-Subject: Fans Release An Online Petition Aimed at FOX Studios to Released An Official Statement on the Live Action Dragonball ; which is rumored to come out in 2007, according to IMDB database. Sign it
   Wednesday , August 4, 2004, 2:54 am -=- By {-Sam-}drop me a line
-With all the confusion about the DBZ: Live Action the fans are 'on the go' again.
During the month of March, 2004, the Dragonball voice actor Kyle Hebert's official website announced that : Fox Studios had dropped its plans to release a live action Dragonball movie. This created an uproar in the DBZ community. Lets fast-forward to June 24, 2004, now we have an official online magazine Variety report that the DBZ movie is not canceled and was still being produced.

But come to think of it, Fox hasn't released an official statement about the movie since 2001. And with all this confusion in the air about the movie;... the fandom has recently created an online petition for the live action flick. Fans want FOX Studios to release an official word on the progress of the live action movie. The movie is rumored to come out in 2007., according to the IMDB database. Here is the link to the online petition. Go sign it now. This so reminds me of 1996-98 when there were a lot of DBZ petitions to stop censoring DBZ on CN etc. Lol

In the past online petitions have hardly had any effect and they are almost never been able to accomplish what they set out to do. Big companies like FOX hardly make up their minds on releasing any sort of offical statement based on a online petition. Usually petitions don't seam to work. But I sure as hell like to see how many people actually sign the damn thing.

On a side note if your were thinking of buying a DBZ or anime DVD this weeks. We suggest you go to Best Buy. The new Dragonball GT DVDs are selling for $16 while the NEW CELL GAMES DVDS are selling for $14. Also, there is a 20% off all anime DVDs. Anyone interested in obtaining DBZ DVDs should really get to Best Buy this week.

Penguin will print and distribute the manga under its own labels.

During the first year of the agreement, DMP is to provide 8 to 10 volumes of manga to Penguin, and 10 to 15 volumes in the second and third years. Titles which are to be published are currently unknown.

DMP previously released four titles (Trigun, Hellsing, The Ring and Berserk) with Dark Horse Comics, before going its own way for 5 more titles (IWGP, Worst, Passion, Only the Ring Finger Knows and Desire), the first of which are due to be released this month.

   Sunday , August 1, 2004, 9:52 pm -=- By {-Sam-}drop me a line
-Some News from the recent Otakon convention on the new anime titles being licensed by well know industries. I know some of you just don't care about this stuff but I'll post it anyways.

ADV: clarified at last weekend's Otakon convention, that it had no new anime license's.

Bandai Entertainment: now owns the domestic distribution rights to the following anime titles: "Avenger" (13 eps), "Fantastic Children" (26 eps) and "PlanetES" (26 eps). No production information was revealed. Also, The new Video on Demand channel that Bandai is putting together with Cartoon Network will initially be limited to Bandai titles only.

CPM Media: has licensed the following two titles "Finder no Hyotek" and "Finder no Cage".

FUNimation: had its news panel today and according to AoD FUNimation has announced the acquisition of the first and second seasons of Grappler Baki TV (Baki the Grappler) which as total (24 eps). I'm hearing conflicting reports on this latest FUNi acquisition. Maybe some can ask the FUNi rep if they could clarified if they own the domestic distribution rights to Baki the Grappler. Also the first 17 DBZ DVDs (1 to 53 eps.) will be re-mastered and re-release uncut again sometime late 2004.

Geneon Entertainment (Pioneer): has grabbed the licensing rights to the following new anime titles:
"Star Ocean EX" (26 eps), [Jan 2005] --- "Human Scramble" (13 eps), [Feb 2005] --- “Tokyo Underground" (26 eps), [Feb 2005] --- "Koi Kaze" (13 eps), [Mar 2005] --- "Ultra Maniac TV" (26 eps), [Apr 2005] --- "Le Portrait de Petit Cosette" (3 eps ova), [fall 2005] --- "Kyo Kara Mao" (39 eps) [mid 2005] --- and "Jubei Chan 2" (13 eps), [2005]

Right Stuf: has licensed the "Gravitation OVAs" (2 eps ova) and “"iano"(10 eps).

-Subject: Dragon Ball Z: Video Games
   Friday , July 30, 2004, 9:55 pm -=- By {-Saiyan-}drop me a line
-A few weeks ago, Atari's Web site revealed that new Dragon Ball titles are in the works. They were two action titles for the Game Boy Advance, Dragon Ball: The Red Ribbon Army Saga and Dragon Ball GT: Transformation.

Now, all of a sudden, they have disappeared. Why? I have no idea, but Atari doesn't have either two of the other DBZ games that are coming soon listed on their site, and those games are confirmed.

Anyway, they had a brief synopsis on the Dragon Ball: The Red Ribbon Army Saga game. It said that it is based on the series of Dragon Ball episodes where Goku must destroy "Evil Generals, Hired Assassins and ultimately the…Muscle Tower" of the Ribbon Red Army. Dragon Ball GT: Transformation didn't have a synopsis at all and neither had releases dates written.

Oh yeah, the two games that are coming soon are Dragon Ball Z: Buu's Fury which is dated to release on Sep 14, 2004 for the Game Boy Advance and Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3, which is to be released sometime before Christmas of this year for the PlayStation 2. This will total the total count of Dragon Ball related games released in the last two years to 12! That's a lot!

-Subject: Cartoon Network Down with The Boondocks
   Friday , July 30, 2004, 9:34 am -=- By {-Sam-}drop me a line
       - Thats right, the Boondocks are coming to Adult Swim? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Cartoon Network is in the process of acquiring a half-hour animated series based on the syndicated comic strip, The Boondocks, created by Aaron McGruder. In 2003 black creator McGruder signed a deal with Fox and Sony Pictures to create an animated version of The Boondocks. Cartoon Network is believed to be eyeing "The Boondocks" for its "Adult Swim" late-night block, because of its racially and politically charged humor

The Boondocks series comics strips featuring black characters with wickedly sharp observations about everything from racists to Gangsta rappers and to the Bush administration. The cartoonist also take swipes at Secretary of State Colin Powell and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice. The daily strip appears in more than 250 newspapers in the United States. The story follows two young boys from the city who go and live with their grandfather in the suburbs. According to the grapevine, The Boondocks is a hit. I though this news on The Boondocks series strip was worth mentioning since the characters designs and style look anime influenced.
