The Tenchi Tournament is held. Gohan has a younger brother Goten, and Baby Trunks, son of Vegeta and Buruma was born too. It is seven years past the cell saga. It turns out there are slaves wanting to release Majin Buu from his shell. Kaioshin, Supreme Kai says a wizard named Babidi has dispatched guards to get some energy for the releasing of Majin Buu, a demonic warrior created by Bibidi, Babidi's father. Two of Babidi's guards stole energy from Gohan at the tournament and returned to Babidi's lair. Kaioshin, his partner Kibito and the Z gang followed. meanwhile Goku arrived, being granted a day on Earth only by the witch Baba. AT Babidi's lair Kibito is killed and all these deaths sets Buruma across Earth searching for the dragonballs. Kaioshin and the Z gang: Goku, Gohan and Vegeta enter Babidi's lair. They face off Babidi's strongest henchman Dabura, and Dabura suddenly has an idea. He tells Babidi that Vegeta has evil in his heart. If so, Babidi could manipulate Vegeta's mind and force him to go pure evil. Babidi does this. Majin-Vegeta fights Goku and the energy inflicted is enough to release Majin-Buu. Babidi's control on Majin-Vegeta wears off suddenly, and Vegeta and Goku go off to see whats happening. Goten and Trunks suddenly arrive with Piccolo and Krillin. Gohan and the Supreme Kai are knocked out cold on the ground. Vegeta self-destructs in a attempt to destroy Majin-Buu. But the self-destruction was in vain, Buu survived. Meanwhile Goku planned on teaching Goten and Trunks the art of fusion. But his day was up, unfortunately, and Goku returned to King Kaioh's dimension. Goten, Trunks, Piccolo and Krillin went off to Sky Palace. Goten and Trunks learnt the fusion dance, performed it and turned into Gotenks. While everything happened at SKy Palace, Buu on Earth had killed Babidi for bossing him around and killed Dabura. Buu used fission and halfed. One of the half was Evil and the other Good. The evil Buu absorbed the good one and now Buu was much stronger. Gotenks wasn't strong enough against Buu, but suddenly it went Super Saiyan 3. This was far more powerful than Buu but Buu absorbed Gotenks and Piccolo. Buruma gathered all dragonballs and wished for everyone dead to be brought back. Goku, Vegeta and Kibito were brought back. Goku had gone Super Saiyan 3 while up at King Kaioh's dimension. He blew Buu to bits in this form, but Buu reattached himself and absorbed Gohan! Buu was stronger than SSJ3 Goku now, so Vegeta and Goku fused to become SSJ Vegetto. But Vegetto was absorbed as well and Kid Buu popped out of Buu's back. Everyone absorbed by Buu tore out of his claw, and Goku was able to kill Buu with a Spirit Bomb..
