Trunks
Special
The Trunks
special starts off with Gohan sprinting towards his house, with Oolong calling
him to hurry up. He gets home, and sees his dad lying in bed. After a few
seconds, Krillen announces that Goku is no more. Everyone is upset by this,
even Vegeta. A screaming baby is heard over all of the tears shed by Goku’s
friends and family. This baby will be very important somewhere along the
timeline. Everyone dealt with the event in their own way, and lived on in peace
until half a year later……
An
explosion is seen on the Southern island, and is followed by a series of them.
On the island, chaos is being caused by a pair of androids, causing the city to
fall into the depths of hell. These androids have been dubbed as devils, due to
their evil goals. The Earth’s Special Forces did their best to fight these
robots off, but they failed in their efforts. Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, Krillen,
Chao-zu, and even Vegeta all suffered a horrible death at their hands. Only two
men remained – Gohan and Trunks. The special focuses on another future, the
future where Trunks didn’t deliver the medicine to Goku, and where Trunks
didn’t arrive at Earth to beat Frieza. This is an alternate future, a far
worse future.
13 years
pass, and the androids continue to terrorize the Earth, destroying a place
called Pepper Town. Frightened townspeople run for their lives, fearing the
worse. The androids give the petrified citizens 10 seconds to run for their
lives, just to put a bit more fun into destroying them. The humans run their
fastest, but there never was any chance of escaping, as the androids blow up
the best part of the city, killing everyone caught in the explosion.
One of the
androids is a female of about average height, with blonde hair that comes down
to about her shoulders. She is wearing brown boots, and a blue trousers and
top. The other one is a male, with black curtained hair the comes down to his
shoulders, wearing jeans, and a black top, with some sort of orange bib hanging
round his neck. Both of them have blue eyes with a touch of a dull grey to
them.
We go to a
deep blue sea, where the waves swish calmly, and Master Roshi’s house stands
firmly on it’s isolated island. Under the water is a submarine, where Oolong,
Roshi, and Puar are hiding out. They are listening in to the radio as the
newsman describes the terrible scene at Pepper town. Roshi is so angry with the
androids that he prepares to fight himself, but Oolong and Puar manage to talk
him out of it, knowing that he isn’t even close to the power that these
androids possess. Roshi curses, and wishes that Goku were still alive, for he
may have been able to beat these monsters.
We are back
with the androids now in the deserted town as the female one tries on some
extravagant outfits. She is impressed with the multitude of styles that they
have, and she takes a big pile of the clothes, with the shop assistant
whimpering, and begging for her not to kill him. She walks through the
automatic doors to join her male android friend, and she dumps all of her new
clothes in the back of a small car. Her friend (Who is now revealed as being
called #17) holds out a finger and blows up the shop, with the shop keeper
still inside. The female android is annoyed at #17 for destroying the clothes
shop, but they continue on none-the-less. Elsewhere in the town, newspeople are
ranting over the destruction, and massacre that Pepper Town is being forced to
host, as these sick robots destroy everything, and everyone in cold blood.
The androids get into their car, and fly through the town in it, aiming
for the pedestrians who are desperately trying to run away from these violent
horrors.
We switch
to another car, where a hand flicks the radio off, as they talk about these
terrible androids. It is Bulma! She is cursing the androids for all of their
cold-blooded and merciless killing, wishing that she wasn’t as helpless to do
something as she is. Next to her sits a young boy, with purple hair, only about
14 years of age. He is struggling to contain his anger as he bows his head,
trying to think of a way of stopping these powerful beings. Bulma calls this
young boy Trunks. One of Earth’s few remaining powerful fighters. He may only
be a teenager, but he has heart, and he tells Bulma to go on home without him.
She stops, realizing what Trunks is going to do, and begs him not to risk his
life. He doesn’t listen though, and takes off to go after the androids. Bulma
can only hope that her child will be safe now, as she drives off home.
We go back
to Pepper Town, where #17 is sadistically driving around, trying to kill the
helpless people who are desperately running from him, as he pursues them,
driving his red car like a maniac. He tries to run over as many people as he
can, but after a while the female android gets bored, and tells #17 just to
hurry up and destroy the city. Realizing that he may as well do it, #17 jumps
off the car, making it go crash into the side of a block of flats, causing a
small explosion. A spark from the initial explosion flies off onto one of the
gas tanks in the petrol station, causing a second, absolutely epic explosion.
Deciding that their work here is done, the two androids walk right through the
flames, absolutely painlessly, away from the town.
Trunks
soars through the sky with ease, and is shocked at what he sees upon his
arrival in Pepper Town. The whole place has been reduced to rubble after the
massacre that the androids caused. He looks on, absolutely terrified after
realizing how many people would have died during the devastation that the town
suffered. Trunks realizes the shocking truth that he is too late, and everyone
is already dead. He lands, and walks along the devastated path, dodging the
rubble that is scattered over the floor. He picks up a small, burnt, tattered
old bunny, and clutches it hard, knowing that children weren’t spared during
this all out, merciless destruction. Heroic music plays as a familiar figure
soars through the air, and sets down on what used to be a building, but is now
only a big lump of brick sticking out of the ground. He gazes around,
speechless at what has happened. Trunks looks up to him, and asks Gohan why
they are doing this. He is unable to answer though, because not even he knows,
as it seems that they have no motive, but instead are enjoying doing it.
At a small,
dome capsule corp. building, Gohan gazes out of the window, reluctantly looking
at everything that has taken place. Trunks is unsuccessful in hiding his
feeling though, and begins to shed tears over the loss of lives. He can’t
stand letting them doing this, but he knows that he isn’t strong enough to
defeat them yet. He begs Gohan to train him, but at first, there is no answer.
Gohan is lost in thought, not knowing what to do. Again, Trunks begins to beg
Gohan to train him so that he can become stronger, and defeat these inhumane
beasts. Gohan looks over to him, examining him carefully. Trunks says that he
can feel the Saiyan blood of his father running through his veins, making him
want to fight these evil creatures. Gohan smiles, and tells Trunks that he is
just like he was when he was a kid, always wanting to fight, even though his
mother didn’t want him to. Trunks still doesn’t have an answer though, so
he patiently waits for Gohan to say something else. In the end, Gohan tells
Trunks not to underestimate the androids, making the teenager give a smile of
joy, as he realizes that Gohan will train him. The discussion is broken by the
sound of Bulma’s voice though, as she shouts her boys name rather
pathetically. Trunks answers, telling her that he is ok, and quickly wipes his
tears away, not allowing his mom to see the distress he is in. Trunks tells
Gohan not to say a word to his mom about what they just agreed, and Gohan
promises. Bulma walks through the door with a bag of groceries in her hands,
with her head barely visible above it all. She sees Gohan, and says that she
will make extra food for him too. She thanks Trunks for not going to Pepper
Town, making him feel very guilty. He keeps his head down, masking his guilt by
pretending to read a book.
Bulma has
dished the food out, and Gohan wolfs his down, and is finished within a matter
of seconds. Trunks sees this, and decides that he will act like his idol too,
and he starts to scoff his food down his throat. Gohan politely asks Bulma for
more, and she chuckles, remarking how much like his father that he is. When
Gohan asks what she means, Bulma tells him that he eats the same food, wears
the same clothes. He says that he made them himself, to remind him of his
deceased father. Bulma tells Gohan that she has heard rumors that he has been
taking on the androids by himself, and that she is proud of him. Gohan says
that he wants to be as strong as his dad was, but knows that he still isn’t
there yet. Bulma tells him not to encourage Trunks to fight though, as he will
only get hurt. Gohan smiles nervously at this, as does Trunks, with both of
them keeping the training secret from her.
On an
isolated beach, Gohan now sits, watching over Trunks as the teenager powers up
to his maximum, then charges at Gohan, with the two of them having a little
spar. Trunks viciously attacks, but can’t connect with Gohan, as all of his
punches are blocked. Gohan keeps on jumping backwards, with Trunks in close
pursuit, as they near the edge of a small cliff. Trunks makes one final swing
at Gohan, but the son of Goku easily dodges it, and gets behind Trunks,
following the move up with a kick, that sends him into the water. Trunks
frantically splashes around, looking very distressed. Gohan laughs, knowing
that he is fine, attempting to train in the same style as Piccolo would. Trunks
manages to climb out of the water, and Gohan greets him with a
dry towel, which Trunks gratefully accepts. He dries himself off a
little, recovering from being kicked in the water as he does so.
Gohan and
Trunks sit on some rocks, near the shoreline of the sea. Trunks asks Goku what
sort of a man his father – Vegeta – was, as he died right after his birth.
Gohan tells him that he was a strong fighter, full of pride. Trunks is grateful
for the information. Gohan is looking menacing, as though he has a plan
formulating in his head, maybe a way of beating the androids.
At a house,
in a small village, in walks a huge man, with a grey beard, showing signs of
aging. He carries some groceries in his hand, and he greets a woman. She says
hello back, and the man tells her that he heard a rumour about Gohan. The
overprotective mother reveals herself as being Chi-Chi, and demands to know
what it is. The old man puts the shopping down, showing his face, and showing
that he is the Ox King. He tells Chi-Chi that apparently Gohan and Trunks are
still fighting the androids, seemingly trying to get vengeance for everyone. He
also tells her that about half the people in the world are dead, and the rest
are in hiding. Chi-Chi looks at a photo of her, Goku, and Gohan, and begs for
her son to return home.
The night
sky is a clear one, with hundreds of stars visible from every angle. Gohan and
Trunks are once again on the beach, with Trunks screaming with pain. He has an
aura of golden energy around him, as Gohan shouts to become even angrier,
telling him that anger is the source to a super Saiyans power. Trunks continues
to scream out in pain, thinking about all the deaths that the androids have
caused, but can’t quite make it, falling down to one knee, and panting hard,
eventually powering down again. Gohan watches him, and hopes that one-day
Trunks will be even stronger than him, and become a super Saiyan too, so that
he can beat the androids.
