R.I.P. - Man of Steel
Posted by Tapion on 10-11-2004 20:24
Christopher Reeve, who portrayed the Man of Steel in four movies from 1978 to 1987, sadly passed yesterday due to heart failure. In the casting coup of the century Reeve was chosen among 200 potential actors for the part of the mythical and heroic Superman and seemed to personify in his acting of the part all of the noble and good qualities that people imagined Superman to have. It was clear that this was more than just a case of another actor getting another part in another movie as his performance has inspired millions to believe that honor and dignity and nobility can still exist in this world. Paralyzed from the neck down in a May 1995 horse-riding accident, he strove to still live life to its fullest and even began to make miraculous progress in overcoming the debilitating effects of his paralysis. He will be sorely missed.

New Fake Poster
Posted by tennis_man45 on 10-11-2004 13:26

If you see this poster anywhere, please know that it is a fake. Probaby the worst attempt so far at that. FOX has stated that they did not release this poster, or any dealing with the DBZ Live Action Movie.

Also, I must apologize for the scarcity of my posts, I have been VERY preoccupied with school, my personal life, and another project (i.e. site) that I've been working on. Thankfully Tapion has done a great job handling the news. I am still answering all emails, usually within a day at the most, so if you want to contact me, feel free.

FUNi Licensing 'Samurai 7'
Posted by Tapion on 09-28-2004 20:34
AnimeNewsNetwork has reported this:

"FUNimation announced the other day at Anime Weekend Atlanta that they had acquired the license for 'Samurai 7'.

'Samurai 7' tells of a small village is being persecuted by robbers who return every harvest to seize the village's crops. Faced with starvation, the villagers send out a mission to find and recruit some samurai to defend them. With no pay to offer except rice, and knowing full well that only down-on-their-luck samurai would even consider accepting such an deal, the villagers can only hope that their saviours will appear before the rice is ready for harvest."

Um, I'm no rocket scientist, but don't you think FUNi is getting a little ahead of themselves? I mean...they've licensed like six or seven animes in the past year and we've gotten hardly any word on their progress.

GBA Video, (and other news...)
Posted by Tapion on 09-23-2004 20:37
FUNimation is now releasing DBGT episodes for the Game Boy Advance! The first release (Dragon Ball GT Volume 1) contains two episodes: "A Grand Problem" & "Pan's Gambit". Here's the cover:

Now I understand that most of you have already seen these episodes, either on TV by buying the dvd's, but now you can take the action of DBGT anywhere you go!

****************************************************

In other news, FUNimation has a new Director of Internet Marketing, Brandon White. He'll be taking over Jason McCarthy's position. I've been friends with Jason for a while, and I'm looking forward to getting to know Brandon, also.

In a recent email sent to me by Brandon, he said to look for Look for New Websites in October – FullMetal Alchemist, Spiral, and Sakura Taisen, plus a new Z-Store redesign will be live in early October.

Um, Just In Case You Missed It the First Time Around...
Posted by Tapion on 09-17-2004 20:22
Dragonball GT Season Two has ended, but they're not starting the saga--or series--over again (as they did with DBZ, many-a-time). They've decided to re-air the first few episodes of The Shadow Dragon Saga, beginning with "The Shadow Dragons".
