» SUBJECT: Live Action Rumored for 2007?
–• Tuesday , August 10, 2004 @ 12:37 am
- According to CinemaTown, the movie is going to be filmed partially in the US Fox studios, and Fox Studios in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is scheduled for 2007 and apart from some conversations with Bill Goldberg and Ray Park the casting process hasn't started.
"After the rumours circulating the internet about Dragon Ball Z's movie revival, it seems that the 20th Century Fox's live-action movie is now scheduled to 2007. 'We're trying not to rush the production, so we expect the movie to come out in 2007. The cast and director have not yet been chosen but there were official conversations with Bill Goldberg, Tom Welling and Ray Park. Kang revealed that the casting process hasn't started yet but assured both actors and director will be 'known faces with good acting abilities, perfect for the roles and physically similar to the characters.' CT knows that with the ending of Star Wars in 2005, Fox plans to introduce the Dragon Ball franchise with a minimum of 4 movies.
Well, that was most of the info that was "leaked" before fox denied the movie and it's existance was removed from the IMDB database. But no official word from FOX yet. In other news, According to the July issue of Teen People Magazine, ‘Tom Welling’ is hoping to land the role of Goku in the upcoming live-action Dragonball Z movie. Informer: IMDB / IMDB Boards / Movie Insider
My Thoughts: -- But really tho, Fox still hasn't released an official statement about the movie, since 2002. For the past 2 years there have only been online rumors which get spread around so much that even official magazines like Variety and Peoples Teen magazine start believing in these rumors, and make em out to be true. With all this confusion in the air about the movie;... the online fandom has recently created a online petition for the DBZ live action. They want FOX Studios to release an official word on the progress of the live action movie. The movie its self is 'rumored' to come out in 2007 according to the IMDB database. Rumors do become true sometimes, but perhaps we should just wait for FOX to release an official word before getting our hopes up. And I can't see how a petition is going to put an end to this case.

» SUBJECT: DBZ Counterfeit Fake Candy!!
–• Monday , August 9, 2004 @ 6:24 pm
- Cape Town (South Africa) --- Johannesburg attorney Quentin Boshoff stood up for the popular Japanese cartoon Dragonball Z against counterfeiters. Boshoff led the destruction of counterfeit Dragonball Z sweets worth R1,8-million at a muddy dumping site in Cape Town. That's worth about 300,000 U.S. Dollars. The enormous shipment of fake DBZ lollipops was first crushed with a bulldozer then buried on the dumping site near the Vissershok municipal dumpsite outside the city.
The fake DBZ fizz-pops (sweets/candy) were imported from Indonesia by a small Cape Town business. The reason law officials could pick out the fake DBZ sweets was because they looked suspicious and come from Indonesia where they don't normally come from.
Boshoff, who acted on behalf of the owners of Dragonball Z, filed a complaint and the sweets were confiscated. The company that imported the fake goods into South Africa decided to settle with the destruction of all the sweet, instead of facing fines of R5,000 ($800 dollars) or three years' imprisonment per item.
