Gohan's
Vengeance
Chapter Three: "Poor Gohan: The
Feeling
Of Helplessness"
Gohan awoke in the dead of night with a
headache and no sense of where or even who he was. He got up, rubbed
his eyes and brushed the dirt off his pants. He was force to limp when
he took a step, because of his knee. He somehow managed to climb up
the cliff without light; probably because he had climbed and played on
these rocks with his dad since he was a toddler. A stake of pain shot
through his heart when he remembered that his father was dead…and he
was never coming back. He also remembered the Android who looked just
like Cell. His confusion transformed into anger as he remembered the
eyes of the beast; the cold, emotionless eyes. His anger turned to
hatered. As he remembered that the beast was the murderer of his
father.
He arrived, and his mother was standing, looking out the window.
"I knew you would come back," she said.
"Why didn't you come look for me?" he asked. But then he
realized how selfish it had sounded. She was as sad as he was.
"I don't know, Gohan. And I'm sorry. It's just-I've been in sort
of an out of body experience all day. I still am," Chi-Chi said
weakly.
"Where did they…when did…what, umm…" he stopped and
ran forward hugging his mom. They both cried.
She, however, knew what he was asking. "I called Bulma…she was
all I knew to call, I didn't even think of the police or ambulance.
Vegeta hurried down. He couldn't do anything though; just a shoulder
to cry on. But you know how Vegeta is, he didn't say much. He just
stood there while I screamed, beating his chest with my fists. He just
placed his hands on my back for a second, and stared deep into my
eyes. Then I swear I saw a tear floating in his eye. He left without
saying anything. Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin came and wrapped him in
sheets. I gave them his Will," Chi-Chi was beginning to cry more
and more, "and they left. They told me not to come, so I stayed
here and waited. They came back and gave me this." Chi-Chi handed
Gohan a heavy China-glass jar titled, 'Son Goku: Protector of Mother
Earth, and Friend of All Her People'.
"He was cremated?" Gohan looked down.
"His Will said to scatter his ashes in the sea. You know he
always loved to sneak off and go swimming there; right in front of the
Kame House," Chi-Chi said, flickering the tiniest hint of a
smile.
"When's the-" Gohan began.
"It's tomorrow…I think Master Roshi said noon," floundered
Chi-Chi's voice.
Gohan got up and slowly walked to the window. "You know I saw
him," he said abruptly.
"What? Saw whom?" Chi-Chi wondered to her son.
"The man…the one that killed daddy, he was an android. He said
his name was #22, he looked just like Cell."
"Gohan, this is no time for games-" Chi-Chi didn't concur.
"It's no game! I saw him! After I ran into the woods, I tripped
on a root and tumbled down to the bottom of the foothill. I looked up
and saw what I thought was Cell, but he was red in color, sort of
maroon. His armor was also different. And the two spike-thingies that
sat on Cell's head, were shaped like horns!" Gohan went on,
telling his mother what he saw and heard.
"But how could it be? Another Android?" Chi-Chi said.
"Ugh, damn you, Gero!" She yelled.
"I'll go get Vegeta and Krillin!" Gohan said with emotion.
"NO!!!" Chi-Chi cried. "I'm not letting my baby boy go
out to look for some mechanical demon that killed my husband!"
"I HAVE to, Mom! You don't understand!" Gohan told her
seriously.
"At least wait till after the funeral," his mother said
somberly.
"Alright." And he hugged his mother.
