Released in 1994 in Japan, G Gundam is differenet from all the other gundam series. Instead of following a generic storyline like kill everything in sight, this series has such a thing called a Gundam Fight. This Gundam Fight is between two gundams only and they duel it out following the rules of The Official Gundam Fight Regulations. Each country has a gundam, and you defeat each country to earn your title in the Gundam Fight Champions where the best gundam fighters in the world compete. Domon Kasshu, The King of Hearts, is one of these gundam fighters.

Domon, with his partner (and girlfriend) Rain Mikamura, and his Shining Gundam travel to the countries of the world to get into the Gundam Fight Championships. Though Domon's main objective isn't to win the championship, it is to find his brother Kyoji Kasshu, who had built his own gundam on the Colony of representing NeoJapan. Kyoji, after killing his father and mother took the gundam down to earth. This gundam is known as the Dark Gundam (Devil Gundam). It has the ability to reproduce, selfrepaid damage, and is made from a material called DG Cells (Dark Gundam Cells) which, when comes in contact with a person, mainly another gundam fighter, can take over his body and mind to do what the Dark Gundam wants.

Domon is bound on defeating his brother Kyoji and his former Master, Master Asia, Undefeated of the East, and also former King of Hearts. But he will need more that his Shining Gundam to defeat the Dark Gundam and Master Asia's Master Gundam...
