IRC/Sysreset 2.53 Tutorial
> Step
1:
Download the Sysreset 2.53 IRC Script HERE.
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. You can also download files such as full
episodes, mp3s, MIDI, pictures etc...Its quite useful in a way.
> Step
2:
After you download,
install it into a directory, For Example, keep it simple like C:/Sysreset.
After installation, open the script by double clicking the mIRC.exe icon in
your Sysreset folder.
> Step
3:
After you open the script an Options window should
popup. Click on the "Connect" tab on the left menu and then fill
out your Full name, Email*, Nick and
Alternative Nick. Your Nick and Alternative Nick is the names you will use,
kind of like your AIM or MSN screen name, so make it whatever you like.
*Your
email does not have to be a real one in this case. It just has to be filled
in.
> Step
4:
After filliing out the form fields (Name, Email,
Nick/Alternative Nick) click on the "Add" button at the top of the
window. For the "Description" form field, put Wondernet. For the
"IRC Server" field, put in US.WONDERNET.NU be sure
it is spelled correctly.
> Step
5:
Once you have added a server, it should be selected
(Wondernet should be selected) when you go back to the Options window. You
can now click the"Connect to IRC Server" button. A new window should
pop up with a whole bunch of words. That is fine. All it is doing now is connecting
to a server. This window is called the "SERVER WINDOW," do not forget
it because I will refer to it later. Once the words stop moving and it says
you are connected, you can now join a channel.
> Step
6:
To join a channel, there are 2 ways. The AUTOMATIC
way, and the MANUAL way. First, we will go through the automatic way. Click
on the little icon that looks like a folder with a "#" sign on top
of it. A window should popup. Click the "Add" button and fill out
the "Channel" field ONLY. Put #shadow-anime in the channel field
and click OK. Then it will bring you back to the window before. Double click
on #shadow-anime from the list of channels. A new window should popup and
you should be in the channel.

Your window may look a little different than mine since I have my Sysreset
customized and such.
An alternative way to access a
channel would be to manually type the commands. In the SERVER WINDOW described
in step 5 above, click on the little text bar at the bottom of the window,
and type in the following: /join #shadow-anime
and that is it. A new window should popup and you will have joined the channel.
> Step
7:
Time to go over the basic looks and feels of
Sysreset for just basic chatting in the channel. Click the Image below and
please read along for it will help a lot if you are new to IRC.
#1:
This is the TITLE bar, also called Topic Bar.
It is kind of like the news of the day. Only people with the "@"
or "%" next to their name can change it.
#2:
This is the user list. All the users in the channel
will be listed here. People with "@" next to their name are Channel
Operators (They have FULL control of the channel). People with "%"
next to their name are Half Operators (They have PARTIAL control of the channel).
People with the "+" next to their name are called Voices. Voices
are people who SHARE files, kind of like in Kazaa or WinMX, but I will explain
a little bit more on that in the next tutorial.
#3:
This is where the other users chat message appears.
The <InuYasha> in the picture is who is talking.
#4:
When a message has a ">" next to
it, that means you are the one who said that. In the picture it looks like
"> nothing".
#5:
This is the type area where you type any messages
you want to appear in the chat.
