A Word on Gun Control

Ok first of all, this isn't to mess up anyone's opinion, but the fact of the matter is that owning a gun isn't against the law, and it isn't bad. It is not worth a criminal punishment. Owning a piece of metal, such as a gun goes not harm anyone physically, and does not violate anyone's free will, or anything like that. So why is it that there are people out there who think that it is a bad thing to own an innocent piece of metal. I mean it is for your own protection, besides if you're not harming anyone then it's not bad. They could argue, well you have the power to take life when you own a gun, and i say to them, yes we do have the power to take life, but we do not need to own a gun to do it. Anyone can take a life, they are just trying to find the easiest excuse for us not to own guns. Now not owning a gun myself, i feel that i don't really need one, but if necessary i am able to take a life through other means. So that is no excuse saying that us having guns gives us the power to take other lives. It may make it easier for us yes, but nevertheless it is no excuse. Here's the bottom line, and the flat definition of harming someone, to harm someone is to intrude or cause any type of physical or psychological injury or damage, and owning a gun in itself doesn't do that to anyone. Gun ownership, by itself, harms no other person and cannot morally justify criminal penalties. The definition of morality you say? well morality is of, or concerned with the judgment of the goodness or badness of human action and character. Now you can say that morally some people feel it's wrong to have a gun, but then again what is wrong?

If there was no wrong there would be no right, if there is no good there is no evil. How can you tell what is good without the opposite end being evil is there. You have nothing to compare it to, and so far, there hasn't been any problems with people owning guns. There is a problem with what people do with those guns. Now Criminal being derived from crime, which is basically just unlawful activity, or an act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction. Therefore now that we know what everything means we can conclude that Morally, we can say that owning a gun truly does not justify criminal penalties, therefore, it is not breaking the law to own a gun, as said above in the definition of crime. Meaning that it is not a crime to own a gun. One other thing I'd like to point out, and that is that just because someone makes it illegal to own a gun doesn't mean that it's going to stop people from owning guns. To disobey the rules is part of human nature, and people will break the rules and they will be that much more tempted to own a gun. Just like the example of certain drugs, no one cared about them, until they were made illegal, and now almost everyone is buying them. We are in sense like animals, because animals don't take interest in something unless it starts running away from us, or showing any sort of resistance. We are in turn the same in many ways. Because we don't notice anything or in other words we don't take interest in something unless it becomes forbidden or becomes outlawed, or specially treated.

This is a fact of life, because in every human being there is the drive to defy authority, and break rules. To go against what is told to do, because if a person doesn't see anything wrong with it, they will do it. And as long as it doesn't harm them, they will do it. Here we get into another issue, the issue of hurting ones self. This means that people won't be too tempted to break laws which they know will harm themselves physically, or emotionally. Obviously if there is a law saying don't stab yourself in the heart, people aren't going to be too tempted to break it. Because it implies doing harm to yourself, and we all know the definition of harm from above. But something like owning a gun, cannot possibly harm you or anyone else around you, the very action of only owning a gun, will never be hazardous, to you or anyone else around you. Which is exactly why people will be tempted to break the rule. Now this thing with the drugs, yes it is in turn harming yourself, but if the person being tempted to break the rule doesn't see anything wrong with it, then the only thing we can do to them is make them realize what they are doing to themselves, instead of just telling them not to do it.

One more thing to add, the act of banning guns will make guns more expensive and give organized crime a great opportunity to make profits in a new black market for weapons. Street violence will increase in new turf wars. Criminals will not give up their guns. But, many law abiding citizens will, leaving them defenseless against armed bandits. Now would you really want something like that to happen, our economy will suffer from this since people will be spending money on guns, and stealing from each other, just because someone out there thinks it's wrong to have a piece of metal in your possession. Studies show that where gun ownership is illegal, residential burglaries are higher. A man with a gun in his home is no threat to you if you aren't breaking into it. Foolish politicians and police now seek to ban semi-automatic "assault rifles". They ignore the fact that only honest citizens will comply; criminals will still have them. Such a ban will only increase the criminals' ability to victimize the innocent. Guns are not the problem. They are inanimate objects. Gun control advocates talk as if guns could act on their own, as if human beings cannot control them, so the uncontrollable guns must be banished, i say to you, this is the wrong way of looking at things, you must be able to trust just not the devil inside them.

"Let us put the responsibility where it belongs, on the owner and user of the gun. If he or she acts responsibly, without attacking others or causing injury negligently, no crime or harm has been done. Leave them in peace. But, if a person commits a crime with a gun, then impose the severest penalties for the injuries done to the victim. Similarly, hold the negligent gun user fully liable for all harm his negligence does to others. Rather than banning guns, the politicians and the police should encourage gun ownership, as well as education and training programs. A responsible, well-armed and trained citizenry is the best protection against domestic crime and the threat of foreign invasion. America's founders knew that. It is still true today."

That quote speaks truth.
