Dragonball Z
GT - "Changes of Heart"
In DB/Z/GT we’ve seen many bad guys turned
good. It’s sometimes confusing, because one episode it’s, “Kill Vegeta!”
and two episodes later it’s, “Let’s help Vegeta!” So here’s a look at
all of our heroes who’ve decided to fight with the good guys.. or should I
say villains? Or should I say…oh, well…HERE YA’ GO!!!
Dragonball:
Lord Pilaf Saga –
Oolong – in episode four of DB, Goku gets
called to a small town called Aru Village where a monster named Oolong is
kidnapping little girls…(what a perverted pedophile!) After getting beaten by
and caught by Goku, he realizes his that he is a perverted sex offender, and
ends up returning the girls to their homes and living with Kame-Sen’nin in
the Turtle House.
Yamcha – in episode five, Son Goku encounters
a desert thief who is searching for the dragonballs and threatens to kill our
chubby little hero! Whoops…not evil enough I guess. This sorry loser is
afraid of girls and ends up facing his fears and hooking up with Bulma, after
getting his ass kicked around by Goku. Now he lives with Kame-Sen’nin. I sure
hope the old fart’s charging rent!
Pu’ar – this little, cute kitten can’t be
a bad guy, can he? WRONG!!! He is a partner in crime with Yamcha, and is a
shapeshifter just like Oolong! Be honest, who would really be afraid of a cat
and a pig? Oh well…he’s a good guy now, changed along with Yamcha, but
doesn’t do anything except sit around at Kame House anyway.
Ox King – he’s a giant. He lives on a
mountain. And he's evil. When Goku and co. show up looking for the 6th
dragonball in episode 7, he's not too happy either. At first it seems like
there's no way he could lose, but after finding out that Goku is in
communications with his old master Muten Roshi, he lets Goku off the hook in
order for a chance to speak with his old master. In the end, Goku and Chi-Chi
marry, and her father also goes to live at Goku's house.
Red Ribbon Saga –
Android #8 – also known as Hatchan after he
turns good, this big Frankenstein-looking android turns out to be a big ol’
sap and becomes friends with Son Goku. #8 was created by Dr. Flappe, and helps
Goku escape the evil clutches of the Red Ribbon Army.
Tenshinhan Saga –
Tenshinhan – another Tenka’ichi Budokai
rolls around, and because there ALWAYS has to be some sort of bad guy/threat
going on, Tenshinhan fits that bill. His sensei was Taopaipai’s brother, and
a few sagas ago, Son Goku killed Taopaipai, who was hired by the Red Ribbon
Army. Master Shen is mad at Goku for killing his brother, so his student,
Tenshinhan—in turn—is mad at Son Goku, too. Getting all this? Good. Anyway,
Tenshinhan is eventually won over by Roshi's persuasion, after realizing that
Shen is the true evil one.
Chaotzu – Chaotzu is Tenshinhan’s little
friend, and was a personal enemy of Kuririn. Chaotzu called Kuririn bald,
Kuririn got steamed, and they ended up fighting each other in a round of the
Budokai. Since Chaotzu is Tenshinhan's best friend, he followed Tenshinhan into
the good side. Now he hangs around Roshi's house with everyone else.
Piccolo Daimao Saga –
Piccolo Junior – The son of pure evil (Piccolo
Daimaoh), his purpose was to destroy Goku, the one who killed his father. After
fighting him in the 23rd Budokai, he ends up the loser, but is given a second
chance in the form of a senzu bean, and takes off. He later joins with Goku in
to defend the Earth from Raditz, and turns truly good in the Freeza Saga. He is
loyal to the good side from then on.
Dragonball Z:
Saiyan Saga –
Vegeta – the prince of all Saiyans, incredible
strength, arguably the most powerful being alive…let’s face it, this guy
has something to brag about. But when it comes to almost killing our hero,
Goku, the dude’s crossed the cockiness line. Vegeta was ruled by Freeza since
a young age, and the Evil Lord killed his father. Now ya’ see the reason for
the grumpiness? He has obviously had a raging hatred for Freeza, ever since he
was a child. He hates the guy so much, that he ends up using the Z-Fighters, to
help him bring down Lord Freeza once and for all. Although he fights alongside
them, he secretly wishes to tear down Goku and friends, until about the Buu
saga when he finally becomes good.
Cell Saga –
Android 16 – this guy is pretty bad. He was
created by the R/R Army for the sole purpose of murdering Son Goku, but over
time figures out the world's truths and becomes a protector of justice. He also
has a few devastating moves which almost flatten Imperfect Cell. However, after
Cell morphs to Stage 2, he causes some major injuries to the big guy. Bulma
fixed him up, and his bomb was removed. This ended up being worse that better,
because without the bomb, he couldn’t defeat Cell. This enabled Cell to
destroy #16, but before he "died", #16 was able to convince Gohan
that he should hold onto life and protect those he loved, which resulted in an
awesome SSJ2 transformation.
Android 18 – Kidnapped and turned into an
android by Dr. Gero, #17's twin was originally as evil as he is. However, after
Cell appeared, she and #16 were forced to fight alongside Krillen and Trunks.
She was then absorbed, and was assumed to be gone for good. But after Cell spit
her out, Krillen took the care to guard her and wish her bomb out after Cell's
death. #18, still upset, took off, but 7 years later she was seen married to
Krillen. From then on she was on the heroes side.
Majin Buu Saga –
Fat Buu – Oh no!! A monster, thousands of
years old! And he’s…PINK??? Don’t let the girlie color and the
toddler-sounding voice fool you; Majin Buu’s reign of terror seems endless!
That is until Mr. Satan befriends him, and since the pure-good Dai Kaiou was a
part of him, he finally turns good. Unfortunately.. Buu ends up spitting out
the evil inside himself. And so begins the Fusion Saga, and another, and
another, and another.. In the end, Buu lives with Mr. Satan at his mansion.
