» SUBJECT: Interview with Funimation VA Mike McFarland (Master Roshi)
–• Monday , September 6, 2004 @ 3:49 pm
- Anime Tourist has published an Interview with voice director and voice actor Mike McFarland. McFarland is the voice director in charge of the Dragonball and Dragonball Z episodes. Some of the voice acting roles he did include Master Roshi and Yajirobe from DB, DBZ, DBGT. He also voice acted Baby and Super Baby from DBGT.
Here is some more info regarding the re-rub of DBZ (eps. 1 – 53) extracted from McFarland interview:
Q: -- We noticed that some of the earlier Dragon Ball Z series had been dubbed by the Ocean Group and that Funimation has gone back and re-dubbed those episodes. Can you tell us why that was done? A: -- I am not in charge of those decisions, but from what I understand, it is so that there would be kind of consistency to the product or the series as a whole. So that fans who want to buy it, watch it, whatever, don't get into it and then have everything change.
In conclusion the reason Funimation is re-doing episodes 1 to 53 (1-67 in the original Japanese DBZ) is so that fans get a version of DBZ with out any censoring, editing or cut footage.
