As usual, the quickie description
comes first: hardened, jaded girl hates boys,
boy falls in love with tough girl, girl rejects
boy, boy keeps trying and gets through to
girl, girl eventually falls for boy... yeah
love! In a way, this follows the main relationship
in Kimagure Orange Road, but at the same time,
we somewhat tinker with Madoka's character
and motivations in our video, as you will
read later on in the video description.
This is one of our favorite
collaborative videos to date. We had a lot
of fun telling this story. We also enjoying
using an anime that is (sadly) underused.
If we can get people interested in KOR (and
maybe even the band Something Corporate),
then we think we've done our job. We hope
you like this video, even if you haven't seen
KOR!

Title: "Walkie
Talkie: DDR Project 3, track 19"
Anime: Kodomo no Omocha
Format: MPEG
Song: "Walkie Talkie" by King Kong
and the D. Jungle Girls
Length: 1:43
Size: 26 MB
Debuted: 9/27/03
Note: This video debuted as part of the
DDR3
Project at AWA 9 |

Here’s the quick description
of this video: the song is called “Walkie
Talkie.” Sana uses a walkie talkie in
“Kodomo no Omocha.” And she dances
a lot. It's a crazy, fun dance video!
The majority of this video is
Sana dancing and singing to the music. The
main challenge was trying to get her to move
TO the music. Needless to say, that required
quite a bit of editing. Since this IS a video
for the DDR Project, I wanted it to be a little
flashy, but mostly dancy and just plain fun.
There is also a little bit of lip syncing,
but not too much. Watch out for the Akito
bird, though! Also be on the look out for
my small tribute to Ian Roberts (AbsoluteDestiny).

This is a story about the harsh
sides of love. When you fall in love, is it
by your own free will, or does it seem like
some kind of outside force is pushing you
into it? That’s more or less the story
of this video (hence the title, “Deceptive
Passions.” It took me FOREVER to think
of a decent title…).
The main plot of this video
is that we see these two girls in a number
of relationships, but are they really in love?
Are the guys they’re involved with just
using them? That’s the main point I
wanted to get across.

Like many of our music video
ideas, this one came to us when we least expected
it. Mike and Meri had not made a trailer since
"The Professional," made less than
a year earlier, and hoped to make a new one
at some point this year. Several ideas floated
between the two for many months, and, as usual,
nothing really clicked.
Then, one lazy Sunday evening,
Mike, Meri and Andrew "Deluxe" (Mike
roommate and star of Meri's "All-Purpose
DBZ Music Video") were enjoying some
nice "Adult Swim" on Cartoon Network.
One of the trio's favorite shows, "Sealab
2021," came on. It was an episode no
one in the group had seen before: an "Entertainment
Tonight"-type episode, hyping up the
summer release of a movie starring the Sealab
crew. At the end of the episode, a trailer
for the fake movie "Tinfins" finally
appeared. We were hooked by the first line:
"would you put your brain in a robot
body?" Not only was this a tribute to
an older "Sealab 2021" episode from
the first season, but Meri and Mike seemingly
read each other's mind the instant the trailer
began: this has to be done to "Evangelion."

"These
Girls Are Crazy - 2003 Remake"
Anime: Cowboy Bebop
Format: MPEG
Song: "Boy Crazy" by New Found
Glory
Length: 3:31
Size: 55 MB
Completed: 3/17/03
|

This is a re-edit of a music
video I made in 2001. This video highlights
the feminine wackiness that is Faye and Ed
from Cowboy Bebop. While most Bebop character-based
videos are serious (and that is by no means
a bad thing), I wanted to take a lighthearted
look at this anime's leading ladies, and how
they drive Spike nuts.
The first half of the video
focuses on Faye (the "beautiful one"),
while the second half switches to Ed (the
"younger one"). Some parts in this
video are a bit of a stretch, such as making
it look like Faye thinks men are all about
her. Then again... that's not much a stretch.
OK, the Ed stuff was a lot harder, but that's
part of the fun, making it look like Ed is
all about using guys. Even so, I think the
result is more or less fun.

Title: "Sweet
Soul Brother"
Anime: Kareshi Kanojo no Jijyo
Format: MPEG
Song: "Sweet Soul Brother" by Hideki
Naganuma
Length: 1:12
Size: 18 MB
Debuted: 3/22/03
Note: This video is part of the Jet
Set Radio AMV Project. Go download the whole
thing! |

This video is the first track in the "Jet
Set Radio" Anime Music Video Project. Similar
to other multi-editor projects, various songs
in this megamix have been spliced together and
transition from one another into different videos
by different editors. This is why the video
has such an abrupt end.
So, with the name of the song in mind (being
Sweet Soul Brother), I had to obviously pick
something to go with the theme of being a babed
out sweet soul brother daddy pimp kinda guy.
My first inclination was to pick an anime with
blantant ladies men in them, but I figured,
meh, that would be too easy. I realized then
that I had the first three DVDs of Kare Kano
(or "His and Her Circumstances") lying
around doing nothing, and I remembered the two
main male characters of Arima and Asaba. Arima
is more of the "perfect guy" who can
do no wrong, and is oh-so-very clean ut and
dreamy. The second male, Asaba, is much more
of the self-absorbed, yes-I-know-I'm-sexy type
of guy. The two made for a nice clash in this
video. The only thing resembling a story in
this video is Yukino Miyazawa swooning over
Arima, and Asaba making an ass out of himself.

Title: "Redemption"
Anime: Rurouni Kenshin
Format: MPEG
Song: "Angel" Main Title by Darling
Violetta
Length: 1:00
Size: 15 MB
Debuted: 2/14/03
Note: This video was mine and VegettoEX's
Katsucon submission. |

Fans of "Rurouni Kenshin" will know
how tortured of a soul Kenshin is. Back in his
days as the "Hitokiri Battousai,"
he meticulously and effeciently murdered for
his government, not thinking about the consequences
for those he killed. When he killed the wrong
person (Tomoe), he finally began to clearly
see exactly what it is he was doing and causing
in the world around him. With the coming of
the Meiji Restoration, Kenshin gave up his ways,
and completely abandoned his role as the "Hitokiri
Battousai." Feeling such an incredible
deal of remorse for those he killed in the past,
Kenshin began to walk down the path of redemption;
by saving others, he would atone for the deaths
he had caused in his past.

Title: "Has
Anyone Seen My Underwear?"
Anime: Chobits
Format: MPEG
Song: "Has Anyone Seen My Underwear"
by The Youth Ahead
Length: 0:57
Size: 14 MB
Completed: 1/10/02 |

Last year, I started watching
the anime and reading the manga of "Chobits."
I found it a light and cute and enjoyable show,
and I definitely wanted to work with the anime
somehow. One of the most memorable and amusing
aspects of the series is Chii and the "pantsu"
episode (or for that matter, all of the moderate
fan service in general). I figured "hey,
that could be a fun video, making fun of all
the underwear jokes and fan service in Chobits.
But that would only 30 seconds funny."
30 seconds funny? Hey, I've got a MiniVid idea
on my hands!
Story is... Chii's a dumb blonde
robot with an apparent inability and/or desire
to find and/or wear underwear. Simple, yes,
but that's why this is a short video. That idea
can only take me so far, ya know? The video
starts off with Hideki finding the robot (known
as a "Persocom" in the anime) in the
trash, and once he brings this scantily clad
lass home, he learns that she isn't wearing
any panties! After this, Chii goes on her trek
around town to find underwear. By the time she
has underwear, she doesn't know what to do with
them, and well... you'll have to watch the video
to find out what happens in the end. :P

"Alone

Anime: Trigun

Length: 3:24
Size: 52 MB
Debuted: 9/28/02
Awards:
- Best Character Profile
at AWA 8
- Best Drama/Sentimental at AnimeNext 2002
Note: This video was made by both
Meri and VegettoEX |

We didn't want to make a "Trigun"
video with all the Gung-Ho guns, with lots
of action, or with lots of comedy. There's
more to "Trigun" than that; there's
a very deep side to the character of Vash,
something that we really wanted to bring out.
The natural flow of the video shows Vash waking
up, sitting around, and feeling sorry for
himself. It seems like he has no friends,
no-one to socialize with, and no-one wants
to accept him. Vash finds himself thinking
back to the "old times" up on the
ship, with Rem and Knives; he's now the child
he speaks of. He seems to have friends and
is enjoying himself and his life... until
the tragic day. Knives begins a rage of destruction,
murdering his friends, and leaving him with
no-one. The two grow up together, but Vash
remains with no-one to turn to, no friends,
no human compassion to be found. Vash is back
to present day, still sulking to himself,
questioning why his life has become what it
is, constantly thinking back to the times
of the tragedy. Rem still hasn't left his
memory completely, but she fades in and out
of it, almost as if to tell him that he needs
to fill the void in his life with SOMETHING,
to find SOMEONE to connect with...

The main joke is... yes... Shishio.
He's burned. He makes fire. SMOKE. Har har
EL OH EL. Once you get past the cheesy concept,
there's actually somewhat of a dramatic story
build-up going on, too! The basic idea is
more or less what you see in the TV series:
Kenshin's enjoying life with his friends,
but is called upon to battle against the forces
of evil, must bid a temporary farewell and
get going with the fight. The early parts
of the video have Kenshin's initial meeting
with Shishio (we threw him in earlier than
what you see in the show to kinda make our
own story), then we've got Kenshin having
fun (IE - getting drunk) with his friends
(and occasionally he dances on top of a ball
with an umbrella). We get a drumroll of Kenshin
saying good-bye to his friends, Shishio gathering
his forces, and FLASH... the battle begins.
Kenshin has some friends jump in along the
way, but in the end, he must take care of
things himself; he's the strongest one...

This video was created in the
Spring of 2002 as my primary Shoujocon and
Otakon music video contest submission. If
you would like the quick 'n easy one sentence
synopsis of this video, then all you need
to know is that basically, this video tells
a story of a young man coming to grips with
a past life, and goes a little crazy in the
process. Technically speaking, this video
is very traditional and simple. This video
is *highly* edit-intensive, but this was mostly
for me to learn and practice making my timing
a little more tight, and to keep the video
visually interesting. This video won 3rd place
at Shoujocon '02, and will appear at Otakon.

Title: "The

Anime: Cowboy Bebop

Size: 34.5 MB
Completed: 5/22/02

Created on the first weekend of our summer
2002 vacation, this Cowboy Bebop movie trailer
was a joint creation made by Meri and Mike "VegettoEX"
LaBrie. This is an action/comedy/drama (if that
makes any sense) trailer, that is by far our
best video work together yet. The basic premise:
Leon (played by Spike) is a hitman who takes
a young girl under his wing so that she can
avenge her family's death. That's more or less
it! We hope you like this thing, cuz we had
tons of fun editing it. To read the full, long
description of this video (and I really hope
you do, cuz it's a fun read, hehe), please click

Title: "Liberation

Anime: Utena movie: Adolescence Mokushiroku

Length: 3:53
Size: 60 MB
Completed: 3/6/02
Awards:
- Best Drama / Romance
Megacon 2002 |

This is by far, my most ambitious video to
date. It's also my new favorite, next to "Again"
and "Traces of Insanity." Here's the
short summary of this video: It focuses on Utena's
life, and how she has to deal with overcoming
her past, and must venture off into her future,
with the help of the mysterious girl, Anthy.
Not only is this video the most intense edit-heavy
video I've made so far, but it's also rather
weird. I really hope you like it! I worked very
hard on this (spent about 3 months on it), and
I'm very proud of this it. This video appeared
at Katsucon 8, and won "Best Drama/Romance"
at the Megacon music video contest. To read

Title: "When

Format: MPEG
Song: "When It's Only Me," by Jem
and the Holograms
Length: 1:44
Size: 26 MB
Completed: 11/13/01 |

I used the Kimagure Orange Road movie for this
music video, and a song from an 80s cartoon
show, Jem. Odd combination, eh? If you haven't
seen KOR before, I really, really recommend
it. It will be available on DVD in February,
too! Anywho, the video is all about a girl named
Hikaru who loves to dance and is trying out
for a musical audition. Her best friend Madoka
is also in the video, shown playing the piano,
as she gives mental support for her friend.

Title: "Wind
Outrunning Destiny: Haruka Tenoh"
Anime: Sailor Moon S
Format: MPEG
Song: "The Wind," by Bassic
Length: 2:32
Size: 31 MB
Completed: 10/11/01 |

This video is a look into the character of
Haruka Tenoh (known as "Amara" in
the dub, or, Sailor Uranus), and how she is
deeply affected by the destiny that awaits her,
and the tough decisions she must face in life.
This is a neat lil' character tribute, and I
hope you enjoy it. I'm kinda surprised with
the end result of this video, in that I didn't
initially expect to go into detail over the
complexities of the character. I just wanted
it to be something fun to work on, at first,
but it evolved into something in which, I hope,
has a unique story. Oh well, I'll shut up now.
If you enjoy Sailor Moon, then I hope you like
this thing. To read the full description for

Since this is a remake of a video found on

to say about it. This is based on the Sailor

Title: "Chick

Anime: Boys Be
Format: MPEG
Song: "Chick Magnet," by MXPX
Length: 2:41

Completed: 9/15/01 |

Ever heard of the anime "Boys Be"?
Didn't think so. -_- Well, it's a very fun,
cute, and hormonal anime, that ended just last
year in Japan. Here's the basic story of the
video: it revolves around three horny high school
boys, who spend their time checking out, hitting
on, and trying to impress girls. They fail.
LOTS of times. Hilarity ensues. After being
rejected on numberous occasions, and making
general asses out of themselves, the guys finally
find romance in the end!!! Awww, how cute. To

Anime: Cowboy Bebop

Length: 3:30
Size: MPEG- 44 MB
Completed: 8/22/01

Since the only Cowboy Bebop music videos I've ever seen
have been serious, I knew I wanted to make a
fun one! It's a story narrated by Spike, all
about the crazy women in his life. If you're
familiar with the series, who know who they
are. If you haven't seen Bebop, check this out
anyway. Originally, I wanted this vid to be
just about my fave gal in the series, Ed. But,
it turned into something more than that. Anyway,
I really love how this one turned out. To read

Title: "Again"
Anime: Fushigi Yuugi
Format: MPEG
Song: "Again," by Lenny Kravitz
Length: 3:43
Size: 46 MB
Completed: 5/21/01
Awards:
- Second Place at Shoujocon
2001 |

Here is my final version of "Again".
It won second place at Shoujocon, and will be
shown at Otakon 2001. This video is all
about the love triangle between Miaka, Tamahome,
and Hotohori from "Fushigi Yuugi."
In the end, she ends up with one guy...and it
sucks to be the rejected one! This is
probably my favorite music video that I've made.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! What's
been modified: the entire instumental portion
is now an action sequence, and what used to
be in the instrumental part is now at the end.
There are also some other minor modifications. |

Title: "Come
With Me (Version 2.0)"
Anime: various
Format: RealVideo
Song: "Come With Me," by Puff Daddy
Length: 5:02
Size: 13 MB
Completed: 3/5/01 |
This is a remake of a video
I made during over winter break in 1998. The
first version was made using 2 VCRs, but for
this version, I re-made it using the computer.
The concept of this video is nutty violence!
One would think I was a very angry little girl
considering the amount of violence in this video.
Basically, I wanted to make a really action-packed
video that I myself would enjoy watching, and
would feel good enough to show my friends. If
I remember correctly, I think I even had a few
hints of timing in this one, and my first few
instances of *actual* dramatic moments, in terms
of lyric-matching.
This video contains scenes from Dragonball
Z, Ranma 1/2, Fushigi Yuugi, Sailor Moon, Slayers,
Magic Knight Rayearth, and Tenchi Muyo. |

Title: "Carry On Dancing"
Anime: Sailor Moon R movie
Format: RealVideo
Song: "Carry On Dancing," by Savage
Garden
Length: 3:46
Size: 12.2 MB
Completed: Early '01 |

This is a somewhat serious Sailor Moon video
based on the lovely Sailor Moon R movie. My
idea was to try to tell the story of the movie
in under 4 minutes, hehe. The quality
is astounding, even in the low-quality version.
It's probably due to the fact that I used DVD
clips. ^_^ I loved this video. It
just flows very well, and I'm pleased with the
final result! Thanks, VegettoEX,
for letting me use your DVD. |

Title: "Faded"
Anime: Sailor Moon Stars
Format: MPEG
Song: "Faded," by Soul Decision
Length: 1:15
Size: 19 MB
Completed: 1/8/01 |

This was my very first Sailor Moon music video.
:) I always disliked Mamoru. Thought he was
a stupid pansy. So when Seiya came along in
Sailor Stars and swept Usagi off her feet, I
just couldn't get enough of it! I then made
a quickie music video to the awkward relationship
between Usagi and Seiya.
The video basically revolves around Seiya's
attempts to make Usagi his. There's really only
one part in the video that I love: the music
scene in the beginning of the Three Lights playing,
and the trio moving to the music. I thought
that was very spiffy editing/timing on my part.
Ahh, how easily amused I was!
Sadly, Sailor Stars fansubs were used in the
creation of this video. Due to the bad video
quality, and abundance of subtitles to work
around, I didn't have much footage to work with.
Therefore, I had to cut the song down to 1:15.

Title: "Adolescence Apocolypse "
Anime: Utena movie: Adolescence Mokushiroku
Format: RealVideo
Song: "Can I Have This Kiss Forever"
by Enrique Iglesias and whitney Houston
Length: 3:56
Size: 4.4 MB
Completed: 7/25/00 |
Head on the heels of my Utena
TV series is my first music video based on the
Utena Movie: Adolescence Mokushiroku (hence
the title of my video, "Adolscence Apocolypse").
At this time in my life, my obsession with all
things Utena was at its highest. I just couldn't
get enough of this show! So I decided to make
a quickie music video using movie footage to
a sappy popular love song of the day. I think
I seriously whipped this thing up in 2-3 hours,
because this thing is extremely unimpressive.
Like most newbie Utena movie AMVs, this fits
the standard very well. Story's about Utena
and Anthy... use the roses dance scene, use
the big car finale, open with a very "Bachelorette"
feel. Blah! So boring, it's just like all the
other Utena videos! As you can see, I don't
like this one very much, and I don't even remember
making it in the first place... :P |

Title: "Simply
Irresistable- Women of Anime"
Anime: various
Format: RealVideo
Song: "Simple Irresistable," by
Robert Palmer
Length: 4:10
Size: 6.8 MB
Completed: 7/00 |
I made this music video using
the 2-VCR method, which is something I hadn't
done since 1998. This was one of two submissions
for the first ver Shoujocon music video contest
back in 2000. However, they did not accept this
video because "even though it's about girls,
it doesn't use all shoujo anime." Whatever.
Hey, at least I can say due to this video, they
had to change the rules! Muwahaha, so evil.
Anywho, I made this video oh a whim during
my summer vacation of 2000. I had made another
video and sent it to Shoujocon ("The Animal
Song" to Utena), but I didn't feel too
confident about it, so I made this "tribute
to anime girls" in addition to my other
submission. I figured, hey, this is a girls'
convention, why not show girl power? But I guess
this video wasn't girly enough for the con.
:P
As a tribute video, this one doesn't have much
of a point to it. It shows cool shows of various
girls from a few series, looking hot/powerful/etc.
That's more or less.
Had I more time, I think this might have turned
out decently, because I think this is an overall
cute video. However, due to deadlines and bad
source footage, this one is kinda ugly. That,
and I made it using the two-VCR method. |

Whoa, amazing, my first non-DBZ
music video since 1998! Cool! Too bad this one
is ultra-cheesy. :P At this point in my life,
I was *heavily* into Gundam Wing (which amuses
me to no end because now I think that series
is complete garbage). In my original description
for this video, I wrote:
"After being obsessed with the show for
merely 3 weeks, I figured it was time to make
a music vid for it. And this is the PERFECT
song for GW, too! It's so...spacey! This vid
is more or less an excuse for random mecha violence.
=)"
God, I can't believe I was such a fan-girl
newbie even nearly 3 years ago!!! How much a
body changes.... Like the above description
says, this really is a random action video,
with a few bits of silly timing and lip syncing
attempts in it. However, I did have some cute
lyric matching going on, such as:
* "Just strap on a suit and get inside"
/ Quatre looks longingly at his Gundam
* "cuz up in outer space there's no gravity
to fall" / Wu fei floating in anti-gravity
in a ship somewhere
So yeah, that's about it. Another random hunk
of junk made by me as a youngun. :D |

Title: "Nasty Boys: The Men of
Anime"
Anime: various
Format: RealVideo
Song: "Nasty Boys," by Janet Jackson
Length: 4:08
Size: 6.7 MB
Completed: Summer '98 |
This was my second attempt at
making a music video, using the 2-VCR method.
And, this is also my first music video to have
something resembling a story. It's mostly self-indulgent
fun, since the video featured, at the time,
some of my main leading men of anime blowing
junk up and looking hot. I plan on remaking
this video some day, hopefully, since I always
liked it, and is stupid good fun. Oh yeah, it's
also my first try at lip syncing. Scary!
The jokes in the video are all based off the
lyrics in the song. Janet Jackson singing about
nasty men, and the bad things they do. I tried
to fit scenes that would match what she was
singing about. I think I might have done this,
but other times, I just got lazy and added scenes
of random guys instead.
Anywho, this video features my favorite "bad
boys" of anime, like a LOT of Vegeta, some
Ranma 1/2 guys, the men from Fushigi Yuugi,
Sailor Moon villians, and more! |
