"Lost 80's Dragon Ball Dub", what the heck?  Surprising?  Certainly.  I'm willing to bet that most people don't even know that this exists.  Way back in '95 when I first got in to Dragon Ball, my sister's friend had an old copy of an 80's dubbed version of Dragon Ball Movie 3 that she taped off the t.v that she let me borrow.  I copied it for myself, and kind of forgot about it....until now!  I saw it for the first time in years the other day and decided that in some ways, this 80's dub is better than the 90's version!  Why?  Well, for starters, they keep the original background music and violence.  The only main problem is that they changed almost all of the character's names, but it only made it more fun that way. =)  Now, here for your listening pleasure are some (as far as I know) never before Dragon Ball wav files from the 80's Dub version of Movie 3!

Background Information About The 80's Dub

Many people have asked me "where did this dub come from, and what company produced it?".  The answers to this can be found in Animerica Vol. 8, Issue 7.

"It seems that Harmony Gold owned the distribution rights rights to Dragon Ball and Dr. Slump for a number of years in the 1980's, and although no official source will say so, at least five episodes were dubbed by Harmony Gold as pilots for the series.  The first and third movies were also dubbed and edited together to form a single, longer film which aired on serveral small stations around the country.   The pilot episodes were apparently test-marketed on various independent networks.   The response was so lackluster, however, that nothing more ever came of it, and Harmony Gold seems to have forgotten it ever happened.  What was it like?  Most of the names were changed: Goku was named Zero, Bulma was Lena, Oolong was Mao-Mao, Yamcha was Zedaki, etc.  An opening theme that followed the original tune was produced....Despite heavy editing, it was still an amusing, action-packed show."

80's Dragon Ball Movie 3 Dub Theme Song-  The great thing about this song that it's the *same* exact tune as the Japanese version, but the words are obviously in English.   That's more than can be said for the 90's versions, right? =P
