The First Set
History: the first set of dragonballs are unknown to many and are never shown in any of the Dragonball series. They were made by an unknown namek just after the nameks inhabited Planet Namek. This set of dragonballs was composed of a set of 7 golden-orange spheres with red-orange stars numbering each orb. When these orbs when brought together they would summon a dragon that would grant any wish. The first dragon was modeled after the namek race and had scales and spines protruding from his back and arms. This was the set that inspired it all.

Tragedy and the Second Set
History: A few years after the first set was created Planet Namek began to experience violent storms and harsh periods of drought. The land became useless and the crops began to die. The nameks themselves were being wiped out along with the planet. This atmosphere was with Planet Namek for many years and when it finally concluded its reign of terror, only a few nameks were left standing. One of which was the eldest namek, Guru. Guru began to give birth to a new generation of nameks. Through time the population of Planet Namek grew to its original status, but the first set was lost because the creator had died in the troubling period of Planet Namek. Guru being the elder, decided to create his own set of dragonballs. Guru created the balls but needed a dragon for when they were summoned. He modeled his dragon after the original namekian dragon and gave him the name Porunga. Guru empowered the dragon with the ability to grant three wishes in one summoning. These dragonballs are the set seen on namek throughout the Dragonball and Dragonball Z series.

Earth's First Set: The Black Stars
History: A little while later a namekian ship landed in Yunzabit Heights on the Planet Earth. The traveler inside was a young namek who's name is lost with time. He soon proclaims himself Guardian of Earth and as Guru did, he creates his own set of dragonballs. But something was different about these dragonballs, the stars of the golden-orange orbs were black, not the natural red-orange as was seen on namek. The Unknown Namek knew why this was so, it was because he had a tremendously evil entity inside himself and before he could make a pure set of dragonballs, he himself must become pure. The Black Stars were to powerful and evil to let into the world, so the namek scattered them throughout the galaxy, hopefully never to be found.

Earth's Second Set
History: After the creation of the Black Stars the namek had to become pure, so he forced the evil energy out of his body, but the evil was so strong that it spawned another entity, one identical to the first but pure evil. The evil namek left his twin and the now pure namek started creation on his second set of dragonballs. During this time the namek took a name for himself, that name was Kami. He decided to make these dragonballs smaller then the ones on namek and he used stones about the size of a baseball. After the dragonballs were made, Kami needed a dragon for the summoning. He decided to model the dragon after the classic Japanese dragon. He finished and named the great dragon Shenron. Now Earth had its own set of Dragonballs and the power to make wishes for the good or bad of mankind.

Earth's Third Set
History: Many years after the separation, Piccolo (the evil half) had been reborn and was now a good being as well. He was helping to defend Earth from an evil android named Cell. Cell was to strong for any of Earth's great fighters, Piccolo knew that there was no choice and he went to see Kami. He convinces Kami to fuse with him so become strong enough to defeat Cell. Since this was done, Earth's dragonballs were useless, because the creator was no longer alive. But the Black Stars were revived since the creator had come back. However, now Earth needed a new guardian and a new set of dragonballs. Dende, a young namek, was brought back to do those jobs. He revived Kami's dragonballs and used the original model as the dragon. Now Shenron was reborn again to fulfill the wishes of those who summon him. Earth now had a guardian and a set of dragonballs again.

New Namek's Dragonballs
History: Little is known about these dragonballs, in fact next to nothing. The little amount of information that is known is the Muuri, the Elder of one of the villages on Planet Namek, becomes the Senior Namek, or Guru of New Namek and creates the Dragonballs. The dragon and Dragonballs he creates are strong however never shown in the Dragonball Series. These Dragonballs are simply a mystery.
