Equal Competence
The announcer welcomes the aged and wise Jackie Chun, a previous champion and formidable opponent. Then, there is Tenshinhan, a youthful and spirited fighter, who won his last fight with ease. After saying this, Tenshinhan glares at Jackie, wondering if he’s as good as the announcer claims. The announcer then lets the two fight, while Krillin assumes that Jackie will beat this guy up good! Goku tells him that he may just not, making Krillin confused. Jackie and Tenshinhan both get into a fighting stance, while Goku explains that he feels more fighting spirit in Tenshinhan, than Jackie, so Jackie may lose. Krillin asks if that’s right, but his mind turns elsewhere, as Tenshinhan goes in for a punch on Jackie. Jackie blocks it with his arm and counterattacks with a kick to Tenshinhan’s stomach. However, Tenshinhan sees it and blocks it with his fist, then trying to get Jackie’s head. He misses entirely, when Jackie ducks just in time. But Jackie springs back up, grabbing Ten’s leg, and hurling him away. Tenshinhan finds himself in the air and lands on the ground, forcing himself back to Jackie. He puts his hands across each other, making a cross, heading for Jackie. Jackie jumps away just in time, right over Tenshinhan. Tenshinhan sees him behind him and tries to stop himself. Eventually, both fighters stop, and jump in the air to each other, until they both start swinging wild punches, as though they have multiple arms! They soon fall to the ground, but Jackie isn’t done yet. He flies to Tenshinhan and then splits, into many after images.

Tenshinhan realizes it’s the Zanzouken and focuses hard on the right one. He finally catches Jackie and kicks him away, right into a statue wall. Goku and Krillin are both amazed by seeing this, while Tenshinhan explains that he has three eyes, so it would be harder to match his eye speed. Jackie sees now that Tenshinhan is much stronger than he realized, so he will have to go all out now. He rips off his shirt, exposing his chest, and then does a variety of hand movements, as though he’s warming up. He then positions himself, when Tenshinhan runs at him, saying that he is through playing and will increase his speed with his hands! Jackie sees through Tenshinhan’s speed and grabs his hands. He then kicks Ten in the stomach, making him very weak. Still holding his wrists, Jackie then kicks Tenshinhan into the air, letting go just in time. Jackie smiles over his win, while Krillin jumps for joy. Goku, however, is still stern on wondering why Tenshinhan isn’t going harder? Tenshinhan falls to the ground, cursing Jackie for doing that. He then pushes his body with all his might, going faster than Jackie can realize, so it surprise him. Ten then kicks Jackie in the chest, and after that, hits Jackie to the ground with a hard hit to the head. Jackie catches himself and propels his body up. This surprises Tenshinhan and feels more pain, when Jackie hits him hard in the nose! Ten retreats several steps back, then wipes his nose to see if there is any blood. The announcer cannot believe his eyes, despite the fact the he has seen much more than that, while Goku and Krillin compliment Ten and Jackie. Tenshinhan compliments Jackie to himself, saying that he is much faster and stronger than his master. Jackie also compliments Tenshinhan, but in his head as well, saying that he is much stronger than normal fighters, but is defiantly up for the challenge.
