Posted on Wednesday, January 8 2003 -=- By {-MysticGohan-}

-"Excerpts from Press Release:

A new anime convention is currently in the early planning stages for launch in the Baltimore, MD area. Kun Sun Sweeley, president of NeoAniCon is proud to announce the planning of NeoAniCon that will be launched in the Baltimore, MD area with help from some members from the ChibiAnime.com Forum and some personal friends. The date for NeoAniCon is unknown at this time but we have plans on launching it on the month that Spring Break occurs on. To our current knowledge, there are no conventions held in the Baltimore area during the month of Spring Break. We are actively searching for a possible location to hold the convention, we're currently looking at hotels in downtown Baltimore. We also are in need of acquiring funding for our convention. There are immediate plans to file a U.S. Trademark application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect the name of our convention and to register www.neoanicon.com for the official website of our convention as soon as we obtain funding for the convention. We know the cost of filing a U.S. Trademark costs $335, registering a domain name varies in cost depending on what registration service we use. We are also actively seeking staff members to work with the convention. The following positions are currently available and people can select what position they want to work on. There is a limit of people who can be in one position, 5 people in one position is the minimum, 10 people in one position is the maximum.

Industry Insight:
Dragon Ball Z 2002 Review
As the Year of the Horse (2002) galloped toward its conclusion, it could arguably have been considered the Year of the Dragon - Dragon Ball Z. A quick review of the year shows:
- Dragonball is again the "Web's Most Wanted" on Lycos, which makes it the first topic ever to repeat as the #1 search topic of the year.
- During the first week of the fall season push, Dragon Ball Z was the #1 program of the week on all cable television with tweens 9-14, boys 9-14 and men 12-24.
- The IF Labs Charity Auction was a huge success. The exclusive paint-master prototype of SS3 Goku went for $2,075 and the proceeds were distributed to various children's charities.

JAKKS receives master toy license for Dragon Ball Z
- JAKKS, the number three toy maker in the industry, was awarded the Master Toy License for Dragon Ball®, Dragon Ball Z® and the highly anticipated Dragon Ball GT®. JAKKS will develop, manufacture and distribute action figures, action figure accessories and vehicles based on these top-rated animated series.

Character Profile: Android 18
Evil science genius Dr. Gero creates his most destructive inventions ever. Androids #16, #17, #18, #19, #20 are out to destroy our heroes on the Earth. Putting Earth at peril, these Androids have amazing strength and enjoy devastation for its sake.

Androids 17 and 18 are teenage Androids. They are the ones responsible for the future threat to the Earth, prompting Trunks to come back to this time on Earth from the future to stop them. #17 is a black haired boy and #18 is a cute blond girl. Although she never stops being evil, #18 later softens up a little.

Meredith McCoy Bio:
Meredith was deeply involved in music and drama throughout her childhood. Currently her interests are evenly distributed between singing and acting. Her voice has been heard alongside of Ricky Derek, Vince Vance and the Valiants, the Cary Richards Orchestra and is currently in production on a new trio, Paper Dolls. Meredith's first role in anime was the voice of Dragon Ball Z's Android 18 and has since handled many more including the voice of Launch from Dragon Ball and Atsuko on Yu Yu Hakusho.

-I was "peeping" through my Referals list and found this link. - XXL SzR. Thanks to XXL Anime for this sort of "Tribute" and honor. I appreciate the kind words. We are in a bit of delema as this site may be just PURE news and information and may be looking to support some sort of Image gallery sharing with another site. Also we got some request for affiliation from a rather odd place. I will post it as soon as i get a reply back. As for news Mystic and Otaku are the best things to happen to this site since Sam is on vacation. I am currently working on a new more simple layout and a page dedicated to my awsome staff that will feature there website and short interview and bio. Look for that soon and also I will have my Bio up for the first time since Saiyanz Rage was born back in the mid 90's. I figure its time the community gets to know who is the pees behind this poor site LOL. -=- SzR.
