Pokemon...Now thats a name that has been in our heads for a long time. Even if you hate the anime, and i would know, i do too, but hey, a review is a review, so i'm writing this. Pokemon is mostly an amateur show, made for little children, that can't tell the difference between good and bad animation. It has cheesy jokes, and cheesy voices. The plot and the ideas of pokemon are pretty decent. But since pokemon is one of a kind, until Digimon, and Metabots came along and totally ripped off of pokemon. It was a child's favourite thing to watch. This was the beggining of a trainer to monster relationship kind of anime.
Pokemon has some basic themes, first of all, it's main character Ash Ketchum is an amateur pokemon trainer, striving to beat all the competitions, to someday become a pokemon Master. Joining him are 2 of his stalkers *cough* friends. With his faithful pokemon at his side Pikachu: amouse like yellow electric type creature. He travels the world in search of new challenges and competition.
Animation -- 4.5/10
The animation in Pokemon, is not quite as good as other Animes, sure it's not TOTALLY bad, but compared to other animes, it's pretty bad. For example, the animators have a habit of always making the charaters' bodies much too straight, and they never seem to totally capture the laws of gravity. When people in the whow "walk" they look like they've crapped they're pants. They're all straight, and only moving their legs. The rest of their body is straight and not moving except for the slight movement of their arms swinging back and forth.
Story -- 8.5/10
The story of Pokemon is actually as it might seem, not too bad. It is not really all that repetative, but each episode they people seem to find something new and different to do. The story always seems like it's been thought about, and is quite good at times, despite what others may tell you. Pokemon has this good habit of making it's stories unique. Meaning that yes, sometimes you can guess whats going to happen next, but if you've never seen the episode, then you know that there's going to be something happening, and when you expect it to happen, something else happens.
Sound -- 5/10
The Sounds of pokemon is an average piece(s) of work, it is not quite too bad, and not bad either. I'm sure the japanese music is much better, but I know the english music for it, even though i probably wouldn't listen to it if i didn't see the graphics to go with it, i'd still say that it is pretty nice, and that it fits perfectly into whatever is going on at the time in a certain scenario. If it didn't then it would probably sound much worse, and people would hate it.
