| Escaflowne
// The fight for the mystic moon.
|
A girl named Hitomi was magically moved from
Earth to a world filled with fantasy, dragons and medieval
war. This world is very different from Earth filled
with cat girls, monsters and dragons. She meets our young hero
named Van Fanel who controls a big Guymelef (Large Mechanized
Suit) called Escaflowne. Along with a valiant knight named
Allen Shezar, the heroes uses these large suits or guymelefs
to wage war and fight the evil empire called Zaibak. Hitomi
holds the secret that can send her home but she must find out
what while trying to stay alive.

From the creators of Gundam Wing, a similar but yet a
totally different new anime series emerged. The Visions of
Escaflowne was a big hit in Japan but not so good here in
North America, even though it could possibly be one of the
best animes ever created. Bandai and Sunrise, you just know
that some big mechanized robot would be involved and with that
a good story with it. That's what you get with Escaflowne but
with a very different style. You get large mech suits with
medieval weapons such as swords and the pilot actually
controls it with his own body actions. This is a great series
to watch but it is also very short.
Wow amazing fight scenes but they only show very little of it.
Basically they focused on the story but the character models,
landscapes, and every thing else is visually impressive.
This is an anime series that will have you singing the theme
song in the shower. It's very catchy, exciting, fast paced
which is perfect for the show. Voice dubbing is top notch and
every little sound effects such as clanging of swords is
perfect.
The characters are very memorable because of their own unique
looks and personalities. A young prince, a valiant knight, a
silly cat girl and a mysterious girl. Now that's what I call a
good cast of characters with different kinds of attributes.
