Garlic Jr. has come back from the Dead Zone, and recrute the help of four warriors, the Spice Boys. They go to Kami's tower where they attack and hold captive Kami and Mr. Popo in a bottle. This gives him the chance to release the Black Water Mist, which turns anyone who comes into contact with it evil.

While this is happening, Gohan and his dragon go to see Master Rochi and friends, including Krillin and his new girlfriend Marron.Marron and Krillin go swimming and the Black Water Mist comes to the island. Gohan and his dragon manage to escape its effect, so do Krillin and Marron, but the rest are turned evil by it. Gohan and his dragon reach the island, and everyone is evil to him.

Piccolo arrives to give help, but is bitten by Yamcha, which causes him to turn into a demon. Gohan arrives on Kami's tower, where he is told about the Makyo star and Garlic Jr. in the Dead Zone. Then Piccolo and Gohan begin to fight, and Gohan is seiously injured, when Krillin comes to help, and he is bitten by Piccolo. Piccolo then steals the bottles containing Kami and Mr. Popo and releases them. He explains that because he is already a demon, the bit did nothing to him, and he had not really bitten Krillin in the first place.

The Makyo star, Garlic Jnr. only hope, enables him to transform as it is near. He does so, growing greatly in size. Knowing that there is only one way to release the Holy Water in time to save the Earth is through the 7 air ducts of the Earth, Kami and Piccolo go on a venture to them. They finally reach the bottom of the palace where the air currents arte contained, but are attacked by a former guardain of Earth's spirit. Kami is hurt in the battle, and this hurts Piccolo, too, as they are linked. But, Mr. Popo releases the Holy Water just in time to save the Earth from the effects of the Black Water Mist.

Garlic Jr. is seriously annoyed his plan has been stopped, so he creates a brand new Dead Zone that he hopes will suck up the whole planet. Gohan relaizes it will suck them up, too, so he creates a shield around hima nd his friends. Meanwhile, the former guardians of Earth relaise that Kami was doing good with the Holy Water, so the release him and then he and Piccolo were at full strenght again. This gave Piccolo enough strenght to distract Garlic Jr., as Gohan destroyed the Makyo star. As it was what Garlic Jr. was using to grow in height, he shrinked to normal size and got sucked up into the Dead Zone.
