Dragon Ball Z
The Android War

By Luke Bulmer

This is my first completed fan fiction, and through the course of it, I hope to not only provide possible answers to many of the mysteries of the Dragonball universe, but to create a whole new level of excitement within it. Read on!

Prologue

Sol System, the day after Planet Vegeta's destruction,
After-colony 166, Earth Calendar…

"This is the planet you requested, Lord Grigos. Designated "Earth" by its inhabitants, Sol Three is a rock planet with a nickel/iron core, and a sentient population of approximately seven billion, with approximately ten million living on self-sustaining space colonies in high orbit. The atmosphere contains high concentrations of nitrogen and oxygen, and is covered mostly by water. Earth possesses no orbital defences."
Somewhere in the darkness, Grigos smiled.
"Continue, subcommander," he intoned.
His subordinate nodded deferentially.
"Yes, milord," he said, pausing again. "We have just received a communiqué from one of our operatives in the Oryc Nebula; he reports that Frieza has just destroyed the Saiyan homeworld, Vegeta."
Lord Grigos leaned forward; his featureless, masked visage gave no clue to his emotional response. His black cloak fluttered slightly as a breeze of recycled air swept past him.
"Were your instructions to Frieza not clear enough?" he asked snidely. Lord Grigos rose to his full, and not unimpressive height, and swept down from his throne, across the darkened bridge of his command ship, and stopped by the subcommander. "I thought that Frieza and his brother, as well as their wretched father had been given explicit orders not to destroy Planet Vegeta. Were they, or does my memory not serve me well?"
"Yes milord, my instructions were clear; the fault was at Frieza's end. I have been informed that an uprising occurred. The Saiyan army, led by Commander Bardock, revolted against Frieza, and he destroyed them in retaliation."
Grigos grabbed the subcommander by the throat, lifted him out of his chair, and several feet into the air, choking him.
"I will not tolerate failure!" Grigos barked, strengthening his grip.
The subcommander tried to protest, by was silenced by a final squeeze from Grigos, which shattered his windpipe with a crack. Grigos dropped him to the floor inelegantly, before sweeping back to his throne.
"Lieutenant, get us to Frieza's homeworld now!" he shrieked to one of the terrified members of his crew. "If he destroys the race I wanted for my experiment, I will destroy his race as a little reminder of how errors can cost lives."
"Yes, Lord Grigos."
"Oh, and one more thing," Grigos said lightly. "Please inform Agents 8472 and 5538 that their assignment on Earth has been extended indefinitely."
Grigos sighed, leaned back in his chair, and smiled contentedly. His shrouded face kept up the illusion that the only feelings he had were those visible by his body language, such as irritation and outright anger. At the moment he was somewhere between the two.
Frieza had disappointed him again; and he would be made to face the direst of consequences as a result.
Grigos hoped that the annihilation of Frieza's homeworld would encourage him not to fail in the future. He knew that Frieza hated Saiyans, and he had known how dangerous that leaving him in charge of them could have been. However, it seemed that he had given his subordinate too much credit.
The next time Frieza failed, he would die.
