Dragonball Z Movie 10: Dangerous
Partners: Super Warriors Never Rest!
SUMMARY: This movie starts out with a
view of a Saiyan Space-Pod flying towards Earth. Next, you see what seems to be
an injured Brolly. The movie doesn't explain how he escaped from Movie #8 or
how he found a Saiyan Space-Pod to fly in. But let's move on, shall we? Next is
the opening song "We Gotta Power", and then it shows Trunks Videl,
and Goten all chasing around Dragonballs. They collect all but four of them.
Goten and Trunks get hungry so they go to the nearby village. There is a
Mountain Priest, hollering over and over, "Oh Holy Mountain God! Save this
village and all our souls!" Videl asks him what the matter is. An old man
(whom I think resembles Hoi, from movie #13) stumbles on over and explains to
her about a monster who has plagued their town. Videl, Trunks and Goten
volunteer to kill the beast in exchange for some food and the Mountain Priest's
necklace. They offer some food to bribe the monster. He appears to be a giant
dinosaur. Trunks defeats him with one punch to the nose. Not too long
afterwards, Videl comes across Brolly on a patch of ice. He beats the crap out
of her, when Goten and Trunks come to the rescue. Brolly looks at Goten and
says, "Kakarotto," because he thinks Goten is Goku. Goten says,
"Kakarotto? I've never heard of that kind of food." They all get into
an amazing fight; Gohan, Piccolo and Kuririn show up, even though they don't
help much. In the end Goku comes down from the Heavens and helps his sons take
out Brolly with a joint Kamehameha Blast.
ACTION: I think this movie delivered the
goods, action wise, but in a way not seen in many other Dragonball movies. I
liked the way it combined gut-wrenching action with slapstick comedy. This
sometimes gets annoying, because when you get caught up in a brutal battle
between Gohan and Brolly, the scene changes to Goten urinating. I mean, why do
we need to see that? It has nothing to do with the story, and as soon as he
gets his little willy back into his pants, the scene changes back to the Gohan
fight again. The way you saw Brolly die was pretty neat. His body sort of
dissolved, the way Kid Buu did at the end of the series.
MUSIC: The music in Movie #10 was
awesome. Though it wasn't much different from the other movies, it seemed to
fit the scenes better, making every punch seem more vicious than the last. The
ending song was great. It was sort of like the music that plays at the ending
of "Fooly Cooly", sort of a funky hard-rock sound.
OVERALL: Overall, this movie was average.
It had an average Dragonball plot outline: while looking for the balls, they
find a village in distress. An old villain shows up, and then they beat him
once more. It had an average amount of action, and a little too much unneeded
comedy. If you have KaZaA, or Morpheus, I'd suggest downloading it. No rush,
though, since there are a lot of unreleased DBZ movies that are better than
this. If you have a comic store that sells fansubs, make sure it's of good
quality before buying. You might just want to wait until FUNimation releases it
next August.
