Why Capsuleco?
In the early 2000s, kids built sites, traded tiny buttons, joined each other’s staff and made a whole corner of the internet their own. This collection began with someone who was there. Wulong.org, built by the curator’s brother, is part of that story.
What you’re looking at
Saved public pages and files from the Internet Archive, presented as working local copies. Original tables, text, styles and images are preserved. The museum navigation around them is new.
What has changed
Links and file references point to preserved copies. A surviving graphic may come from another capture within the selected dates. Some Wulong menus have been rebuilt from original link lists. Those repairs are recorded separately from downloaded originals. Missing artwork has not been invented. Preserved AOL ART files are decoded to PNG so modern browsers can display their original pixels. Original ART bytes remain unchanged. Saved WMV fan videos have MP4 playback copies at their original dimensions. These use modern video and audio compression. The original video downloads remain unchanged.
The original languages
These pages remain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. PHP, ASP and CGI originally assembled many of them on a server. We preserve the HTML those servers returned. Most original server source and databases are missing. One Fusion News 3.6.1 PHP source file survives in the Legacy source-file collection. It is preserved for reading and download. The supporting application files are missing, so it is not a working recovered backend. Old forms do not submit, and Flash uses a modern local player where supported.
Dates and gaps
Nothing captured after 2004 is included. Wulong files are restricted to 2002–2004. DBZ/GT Legacy files are restricted to 2003–2004. Earlier captures remain in other collections where they are part of the existing research. Forums are excluded. Recovery is ongoing, and some pages, banners and backgrounds are still missing.
Credits
Original writing and designs belong to their creators. Dragon Ball and its characters belong to their respective rights holders. This is an independent fan preservation project. Source capture links and original ZIP downloads accompany the exhibits. AOL ART conversions use Dmitry Brant’s ImageFormats decoder, distributed under the MIT license.
