a
bit of pixelation on the enemies but who cares, you'll blow
them up so fast that you won't even notice. Once the camera
zooms in that when you get to see a bit of polygons but it's
no big deal.
I liked the sound effects of Duke Nukem. He does a bit of play
by play commentary. For example, when he saves a girl, he
would say something like, "You have to be 18 or older to
ride", or, "Hey baby, I know a place where you put
quarters in to beds...". He also sometimes swears at
enemies when he gets hit too much. It gets a little repetitive
but its still funny when he calls an enemy a son of a b*tch.
The music gets you pumped up but its the same thing over and
over.
