Information: Dragonball Z: Detailed Biographies: Piccolo
PICCOLO:
Piccolo is a Namekian. His father, Piccolo Daimao had split into two parts good and bad (Kami and Piccolo). Goku had fought Piccolo Daimao to the death and eventually punched straight through him. As Piccolo Daimao died, he spit out an egg from which hatched Piccolo. Piccolo and Goku never were friends and they fought against each other in Martial Arts tournaments and in actual every day life. He had tried everything to kill Goku but nothing worked. He even made himself bigger to scare Goku, but that failed. At the reunion when Radditz came, Piccolo instantly came to warn them because he saw him earlier. Piccolo and Goku teamed up to stop Radditz. Piccolo seeing Gohans inner powers took him in as a trainee and taught Gohan many things. Gohan looked up to him and even wore similar clothing. He was Piccolos first friend.
Being the bad side of Kami, Piccolo never had a chance at getting a good friend, but when Gohan was taken into training, Gohan's pure heart and innocence eventually influenced Piccolo too and atlast, his heart became pure good, leading him to sacrifice his own life to save Gohan's in the battle against Nappa and Vegeta. Piccolo is a very wise fighter, having many techniques and tactics up his sleeve. He was the second strongest fighter till Vegeta arrived and when the other fighters started increasing their own power levels. But still, he holds the honorable position as fourth strongest Z fighter on Earth. He still trains and meditates increasing his fighting spirit. Piccolo's training routines are strict, unique and help to raise the trainee's speed, strength, and also his focus, concentration on the fighting.
Piccolo, while training, wears heavy clothing, so when the heavy clothes are taken off, his speed and strength increases substantially. Even though he does not play that much big of a role in the Buu saga, he does help out the team by training Goten and Trunks the fusion technique after Goku left. Piccolo's fighting techniques, tactics and his wisdom and experience about fighting are unparalleled by any other fighter in the Z fighter team.
