- Some News..and Media Update
•Yea, well sorry for not posting in a while. I had to do some capacity fillings and a touch of encoding for the clips I had ready. Well now they are completely ready and I'm just viewing them one by one to see if I missed anything. I talked to fRaNk and I'll probably be sending them in a few hours, or tomorrow..depends on how much time I've got. Anyways, here's some news I picked up..courtesy of ANS
AnimationInsider has mentioned that Sonic X will be premiering in fall of 2003, most probably. There's a better story up here at their forums.
Next, Tomy has announced that they will indeed cooperate with Nintendo to publish their Gamecube and GBA (Gameboy Advance) titles in Japan. The first game is covered for Naruto (fighting game) and is scheduled to release spring of 2003. Click here for some development pictures.
Oh, and also - go show your talent and send some of your work to Toki for his contest. And yeah, this is my last avatar.

- DBZ games' sales reports
•According to NPD, DBZ has done very well in the gaming industry. For last year, Dragonball Z: The Legacy of Goku ranked #13 in overall sales, which is impressive, especially because it wasn't even available for the entire year. Also, Dragonball Z: Budokai ranked #6 in January sales, which is also an achievment considering the game was surpassed mostly by new releases...and it beat out Madden 2003...I never thought I'd see the day lol.
Also, I know many (all) of you are fans of The Matrix and are anxiously awaiting it's sequel in May. Well, according to Game Informer Magazine, if you hit the movies early to see Dreamcatcher, you'll see a short Matrix prequel. It's computer animated, so don't expect Neo lol, but it apparently gives you some more background info about the story. This isn't DBZ-related, but I figured you people would appreciate the news. >.> If someone asks you...this never happened. <.<

- Back From Spring Break... -.-
•Yes, I just finished enjoying a well deserved week off from life, and now I've returned to the living. Anyways, here's some news...
Cartoon Network bought up quite a bit of extra advertising space...namely gaming magazines, such as GamePro. DBZ's final stretch was publicized in almost every known gaming magazine's last issues. I'm sure the money spent was well worth it though, concidering CN has raked in one of its highest revenues ever by selling commercial blocks to some big hitters who want in on the action.
Just a reminder, Ultimate Battle 22 will hit store shelves next Tuesday. Personally, I think this game is trash, but for 20 bucks, it's not a total rip off.

- DBGifs section half way up...
•Just added our Sprite Edits (Hyper Dimension, Legacy of Goku, Work In Progress) and Sprite Editing (Add-ons, Frames, Style Listing, Tutorials) sections to the Animated Gifs page. The next update from me would be the actual animation rips from the games.
Edit by Deano:
Note to KaZaA users, i have been getting DoS attacks whenever i use this program and are downloading, i have scanned my computer and haven't found any trojans, so i am guessing that they can get your ip somehow through KaZaA.
To stop DoS attacks on your computer download Sygate Firewall, even if you allow all ip's, it stops DoS attacks.
This is not confirmed by KaZaA or anyone else, but i have a pretty good idea thats the problem.

Anime news:
Well there has been small rumors that the Bebop Movie will come out in June 24th the rumors hasn't been confirmed yet but i'll keep you people updated.... Recently MTV announced their plans to produce a new animation Spiderman series in "Wizard Magazine". Riding off the popularity of Sony's hit film, Spiderman's newest incarnation is based off the characters from the film, not the comic. The series is a continuing serial saga that takes place right where the film left off. With a more hip attitude and a collection of villains, both old and new, Spiderman really makes an effort to entertain the "MTV generation". The animation is a mix of 3D rendered backgrounds with 2D drawn characters.....And for the last news is that the Online Film Critics Society has released what they call are the top 100 Animated Films of all time. Well here is a short list of what saw of out of a 100 anime, the oldest anime was made in 1926....wow...
4. Toy Story 2 (1999)
12. Lion King, The (1994)
20. Akira (1989)
58. Adventures of Prince Achmed, The (1926)
38. Ghost in the Shell (1996)

If you have any questions, or want to contact me or something..the sn is DratonXL on AIM and you can email me also. Plus, I'd just like to thank fRaNk for giving me an opportunity to work at DBGTN. •Did quite a few server security patch upgrades and finished upgrading other applications we're using on the server so the site is safer from attackers. For those of you running your own server I advise you to upgrade to the latest version and get the latest patches specially ensim (which is now at 3.1.7). Downtimes should stop now. I had it un-organized so this weekend that will change that. I'll start making some Adobe Tutorials and maby add some content.

- Let the Reviews Begin...
•A topic in my last post was based on the practically dead site reviews portion of our community section. Well, after some encouraging feedback, I decided to put some life back into it. I will begin to review anime sites regularly, meaning a couple every week hopefully. I posted one review so far, and should have a couple more up by the end of the week. There is still the opportunity for you fans to submit your own reviews as long as you're registered members. I will offer unbiased reviews, with a very detailed review system so you guys will get the best reviews possible. I've already selected several sites to do first, but I'll also squeeze in those sites on the waiting list. Only God knows how long they've been on there lol. We're still working out a few bugs, but the whole package should be ready soon. If you have a particular interest in the site reviews, I'm just letting you know that any update concerning them will be posted in the community section.

- Random Stuff
•Greetings. I know, I know, I said I would put up a humor section last weekend, and I haven't...well, I'm sorry lol. As many of you can understand, unexpected things can happen that keep your hands tied. Unfortunately, now that I finally have some time, I'm just not in my "groove" and just can't seem to write anything even mildly humorous. But, I have a few small tidbits to toss to you guys.
First, this really dosen't relate to DBZ, but I figured 99% of you guys are fans of Final Fantasy VII. Well, PSM announced that FF VII will soon set a fad by having a sequel. After promising results from FF X-2 trials, developers have stated that other previous FF games will have follow-ups, probably starting with the series' 7th installment. In movie news, Spiderman 2 will begin production in April, and will feature Doctor Octopus (also known as "Doc-Oc") as the main villian...I was somewhat dissapointed in hearing that. I was hoping for Harry Osbourne to follow up in his father's footsteps as the second Green Goblin...oh well, I guess the 3rd movie will make room for that.
Now then, onto the site. I received a few e-mails over the past few days concerning glitches in the humor section. Hopefully those will be fixed soon. Also, I've been debating on doing a major overhaul of our site reviews in the community section. Unfortunately, it has been frozen, and thus forgotten about. Recently I got the urge to do some reviewing, but I figured before I got started, I would check in with you guys. So, if you'd be interested in seeing my reviews, leave some comments here or drop me an e-mail. Based on the results, I'll decide whether or not to go through with it. Once and if I do start reviews, I will provide instructions for getting your own site reviewed, and other details.
Finally, lately I've been receiving a fairly high amount of e-mail and instant messages about DBZ games, for what reason, I don't know. Most of these were about upcoming PS2 games and other games that are to be released soon. So here are my thoughts on these subjects to clear things up so I won't be swamped with more requests to answer people's gaming questions lol.
-Budokai, in my opinion, won't have a sequel, and really shouldn't have one. If it does, by some miracle, it will only include characters that are post-Cell Games. And it will probably be cheaper than Budokai. A new DBZ PS2 game will definitely be released in the furture, but will probably follow a different format or genre than Budokai.
-The continuation of Legacy of Goku will feature mild improvements, but will basically remain sub-par.
-Ultimate Battle 22 is not a good game, so don't buy it. Save your money for DBZ Legends, which will give you an awesome experience.
Ok, hopefully that'll fill some holes in your brains lol.
-Latz

- Info on DBGTN Server
•Today I did some work on the DBGTN server to improve the security I increased the effeciency of the apache server along with a few patches here and there to make things run a bit smoother, I added a Server load script to the bottom of the site to show average server load time for 1,5,15 minute interals along with server uptime. The server should run a bit smoother now, I was running generally .5, .9 faster then before so I consider that good, and if we dont have any more DOS's that will help, if we have any more I'll just use SYN cookies and icmp_deny_all in the ipchains so it wont be hit as bad anyway, thats what I've done so far along with Deano fixing the Sig Vote on the Mini-Board along with adding some more features, peace.

- News, Announcements and Update.. oh, my!
•Here's the news courtesy of SzR:
Funimation has publicly announced their intention to redub seasons 1 and 2 (the Ocean Dub) once Pioneer's rights expired. So eventually, you'll have a never before uncut version available.
A specific date is unknown at this time but you can be sure we (SzR or us) will update you.
CNX in the UK has begun advertising GT and will air it after they finish up DBZ which should be very soon cause they already started airing it. And well CN, in USA, says In September 2004 they will play ALL episodes of Dragon Ball GT in order. They are only skipping the 15 episodes on video and dvd temporarily.
Announcements...
My email address "webmaster@db-zgt.zzn.com" is no more! I lost the new password and there is no way I can retrieve it so anything sent there is lost for good. I do have a new email address which can easily be found with a little thinking ;)
As far as updates go no real info or anything just minor additions. Fixed a few typos in the absorption info page that was posted by Trigunflame. I added the DBGT US Episode Guide and chose a new site of the moment (Daizenshuu EX).
Well... that's it from me, who probably won't be seen for another two weeks, and I'll try and get more of those Episode Summaries/Screen Shots done for next time :/
EDIT: I decided to move my old site dbgifs.com back into DBGT Network so anyday now I'll be adding all the animated gifs, animated sprites and tutorials. You'll notice it redirects to this site at the moment.

- DBZ on the Simpsons?
•Nothing official, I saw a commercial for the Simpsons 300th Episode (which will be shown tonight) and noticed Homer and some skateboarder rapidly fighting in mid-air on skateboards. I thought this oddly ressembled a DBZ-style battle. So I'll check it out later and see if my hunch was correct.
Also, in case you people haven't heard, the northeastern states are getting pounded with snow. I live in Philly, and of course it's getting the worst...about 2 feet of snow. So I have some free time, and should be getting a new addition to the humor section up soon. I'll definitely have off from school and work tomorrow, and probably Tuesday too. SCORE! >.> ahem....
Finally, I'd like to welcome our new staff. I look forward to having other people lessening my work load lol. Thanks guys :)

- Hello all
•Well hello there, my names Dusty - also known as Trigunflame. I have admired this site since its founding, and the continued evolution of its growth. Anyway some of the people that know me, "Know" that I have multiple talents in that of Webmaking, so I will be performing multiple functions like Frank & Deano. Mainly tending to the content of DBGTN including writing Totally Original new content, thats in depth, concise, and gets the point across. I can also do some PHP coding although not to the effect as Deano, but I can make my way and will probably release a few of my own lil' scripts here and there for you to mess around with. Also if you have any questions about PC's, Programming, or Tech stuff I'll be glad to answer them on AIM : Trigunflame & email : Webmaster@sssvegeta.com so feel free to ask some questions if you need some help. So um Im glad to be here :)
Also on another note Deano asked me to mention the newseletter system he's setup based on the "AutoResponder" protocal available to us, when you send a blank email to this address it will send you the weekly news on different things on DBGTN.com, (Note: This is not a subscription, you get a newsletter everytime you send the email to the adress) So basically all you have to do is send a Blank Subject and Content based email to this address : ( newsletter@dbgtn.com ) so enjoy, it should have some good info about whats going on with DBGTN about each week. Peace - TF
[edit] I have just added a Absorbtion Guide to the General Info section or just click here I'll be adding more pictures and maybe even real descriptive summary to each characters type of absorbtion later on, peace.

- Image gallery sorted
•I have just finished sorting out the image gallery because we had quite a few errors coming from there :o. It is now in the same format as the animation cels which i know you just love looking at :D.
Image Gallery
I am also going to try and sort out all the downloads tonight, but it won't be through a script that is easy to get access to and exploit, it will be through a script that i am going to make that only site admins are allowed to access, and those files to see if we are admins are not stored on the site :D. I am also thinking of having a random image on one of the bars in version 8 on the left or right, what do you think?

- Budokai Makes December's Top Three
•I had this news a couple weeks ago, but there was no site to post it on lol.
TechTV's 'Extended Play' reported December's top three best sellers. Suprisingly (to me, anyway) I saw Dragonball Z: Budokai beating out Madden 2003, which was #3. Budokai followed up at #2, and lost to the almighty GTA: Vice City at #1. A very successful year for DBZ.

- Past, Present, Future...
•Where have I been? The answer to that is school. I've had to isolate my self from everything else and focus on school since this quarter I have my "make it or break it" courses which will decide a few things in my life. Personally I would like to transfer away from this University as they, like High School, force you to take courses in which in my opinion we will never have a use for (I think it's a scam to get us to go to school longer and squeeze people as much as possible for our tuition fees). I had the site ready to open two/three days after I brought the server back but just haven't been online as much as I used to. It was just a matter of uploading the index page (thanks Deano for taking care of that). I will continue to be away for two more weeks or so? I am not really sure just waiting for these classes to give me a break. On the bright side (well, at least for me), while I’m at school and have an hour or two free I’m usually playing my PlayStation 2 online in SOCOM so if you guys have that game I’ll take you on! (I'm usually in Australia Briefing Room, my username is Supa_fRaNk). I've been taught a lot of JAVA at school so I'll see if I can make use of that and implement something fun for the site. I'll try to do an update or news post or something anytime soon, one thing I don't want to do is shut the site down for personal reasons.

- Why its back up
•I was wondering whether i should bring the site back or not, seeing as mysql is not exactly set up and it would mean alot of interactive features on the site would be down.
Then i thought to mysql, fans don't come to this site to talk, they go to proper forums for that. The reason fans come here is because fRaNk has put alot of effort into this site over the years and fans want to see info, cels, images etc.
I didn't bring dbgtn.com back because it was depriving the fans of viewing this site, i brought it back because fRaNk does not deserve this downtime, fans should be able to see his creation, and what i believe is a successful site.
Come back soon fRaNk :).

- DBGT coming to CNX
•From various reports i have heard DragonBall Grand Tour is coming to the UK! DragonBall Z is currently hot over here and doesn't seem to be loosing popularity and from what i have heard from people that have CNX in the UK, they have been seeing adverts saying it is coming the the UK in March!
The UK has recently been getting recognition for its anime followers and most people feel it's about time.
